  1. Think of the rule as the opposite of the tennis rule. In tennis, if the ball touches the line even though it is 99.9% out it is still IN. In football, you can not touch the line even if 99.9% or your foot is in.

This was not a TD, but why not challenge it we were down by so much at that point.

  2. Nice job. After todays game we will see if the OL and DL have improved. We need to run the ball for more than 3 yards at a time. The old question is it the running backs or the OL if we don't.

We need to stop the run obviously. This is a good test for us.

I have my doubts about the secondary. They play ten yards off the receivers and too many passes are completed.

Let's hope we somehow win this one.

I think Kerry is up to the task if he gets support.

    Go Colts!!

  3. I'm actually hoping it's a tad over so we grab Andrew Luck. I'm not saying, I'm just saying :P.

To me, this season was going to be a Superbowl run and the Colts being the first team in league history playing in their own stadium. Now we're debating whether we will even make the playoffs! Quite a reversal of fortune. That to me is a lost season I'd rather we get something out of it with a good pick in next year's draft. Yes, we may go 8-8 or 9-7, but that may not qualify us for the playoffs.

Also, getting stomped will further prove to the league how important Peyton Manning was, and may silence some Brady vs. Manning critics. There should be no doubt after this season who is more important to his team, but we cant prove that if we go 11-5.

Peyton literally had not one, not two, but three neck surgeries in the span of 19 months. The third happened recently:

My guess is the reports elsewhere are confirmed - I think he's out the entire season. He may come back week 15 or 16, but why bother if the season is lost before then?

Ok let me get this straight. You don't want the Colts to go 11-5 without Peyton so it could prove he is better than Brady. Please tell me you wrote that as a joke. If not, hop on the weinermobile my friend your thinking is flawed.

  4. I know this is a big hypothetical, but im just trying to look at the silver lining here. If peyton were to miss the entire year I honestly think we would get a top 5 pick. I really dont think andrew lucks is the way to go. If peyton had 3 or 4 year contract that would be fine, but luck wouldnt take over til his 5th year in the NFL. not worth it.

But, we could pick up a few big time players in round 1 and 2, seeing as our 2nd round player would be darn close to where we normally pick in round 1. In a weird way peyton missing a year could almost help him have a better shot to win a SB before he retires than continually overachieving into the playoffs but being just short on talent to win and then not getting high picks in the draft to replenish the roster effectively. How?

Well, as we know our top picks have struggled as of late. And yes polian has done well later in drafts to find gems. The problem is most of those great steals become solid starters. Not bona fide superstarts, those are usually found in round 1. Having a early round 1 pick and in round 2 as well could give the colts the opportunity to draft instant impact players.

Imagine peyton getting justin blackmon as a WR, that could totally reinvigorate the colts O. Grab a really good guard or center in round 2, give nevis costanzo and ijalana a year to develop. The team could be really good given one year with high draft picks. Blackmon could allow reggie wayne to see more single coverage effectively prolonging his career (if we resign him). Maybe if the colts feel comfortable at WR, they could get a stud DT DE or maybe a CB (Im not real knowledegeable about upcoming draft at this point).

I guess, im just trying to find a way to make what is possibly going to be a long, painful season into a good thing.

With some new highly talented players around him, maybe peyton could get a few late career 'ships a la john elway.

anyone else agree with my odd, distorted view of what I could see happening?

Please dont take anything in this post as negativity bashing or question my fanhood. I say this, because i can see people interpreting it this way, and i dont mean it like that at all.

anyway, tell me what you think! (try to be nice haha)

Your logic is pretty much if someone loses their job it can be a good thing because they would pay less taxes.

  5. Sorry fellow Colts Fans.........I simply can't resist the urge to write this. I have serious concerns about the viability of fielding a competitive team. I believe that even with 18 behind center, we have some serious question marks with this club. Here are the facts:

    - Our offensive line will feature a rookie at LT, a new starter at LG and our perennial starting RT moving over to LG and a new starting RT.

    - We are skinny in the secondary and one of our corners, Jacob Lacey, wouldn't start for many teams in this league (latter point JMO)

    - Austin Collie and Gonzalez haven't practiced in over 3 weeks.

    - Peyton Manning is out indefinitely

    - Backup QB to Manning is 38 years old and has only been with our club less than 3 weeks heading into season opener

These are the facts of the case. Feel free to add any other "substantial" facts that I may have missed. I don't know folks...........but put all of this together and I feel like the pendulum is about to swing heavily in the other direction for this club. For crying out loud, we haven't even played a snap of the regular season and we already have 2 studs (Peyton for sure) and AC most likely out for week 1 and Bethea may also not be available Sunday. I am doing my best to be as optimistic as possible but when I have those 4 bullet points above staring right at me, my head begins to take over my heart and reality is beginning to set in. If Manning misses more than 4 games, our season, in my opinion, may as well be mailed in. Sadly, teams like the Bengals may do worse than us. What kills me most is I am not expecting a winning season and even with Manning, I expected a sub par year (Colts standards). But I fear that not only will we have a losing record this year, I fear our club will be so bad, many of our losses will be very one sided. I don't know man. Life always tends to balance things out and I believe we are about to see all of those crazy good years begin to get balanced out. I pray that I am wrong..........but my head just won't let me. So I reach out to my fellow level headed Colts fans and ask, what say you............be honest?

Wow. I am throwing out all my Colts stuff based on what you said.

  6. 1st off i wanna say manning is an * for waiting until late may early june to have the surgery and not as soon as the off season started and with or without manning i had the texans beating us so no big deal lets hopes he gets back week 2. we still have no run d so foster is gonna run all over us again part 2

I think we are going to have to put up at least 35 points to have a shot at winning.
