  1. Yeah. If they come out too aggressive, Luck could get them with the hard count like he did against the Texans.

i disagree with the hard count part completely. We are not gonna get any hard counts there, that place is 2nd only to seattle. Ray was laughing about it earlier this year about how he didnt mind road games cuz he didnt have to yell at teammates on the sidelines. Forget the hard count, i wouldn't be surprised if Luck is preparing the Silent count this week.
  2. AROUND THE LEAGUE

Ray Lewis' statement to media on his retirement

"I talked to my team today and I talked to them about life in general. Everything that starts has an end. It's just life.

"For me, today, I told my team that this would be my last ride. I told them I just felt so much peace in where I am with my decision because of everything I've done in this league. I've done it, man. There's no accolade that I don't have individually but I've never played the game for individual stats. I've only played the game to make my team be a better team.

"Now, God is calling. God is calling in so many other areas of life and my children have made the ultimate sacrifice for their father, the ultimate for 17 years. Whether it's jump on the plane, jump right back, go to school, and I don't want to see them do no more. I've done what I wanted to do in this business and now, it's my turn to give them back something. It's either hold onto the game or keep playing or let my kids miss out on times we could be sharing together. I promised my son if he got a full-ride scholarship, Daddy was going to be there. I can't miss that. I don't know if I could sit in a meeting room and fight with that war.

"One of the hardest things in the world is to walk away from my teammates because that's my brotherhood, the only thing that I ever played for is to be right there and to raise Ed and to be with Sizzle for so long and to sit next to him. We're so much on the same path. Does that part hurt? Absolutely. You can never rebuild those bonds. Those bonds are forever. But the chapter is huge for me to now step into other areas of life.

"I may be gone now. But I ain't gone forever. I'm just going in another phase of life. I think my fans, I think my city, they deserve it. They deserve that whenever this road stops, for me not just to walk away and be like, 'I'm done.' I think we all get to enjoy what Sunday will feel like knowing that this will be the last time 52 plays in a uniform in Ravens' stadium."

    . Man cant wait
  3. Im not sure if it's just me but the news of Ray Lewis retiring changes the dynamics of this game for me. That entire team will be motivated, emotionally. We beat Green Bay this season when we had no business doing so because of the emotion. The Ravens are already favored, I will not be surprised at all if our offense gets shut down completely by that defense.

Initially, I had a us winning and being able to go play at Denver/Ne, but now I feel like the only way we win is if Flacco comes and throws picks. Also I feel guilty that I want Ray to go out with a ring, but they play us first so its emotional limbo for me as I wanted us to get atleast one win this year.

    Thoughts?

Ps: Typing on a mobile so cant really proof ready, and apologize for the incoherence.

  5. People need to understand the difference between owning a division and winning a division. Look at the AFC East to see an example of "Owning" the division. The AFC South has been owned by us for practically a decade, lets wait a few more years before we say Houston owns this division.

  6. QBR is a really good stat. Only thing is, its not a very good indicator game to game, best to look at it long term, where it shows its colors. Anyone saying this stat doesnt mean anything, please look at the highest QBR seasons. Its almost spot on.

Luck has been outplaying RG3, as I believe John Clayton pointed out, he has one of the highest completions of 20+. Also pointed out there is a difference between throwing the ball 10 yards, an letting your wideout run 30, and throwing the ball 40 yards in the air. There is a reason Luck has the highest QBR right now, if he can maintain it is the question. He is easily playing like a Top 10 right now. I call it like I see it.

  7. He did about as I expected. When the line gave him time to throw he looked pretty good. He lead a couple of nice drives. What he did at the end of the first half even though it didn't get points was really good.

He had a couple of bad luck INTs, there should have been a flag on the one where the ball was under thrown and it sure looked like the the Colts thought they had a free play. The other one was just a great play by the Bears that's going to happen. The fumble is a product of bad o-line play and Peppers just being in the right spot.

One thing I would be concerned about is he had some accuracy issues. He's a rookie QB playing his first game on the road against the Bears so I am not going to freak out over this. Just something I noticed. He over threw a few WRs today and it's just something he needs to work on based on this game that's all.

I remember Archie telling a story once of talking to Peyton after the first Pats game his rookie year when Peyton just had an awful game and his dad said Peyton told him "Dad no one is open." Luck had that look at times today and that's just something that is going to come in time.

All and all I'd say it was about on par with Manning's first outing as a QB. It wasn't great like RG3's but it wasn't as bad as Tannehill either.

  8. Per Adam Schefter

During this summer of quarterback talk, the most interesting and thought-provoking statement came from a Colts executive who declared that he believed Luck already is "one of the top five quarterbacks in football."

Think about that. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger. And yet this Colts executive believes Luck is better than at least two of those quarterbacks. And he was not alone.

One NFL coach who watched Luck play this summer said he also would include Luck in a list of the game's top five quarterbacks. Another NFL executive said Luck is the most well-prepared quarterback to enter the NFL. Ever. Three men, three glowing opinions.

It all seems like so much, so soon. Yet rookie quarterbacks seem to be making plenty possible these days.

Told about the statements of those NFL men, that Luck already is among the top five quarterbacks in the game and the most prepared quarterback ever to enter the league, ESPN analyst (and former Colts president) Bill Polian scoffed. "Let's see him win a game or two first," Polian said.

. Polian sounds bitter..... Also I'd like top point out, Adam has Colts being major surprise of the year and making the playoffs. He has been saying this for a while now.
