Brady is what happens when you are a fitness nut and clean living guru. All the others are burgers & fries and it shows when you pass a certain age.
As a nutrition researcher, clean living is marketing babble, but whatever Brady is doing is working for him so more power to him for that. I think his pass protection and offensive system has a lot to do with his longevity as well.
As for Eli - I want to see him get traded to a contender. He deserves to go out with a shot at January football somewhere.- 1

Its well known that belichick coaching tree isnt great has nothing to do with playing for the man himself. Say what you want about the man he's a legit football genius. True genius doesn't transfer.
Ernie Adams doesn't transfer either

The Patriots have a different reputation in clubhouses than they do on fan forums.
Here they're the fn Patriots, the Cheats and all that crap, but to the guys on the field, they're a franchise you want your name associated with, because they're run like a machine and compete every year.
FWIW - Clowney didn't want to play for another BB coaching tree coach. We should all be worried if/when O'Brien gets fired and they bring someone else in. Vrabel isn't exactly setting the world on fire either.

When you've got an all-world all-time talent in your stable, you ride it util it won't ride anymore. We coulda figured something out in 15 16 when Peyton ran out of mileage. Ended our part of a good rivalry way too early.
Peyton would have had more in the tank if Denver stayed in his offense. He was on track for another MVP until Elway demanded change midway through Fox's last year. People forget that Fox to the Bears was rumored the morning the Colts beat them in the playoffs. The next year, asking a 38 year old to run the Kubiak offense cut Peyton's career short IMO. His arm looked gone, but the lower body played a role in that as well. If the same thing happened to Brady at 38, he'd be retired soon after too.

How I see this playing out:
- Pats go 9-1 then Gordon is suspended again
- A few weeks later AB starts skipping practice & meetings - is annoyed with double coverage etc, so the Patriots cut him
- But, it's too late, the Pats defense is peaking and they get HFA
- Brady dinks and dunks them to the Superbowl as the weather gets cooler and the Pats D dominates
- Rest of the world prays someone beats them in the big game

Listen to the JMV interview with Joe Reitz. Joe spoke with Luck and while he didn't give anything away, when JMV asked him if he thought he would stay retired, he quickly and confidently said yes.

Before. Rumor has popped up a few times now.
Also a rumor that Luck pretty much "mailed in" his calf/ankle rehab this time around.
As someone that is an "average" healer that tore all of my ankle ligaments (twice) while playing college baseball (basically, the worst "high ankle sprains" you can suffer), I started to have serious concerns about what was going with Luck when he still wasn't ready by August.
I didn't have anywhere near the resources Luck has available (I had stimulation therapy, cold tub treatment, and pain management), and I missed about 6 weeks.
I 100% believe, from all the circumstantial evidence available, that Luck's issues are mental in nature, not physical.
I don't know if I 100% agree, but deep down, he must have a craving to be doing something else with his life. There must be another itch he is eager to scratch. Whatever that is, I suspect we won't be finding out about it until next year some time or later.

I wonder if Ballard's gamble on Kelly was more calculated than we all think.

Link? And if so, that’s a very very bad thing for his agent to do.
It was on JMV's show today

Doyel seems to think that Jacoby's agent leaked it. JMV says it was someone on the sideline.
It was probably both as Schefter would have needed two sources.

Well Ballard and Reich weren't Ballard and Reich back then.
Peyton/Arians running the offence and Pagano running the defense could have been interesting. But, Grigson...

Is Eli really that much worse right now than Nick Foles? I would be willing to bet Eli could put in two solid years in this system.

I think we will have a pretty good idea by week 4 or 5...

Might be best to go back to Europe for him to get away from the hoopla, to be honest.
I'd be shocked if he doesn't already have a ticket booked

Who said that team mates and/or co workers should be more important than health? However, when you make a decision to focus on one over the others, there are ways to make a much smoother exit that does not result in complete chaos. This wasn’t the way.
Had to be Irsay that leaked it...

I can't see Jacoby going over two weeks without an offensive snap in a game since he didn't play tonight
Plenty of starting QBs are doing just this. The preseason is more of a joke than ever.

I don't see Jacoby starting. No way. It's Kelly for the first half and someone not signed yet for the rest IMO.
-
With Kelly suspended, they need to sign a backup QB ASAP or make a trade.
Who do you have? I don't see them signing him, but surely you bring in Kaepernick for a workout given the physical similarities with Jacoby?

So Luck just decided this? Lots of nonsense spewed this entire TC...from multiple people in this org. Pretty difficult to trust them again.
It sounds like social media knew about this before 99% of the organization.

As a former player, I kind of understand. The timing is just horrible though.
-
I feel bad for Inman. It would seem it is nothing but an age thing and Ballard probably likes his chances of calling him midseason if needed due to injury or dropsies.

I think the Chiefs learned a lot from the Kareem Hunt fiasco, and the Adrian Peterson fiasco.
Why should a team cut a star player when they know that another team is going to pick that player up as soon as they are eligible to play again? You don't see the Redskins catching flack for Peterson, and you don't really hear anyone saying how morally wrong the Browns are for signing Hunt. It's really crazy. As much as it sucks, If I'm the Chiefs, I wouldn't cut Hill. He's going to be playing somewhere, might as well be KC.
He shouldn't be playing this year at least though
