sd might be superbowl bound but balt and new england{to name a couple}might have something to say about that.
i think sb is way too premature lol
from what i saw out of my chargers today, i wouldn't pick em over teams like GB, unless they can get more consistent and quit making so many mistakes
down 17-7 vs minnesota in your own house is NOT ok, even though they responded in the 2nd half
my confidence is not at peak levels whatsoever, after that close call

Bob looked great in the opener today. He was constantly in on the play - don't know his stats, but he played well.
i wouldn't say great
he was solid vs the run on all but one long AP run, and him and jammer teamed up to stuff a sweep play which was very nice, but he did let jenkins get open in the endzone for a td (maybe that wasn't his zone, but it sure looked like it)
anyway, at least he's not one of the guys who got hurt, so we can build on that!
aside from the 1 run by AP and the qb scrambles, our run D looked pretty nice
-
i actually think washington is in ALOT better shape than a team like the jags , but we'll see
i like the redskins up and coming D alot
-
i find it hard to fault him either way in terms of decisions
if he retires, he's choosing his life and family, over a mere sport/job
if he keeps playing, he's just that much more of a warrior
no lose situation for him, especially with that awesome contract which i believe he deserved , player or not, for what he's given to the nfl.
-
i also like that when wes welker tried to vaguely talk smack about rex ryan, bb put the player in his place, dayum quick
-
i think he's a fascinating person, and a great football mind, and a wonderful backstory
the way he acts, and his humor , often makes me think he's the "a beautiful mind" type of the nfl
that comment about facebook and twitter he gave to the reporter (it's on youtube) was commedy gold

Chargers going to the show would be exciting...But do you really think they can make it? I mean they're like the cursed playoff team. They're like the Suns of the NFL. They can make it every year and never win it. That'd be a heck of a shootout though.
so was peyton before they won the sb (despite him throwing more ints than tds that playoffs)

First, sorry to hear about Manning. As a NE fan, I can relate to how the Colts fans must feel.
As far as this "who is the greatest" debate is concerned, with all due respect, I and most independent observers and experts disagree. I personally still consider Joe Montana the greatest I have seen play.
yup.......

Where would you place Peyton if Kerry Collins leads us to a SB victory this year?
if he goes 11-5 (KC) he's basically pulling a matt cassel but with a playoff berth
-
even if he never plays another game, for what he's done for the league and your organization, it's a lovely parting gift if that's what it ends up being
-
eh , steelers went what, 3-1 without ben last year? you should just trust the rest of your talent
i've seen too many people acting like indy is just a one man team
simply not true
-
i actually have so much more respect for peyton as a person than a player
IMO he's been THE ambassador of the nfl, helping even other team's players in the offseason, calling players up who are maybe not adjusting to the nfl life or speed of the game
i love the guy , i just don't think he's the best ever, and i don't think all of his mvp awards were 100% deserved
but as a person, he's awesome.
as a person, i'd rank him above any other qb i ranked above him as a player.
-
I see so you're only including his 1st SB run? Well he played against 2 top 5 defenses, and his first SB was in the pouring rain. I know it wasn't the best, but the Ravens and Bears had ridiculously good defenses that year.
I still don't recall Montana leading the leagues worst run defense into the playoffs.
Jo Mo is a legend, and is arguably the best ever. But people left out all his flaws or his not so good times. I guess his 4SB wins makes everyone completely oblivious to them.
just the fact peyton's 1-1 in superbowls also makes him less than 1st
i mean heck, even his playoff record for years was pretty bad
before that one sb win, he was known as a choker
even one of the mvps he was awarded, shoulda been favre's...easily
-
Enh if he doesn't he doesn't. Dan Marino didn't have a great Super Bowl but it doesn't seem to hurt what people thought about him for the long run.
actually it does
that's why people place marino under guys like montana elway brady and peyton
-
Hahahahaha...thats like saying robert horry is the greatest basketball player ever because he has 7 and michael jordan only has 6, and magic johnson has less...not a good argument at all. pointless to debate...
makes more sense than calling robert horry the joe montana of the nba.....that's kinda ...no actually, that's very stupid lol

Friendly reminder you are on a COLTS forum. When you dis our beloved QB, it could start a fight in a time when fans are worried about his health and on edge. Remember to show P. Manning some respect. Like another poster said, Super Bowls are won by team.. not by one individual.
oh i think he's one of the greats, just not #1
i have montana elway and brady above him
-
greatest ever was montana
never threw even an int in a superbowl
peyton's sb run was one of the worst statistical qb playoffs i can recall
eli manning's sb run, was actually some dayum good stats for a qb
-
And he picked the Chargers to go to the Super Bowl for like the 4th straight year too...
Anyways, when this team is healthy we're the same 14-0 team with a better D and O Line. With the tough schedule 14-2 is not going to happen, but 12-4 or 13-3 is very possible.
he picked steelers last year
do some research.....
-
the chargers are your kryptonite, possibly keeping indy from having won at least one extra lombardi, but then again, ya never know what would have happened afterwards, but sd's D certainly has owned disrupted the heck outta Peyton
-
if you want to label someone a steroid user (which i don't think is smart) how about osi umenyiora?
a guy who lost an entire season due to an injury on a play where no one made contact with him, and now he's had to have surgery again, a couple years later
weird....both injuries coming with no contact involved....
-
i think the lions probably have the best D line in the nfl.....
-
boldins numbers would drop from leaving a pass happy cards team to a run first ravens off. i do consider him a franchise qb. if you were the owner would you go into the draft room saying we need a qb? no. cb? yes. tightend? yes.
exactly...i consider this the true and correct answer
-
i consider a qb a franchise qb if you feel the only way they're going to quickly lose the #1 spot is via injury
so right now i'd say that makes flacco a franchise qb
some people have different definition, and confuse it with the word "elite" or the term "very good" or even "good"
those are really just rungs on the ladder, but if you've drafted a qb who you're grooming for the top spot (cam newton, andy dalton, christian ponder) or even one you've just traded for who you are handing the top spot to (kolb) then that is the true definition of a franchise qb IMO (the team believes he is the clear present, or future #1 guy

good signing
kerry hasn't worked with that much talent since he led the giants to the sb

i didn't really see much out of sanders from game 1 that suggests pro bowl, let alone all pro
i think some of you sanders fans are overreacting a bit
