I'm sorry if this is tied into a post I haven't seen but my weekend schedule is full and I'm curious as to if there is another way to watch the field drills for the combine without watching live or individually watching each on youtube? I put more stock in those than the 40 or bench press and I'm stuck because the nfl site doesn't show the results.

Richardson will have to wait. They don't want to cut him before they know that the PA's appeal is denied. If they cut him and he wins the appeal we Are stuck paying him.

We need players with attitude. We need rough and nasty, in your face players who hit hard and then stares the opponent down. We need players with swag and players who put fear in our opponents. We need players who will do anything to win, and who think losing is inacceptable. We could sign Suh and be fine cap wise. Look at Denver, they have stars all around and are fine with their cap situation. Some people think we should never sign any good players and I still don't get it. Yeah, we need to build through the draft, but we also need to sign some playmakers here and there. Especially now since we are only a few pieces away. Maybe we shouldn't sign Suh, but we certainly need to sign a few good players. Especially on the D-Line, and the O-Line.
Denver is a poor choice of example as they are in the "win now mode". They aren't expecting any of the players they sign to be there 3 or 4 years from now. The Colts are literally the polar opposite. And you can get mean players without getting dirty players. Suh has gotten lucky getting his suspensions dropped to fines to this point. No one is saying don't get a good DL through FA but Suh has already said he wants JJ Watt money and it's not worth the headache.

Two things...
I don't think anyone believes that Shelton and Sharrif are the same.
And I believe Shelton is viewed as the #1 DT in this class. No one thought that of Sharrif.
Everywhere I have read has him as as the 3rd or 4th DT with Goldman and Williams consistently being projected higher. And I never said Shelton and Floyd were the same. Just that quality players drop in drafts.

Shelton is NOT falling.
Of all the DT's in the draft, he's the highest rated as of today.
That could change, but he's a top-10 guy.
And if something does change, the chances that he falls out of the top-10 all the way to 29 are right around zero.
Sorry, but this dream is not happening.
No offense but you just described Sharrif. A similar story is Aaron Rodgers. And my thinking is everyone will be trying to get their hands on all the LBs and WRs In the first that the DTs COULD drop a bit. I understand it's a long shot. But it's happened before...

Just curious to see what everyone thinks about Danny Shelton. Any chance he falls in the draft? Only 6'1" but he has the weight and everything I've read on him said it doesn't diminish his foot speed or athleticism.

Maybe its just me but it always seemed like Addai would get hit much harder than other running backs. Even on routine tackles, looked like kill shots.
That's what happens when you stop your momentum. That's one of the 1st things they teach you as a running back. Don't stop. Keep going forward. I never understood how he could lay a linebacker out coming in on a pass rush but he would be so tentative on a gut or dive play.

Of course Addai was good before he was healthy, you don't go over 1300 yards in total yards two years in a row and have 23 td's over the first 2 years of your career if your not good, His problem was injuries took that away from him and then the O Line went to garbage to add onto that
It wasn't just injuries and O-line that caused him to regress. It was the fact he lost the burst through the hole and on many occasions would try to do too much stutter stepping or would run straight to the side line and would never head north. Much like Richardson

He's a stiff, upright runner who doesn't posses good vision in traffic and is too reliant on big plays.
I agree he needs to get a forward lean going if he wants any shot at falling forward in the NFL and his speed his slightly above average at best. But I like his vision. I'll admit I didn't get to watch as much of IU as I wanted but what I did see i thought his vision was great considering he had to run through 8 or 9 men boxes.

I don't understand where the Boom love has gone. Sure he is a little T.O. prone but for the most part he kept it to a minimum. He showed the burst through the hole that we were expecting TRich to bring. Someone a while back mentioned about going to a zone scheme. I believe Herron would thrive in that style. Why not save a 1st,2nd and 3rd round picks for OL, Safety or LB?

Every position is that way. Not just RBs. Every position, every player, every team needs the right situation/ timing. Put RG3 and Luck on each other's teams they aren't anywhere near as good as they were. Without RG3 Morris doesn't blow up. Without Wayne Luck doesn't have as many wins. Its about taking what you have already seen instead of blind faith on a college RB against inferior competition. And without signing a FA RB we would be with Brown as our starting RB. We have seen how that has gone.

Dime a dozen RBs? Tell that to the RBs I just mentioned. All of the top RBs have been taken in different rounds of the draft. There are over 300 picks every year. MOST are busts. You take the best you have and Ill take Tate over the top RBs in the draft just for the proven record. Packers, Denver, and Pittsburgh all still have question marks at the RB position. All took RBs high in this years draft.

Average fan??? You don't know what kind of fan I am. Look at Tate's PROFESSIONAL resume, It's proven. Period. Pay the little extra money and know what you get compared to drafting a RB and him being a bust. Everyone acts like the draft is a sure thing. Most high draft picks end up being middle of the road or bust players. Id pay the extra money to know that I have a PROVEN back. If it weren't for Lynch, Rice, Peterson, Charles, McCoy or Martin their respective Offenses/ Teams wouldn't be anywhere near as powerful as they are. You have to have a quarterback to win championships, but never discount the impact of a Solid back.

No, I'm talking picking Tate up in Free Agency next off season. The Texans have to resign Watt and other players while they still have 3 years of Foster after this year. If they trade him at least they get something for him instead of him leaving and them getting nothing for him. That's why I think they MIGHT trade him. But I say we wait until next off season and tell him he gets to be a #1 RB on a team that is run 1st and has the fast receivers to draw safety attention with a QB who is destined for greatness and has the Defensive minded coach to take the ball away and give us more possessions to take the lead early in games.

He's young, talented, versatile and exactly what the Colts are looking for in a RB1. Heyward- Bey, Jean-Francois, Cherillus, AND Landry all said they came because the team was already getting better and on the rise. Is it too soon to think about it? Is it a good idea?
I also want to say I absolutely love the idea of a Ben Tate, Vick Ballard 70/30 split with Tate as the FEATURE BACK.

Cherilus is worth every penny. He was a major cog in a O-line that was top 5 in the league the last 3 years. And no Francois wasn't a roster starter, but he played a major role in the 9ers D. They brought him in to take up 2 blocks and free up angerer and freeman. And Toler is a M2M CB that isn't afraid to hit someone. I don't see how they were over paid. I do however agree about Walden. That even stumped me. "In Grigson We Trust"
walden's contract. we made our new RT the highest paid RT in the league. toler got 5 mil a year for one year of production. francois got over 5 mil and barely started

The top 5 picks could be either Offensive or Defensive linemen. How many linemen could go in the first round this year? Should the Colts aim for one or go after a CB or LB?

Quick little thing I put together...
This is Dwight Freeney' final year of his contract, and reports are saying that he will most likely be leaving the Colts. If that's the case, there must be a guy that replaces him. I break down the possible candidates.
Jerry Hughes
Well, Hughes has done little to show the Colts that he should start. So, if they go with Hughes, it's going to be based on potential and a lot of hope will be involved. Hughes has played behind Freeney for the last few years, and has slowly gotten better. Has he proven that he’s a starter? No, but as mentioned, this would be a move that is based on potential. He did have a decent season this year, especially in the running game. When in the game, he showed that he has a good motor and can be useful in the running game. Wouldn’t be the worse choice.
Paul Kruger
Chuck Pagano knows this guy the best of the group. Kruger had a breakout season in Baltimore. He had 9 sacks, with 7.5 of them coming in the last 8 games of the season (and 2.5 against the Colts in the playoffs). Kruger can be used in both run and pass rushing situations. He’s a 3 down guy, which is something the Colts could use, considering Freeney isn’t exactly the best 3 down outside linebacker. Kruger is perhaps the best fit of any of these guys, because he has a familiarity with the head coach and some other players, he knows the system well, and he’s a proven player.
Anthony Spencer
Spencer had a breakout year in Dallas, recording 12.5 sacks and proving to be a great compliment to Demarcus Ware. He’s very athletic and strong, which makes him a good fit for the strongside outside linebacker spot. Spencer is still young knows the system well, and wouldn’t be overly expensive, which makes him a good fit in Indianapolis.
Connor Barwin
Barwin didn’t have a great season, actually he only had 3 sacks, but he’s still a very good player. He knows how to get to the quarterback; he has a very good arsenal of moves that have worked against some of the best tackles in the game. On top of being a solid pass rusher, he’s also pretty good against the run. He may not be a threat on every play, but he’s a good tackler, so he can be used on early downs. Not a great 3 down player, but he can do it.
Shaun Phillips
Bit of a sleeper pick, but he shouldn't be; Shaun Phillips has a good relationship with Colts defensive coordinator Greg Manusky, and fits in well at the outside linebacker spot. He got 9.5 sacks this last season, which shows he's still very productive. The only downside is that he's 31 years old, and not getting any younger. If the Colts do elect to sign Phillips, they would only get 2, maybe 3 good years out of him.
I understand where you are coming from but id rather spend the money on the lines and draft for everything else. No Hughes wouldn't be the best at the position but he has been somewhat productive in his back-up role. Next year is looking to be a deep defensive year again. Lets get the Lines settled first to create stability up front and piece everything else together.

Yeah, that talk about signing Boldin or Bowe is fantasy stuff. Grigs is too smart for that. He's already on record saying he's not going to break the bank for any one player unless everyone agrees they absolutely need him. No WR fits that definition.
I don't expect him to go after Long either. But for $20m he can pick up at least 4 really solid players. Or he could get Kruger for around $8m and then get two decent OGs.
Don't forget, though, you can alter the payments to either front or backload the deal. But I completely agree. However my thoughts were we need to spend the money on the lines and draft for the other positions.

All this talk about all of our offensive weapons but we really have a bunch of unproven talent and inconsistency. Especially at the TE position. Does anyone think Fleener or Allen or even Swoope finally shows the consistency that we need over the middle? For that matter will Hilton, Moncrief and Johnson be able to remove us from the top of the most drops list?
