  1. Realistically, if our offense doesn't work, I'll be shocked. So, I think it depends on defense. We still have 2 of the best pass rushers in the league...if they are put in position to succeed, they know how to do that. With our new Dline acquisitions, I think we'll stop the run better than before, so the question is can we stop the pass. that's what has everybody angry about on our board, not getting a top notch CB. That may well be the determining factor THIS year. I think our DB's will step up. New era.

......I absolutely agree about needing to play pass defense. That must improve over last year and I think it will.....on offense, if the line plays well, they will score enough points to win...
  2. With all the money we will have next year, we should resign Pat McAfee, and Powers, Moala, and Collie provided they can stay healthy and produce.

Then I would love to see us target one good stud. Maybe a LT like Jake Long. Or dreaming here, but CB Darrelle Revis!!!

.........yes, and I don't think we should rule out Freeney either......if he plays up to his own high standard in the new defense, I think the Colts will resign him....he stated recently he wants to end his career in Indy.........
  3. Going from Law Firm to Addai is a pretty big downgrade IMO. Addai was good for 2 maybe 3 years. Best of luck though.

.............not trying to be contentious.....you're entitled to your opinion, but it demonstrates my point about Addai being under-appriciated......."LawFirm" career rush ave (4 years) : 4.0..............4 years with Pats total TDs : 29

    Addai's career rush ave (6 years) : 4.1.......first 4 years with Colts total TD's : 43

  4. I wish Addai the best of luck. One of the more humble, and unselfish running backs in the league.

Behind that O-line he'll be more productive.

.....I believe he is one of the most underrated and under-appriciated players in the league....not great at any one thing, but good at everything....I know money and durability were issues, but I really thought he would have been a huge help to Luck and the offense....hated to see him go...REALLY hate to see him go to the Patriots....
  5. I posted a month or so ago that I thought the Colts should have retained Addai and used him like the Patriots did with Kevin Faulk all those years. He's not durable enough to be an every down back, but with his good hands and good blocking he could be an asset on third downs for years to come. How many times did we see Brady convert 3rd downs by dumping off to Faulk? now it looks like it will be Addai....will hate to see that.

  6. Another way to look at it is : When was the last time an NFL franchise retained their GM, head coach, and QB, and each of them have many years of NFL experience at their positions, but the team has ANOTHER losing season, just like the year before, and the year before that......spend many years with all that expience and never even come close to the Super Bowl?

  7. Grigson said, "He can play the slot, he can play outside.".....there are going to be multiple formations depending on who they are playing and what kind of defense in being run......no one knows right now, not even the coaches, exactly how it will all shake out ..................similar to the O-line. Alot of second year guys and some new vets. Who's going to play where? We'll know the answer in September.

  8. How many other visits had he made and how many did he have scheduled?

.....he had dinner with Jerry Jones on Feb. 7th. He was served duck with rasberry sauce, he was offered a 5 year contract like Garcon's (42.5 million)...but turned it down because he wanted a cheesburger....so he signed a 1 year contract with the Colts for 615 thousand....I know, I know sounds crazy.....
  9. It is wisdom to sign Avery to the vet minimum. That is a reflection of the circumstances not of some kind of doubt about his abilities. If we did not think he could go, we would not have signed him. He's going to be our #2.

Between Collie and Avery, Avery is the bigger bet to make it through the season. Collie's concussions make him the far bigger risk. And the signing of T.Y. is a pretty good indicator that the front office thinks so.

    We'll see.

.......it would be wisdom to sign EVERY single vet at a vet minimum....why don't they?.......answer: because 31 other teams are be bidding for their services....not only do the Colts think Avery is a big question mark....SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE..........
  10. Nah Avery is not a question mark. Or we would not have signed him.

.........Avery had 8 receptions last year.....signed a ONE year contract with the Colts for $615,000.....very well may turn out that he can produce at a high level...I hope he does......but there's no doubt that the Colts themselves are unsure
  11. Just to make sure you guys are clear you realize his concussions were 2 seasons ago right? You do know that he took hits last year n didnt miss a single snap right? His problems in 2010 have been discussed up and down and most have concluded that his problem was he never truly recovered from the first one which led to the second n on n on.

Back on topic though i think marv proved you dont have to be big in body to be big in playmaking. This kid is wicked fast and should take a decent load off our other threats.

..........if fans on this board say he's not more susceptable to a future career-ending concussion because he's already had two....that's good enough for me...
  12. Can't you pay even less on a rookie contract? And get younger? He must have more upside somewhere. Otherwise, I don't see it. Even Sorgi was let go when his years of service was to inflate his salary some.

.....he apparently had one contract with the Chargers...played little. Had one contract with the Ravens..played some. Back-up with Chargers, not resigned. Back-up with Ravens, not resigned......if he were starting material someone would have given him alot more than the Colts did....not saying he's terrible...I hope he's good...but all indications are: he is not good enough to be a starting NT in the NFL...
  13. For everyone questioning this pick take 6 minutes of your life to watch his dang highlights. Id say hes more than just a slot/punt returner guy..

..........he looks like a very good football player. A natural receiver. Grigson was ecstatic after drafting him, and he probably watched every single college play the guy was involved in.....
