  1. Honestly, the Saints are really the winner. They needed picks to fix that defense and that O-Line, and they are pretty much getting the best of both worlds.

Jimmy wasn't a game changer, and he demanded huge money, also the drama this last off season probably caused the Saints to re-think keeping him with this franchise.

I think the Saints feel comfortable about getting some good picks this year in the draft.

The NFC South will be dominated by the Panthers for a long time.

  2. Either way the Jets got a good player at a good value since they have tons of cap space since they have a nobody no good QB and they will not have to invest big money on a QB for a long time if they go the draft route unless they sign a big free agent QB like Brees or Kaepernick.

  3. The defense took a HUGE hit. Between Wilfork (who wasn't that great in 2014, but still a big piece) and Revis -- who allowed the Pats secondary to do a lot of things that they haven't been able to do in a long time. As a matter of fact, McCourty's effectiveness without Revis is diminished.

They also lost Browner, who I don't think is anything but average, at best, and a flag magnet.

I still want Browner back, we need his attitude on that defense. I like the way he gets physical and he can play tight ends too.

Butler is not ready to cover the outside, he can take over the Arrington role in the slot. We will see how things pan out in the draft, BB has have tons of misses in drafting a cornerback. I think the Patriots need to give something up and go up in the draft and grab a cornerback.

  4. Guaranteed through two years, partially guaranteed in Year 3. Basically a three year deal.

Still a 33-32 mil deal for 2 years, he is getting paid big time.

Revis will be good for another 2-3 years for sure as long as he stays injury free.

The Jets defense is looking good so far, the question is, will they still be good without Rex at helm on the defensive side?

I am not worried about the Jets as much as the Bills, now that's a playoff contender team.

I think at this point the Patriots need to focus on signing Spiller, I think he is a better player than Roy Helu. I wouldn't mind signing Harvin at Vet minimum, I doubt the guy will get any big deals.

The main concern for me as a Pats fan is our defensive linemen, without Wilfork there is a big void, and there is no one on our roster that is going to fill that role. They need to pick a DT in the first two rounds in this years draft.

  5. Not going to get another Revis, but I think they will be okay.

Yeah, unfortunately there is only one Revis in this league.

He is a solid guy and really liked him. At the end of the day Revis enjoyed being in NY and has lots of friends there.

Its almost like LeBron's case.......leave to win a championship, comeback where your heart really is at afterwards.

  6. This trade is a case of dumb and dumber IMO. Chip Kelly just got rid of it his best offensive weapon which leaves him with none as he cut Jackson last year. He has Foles as his QB who was not very good in the limited amount of games he played. So when Foles struggles, who is there to pick up the slack? Not to mention this high octane offense gases his offense as much as any defense he plays. Again, this has shades of McDaniels when he went to Denver and got rid of Cutler and Marshall. I am sure Kelly has a plan but right now it is only apparent to him.

In terms of the Bills, you never trade a top defensive player for a RB. This is similar to the Colts giving the number one for Trent although at least McCoy is a proven solid back. I get it more on Rex's end though as he needs to run given he has no QB and he has to be able to ball control to keep the Pats from hanging 30+ on him every game. But he could have had a quality back in the draft for nothing and he also has Spiller and Jackson on the roster who are very good/stud backs. RB was NOT a need for him.

Well the Bills are primed to make a playoff run with that defense and Rex things its time to go all out. He has enough cap since that team is young, so they haven't really committed huge contracts to many of their players, so they still have room to add via free agency.

  7. Yes that is possible too. The other thing is they have other contracts to think about as well next year with Hightower and Jones although they could do the 5th year option on both. The issue with not signing McCourty is the safety FA market is thin with no one close to his caliber and the draft is thin as well. He has stated that he wants to retire a Patriot so I am hopeful they can come to an agreement. But you are right. Who knows what they will do. I can never understand the cap and all the ways contracts can be worked and manipulated. I am glad posters like you and Superman are here to help break some of that stuff down when contracts are signed.

I wouldn't mind parting ways with Jones, he hasn't impressed me much...he needs to be better at covering the edges, we got burned few times because of him.

Now, back to topic, I would want to keep Devin McCourty with the team more than Revis, I would love to keep them both, but these days its very hard to find a good safety that can cover.

I feel comfortable at our corner back position, they all played well the whole season.
