He was named MVP because he was the QB with the last name Manning...  Sure he played decent but the defense won those Super Bowls.  In those 2 Super Bowls, the Giants held the Patriots to 14 & 17 points.  And decent QB could have been able to put up 17 & 21 points & get those wins.  And the “MVP” of those games has shown that more often than not he can’t even get his team to the postseason let alone carry them to Super Bowl victories...  So again, the Defenses were the main reasonings behind those Super Bowl victories. Eli played a role but no way was he the main reason for their ultimate success.

They all have had some pretty boneheaded throws. I would put Luck as elite because he will wreck havoic on a defense and has to be accounted for week in and week out. For him to be playing at this level after what two years off. That's the kind of player I consider ELITE. Wait til next year he's gonna be a monster for teams to deal with.

What? I said he's in my top 10, top 5 is what I'm unsure about. Top 10 doesn't mean I've ranked him 10th either. I think he's in the 5-8 range.

I'm gonna stick him in the top 3 partly because I'm a hommer. But also look at everything he has went through not just physically but mentally and getting better each week. He's had to play with virtually no receivers except Ebron. And was still putting our team in a position to win.

RTonce Smith is moved to his natural position.

WR2: need someone to take pressure off TY

WR3: Could use a solid slot receiver

Pass Rushers:  I'll take 2 please.

CB:  We need a starting and second CB badly.  I think Desir is ok to play nickel.

SS:  Don't have much faith in geathers and we need to get younger there

2nd LB:  Someone to start opposite of maniac

Rotational Depth:  always good to have backups, especially with the injury bug biting us every year.

Why would you move smith? He is balling right now.

No. Hes not the same player. Its pretty clear if you read the tea leaves that the Colts like the group we have now. Reich has gushed about the group on more than one occasion. We've had our chances to bring in a vet and haven't done so. Personally I like the 3 vets in Hilton, Grant, and Rogers. Along with the 2 rookies Cain and Fountain. I also think Ishmael will make the squad. We have a nice Tight end group with Doyle, Ebron, Swoope, Travis, which will be used heavily. And remember this O will make much greater use of the RBs in the passing game. Plus with the improved line I we will be running the ball more. All these things are why I'm not concerned about Decker.

Agreed. If we keep bringing free agents in we will really never quite know what we already have. Trial by fire.

I would say the guy who isn’t throwing yet stilll. I don’t think anyone understands the severity of the situation here. His arm is gonna he super tender and sensitive going into training camp, even going into the season. All it can take is one hit on that shoulder and that’s it, no one realizes that

I think your a bit paranoid. Anybody in this game  is one hit away from being over. Andrew has been throwing just not footballs. I don't think soreness is going to be a big deal at all.

It's not really that he can't sign any FA's, it's more the fact that he can't sign any high quality FA's. Either he can't sell them on coming to the team (which could have something to do with Luck), or he's not offering enough. I think part of it is the fact that the high quality FA's want multi-year deals, which isn't in Ballard's plans. I want Breeland for a year so we can turn him into a compensatory pick and then draft a CB next year in his spot. It's possible he doesn't want to sign for a year though. It's even more frustrating when we don't get him and he's at our weakest position overall on the team.

    Green Bay Packers

Why the Texans? I mean at this point I'd put the Jags above them. But I do think the Colts will surprise alot of people.

    I love the Colts.

I am not a blind homer.

So far Ballard talks a cocky game.  I don't see anything to say he is a managing savant however.

In fact if I had to rate his performance so far?  D.  At best.

Hold your ratings for 2 or 3 years or at the very least wait til the end of the season.

  9. Andrew will be back.

You don't put on weight and size like he has and still have a bad shoulder. I have said it a few times already, I had the same injury Andrew has. You don't look happy and like you have been benching 400 pounds with a bad shoulder or throw anything at all. Him not throwing a football is for his mental. Focus on rehab and not trying to push and get impatient with the process.

Most INDY fans would acknowledge that Luck's first 3 yrs in INDY were exciting ones & that Andrew took a considerable beating as well. Let's say for the sake of argument that Luck doesn't throw the duke until July 10. He only plays in the 3rd preseason game for a half & Sept. is a dicey month as he knocks the rust off gradually. Even if we go 9-7 & miss the playoffs to Houston or say the Jags. Would fans still say Chewy is washed up & we need to go in a new direction? I doubt it.

If the real issue is protection or a lack of a pass rush how is that Andrew's fault? All he can do is convert 3rd downs, maintain possession, & cash in TD's right?

And even if he can't go this season, most would agree we still have numerous holes to fill on our roster. Therefore, why push for our field general to subject that shoulder to more punishment which would set him further behind?

It's weird because Luck gets slammed for being too competitive for his own good while at the same time not explaining why he has yet to throw a ball like he's concealing something dire on purpose. So, he's too driven, but not honest enough for the fanbase's liking? LOL!

And these same naysayers with symbolic pitchforks & torches claiming Luck is done will say they had his back all along if Chewbacca starts stringing together consecutive regular season wins too. Just watch.

I'm excluding regulars on here I like from my last paragraph. You know who you are. I just don't listen to people on the forum who I don't routinely read weekly.

I agree with you except the last paragraph.

I have followed this forum for years. But I just became a member.

Alot of the regulars on here have % spewing out of both ends. So just because I don't post on a regular basis makes me less informed or incorrect?

no you are right. I noticed it as well. Luck and the offense seemed to flourish in the no huddle, which always made me wonder why they would go into a huddle when one thing was working.

I think alot of people did not realize either Chuck was stubborn and or could not move on from what was not working. I think you have to give Andrew the reigns and let him take control. I know alot think Grigs tied Chuck's hands but I also think he could not see what was right before his eyes. I'm almost positive alot of our comebacks and wins came from when Andrew had the reigns and went up tempo.

Personally, imo, every team that didn't win the Owl in any given year is no better or worse off than the statistically worst team in the NFL. In essence, the 2004 Colts were pretty much in the same boat as the 49ers at the end of the 04 season: left wondering what they have to do to win.

The model for building a dynastic NFL team exists: elite QB with a dominant defence. Everything else is optional. Colts don't have either. Luck can't be elite if he can't stay on the field and BDB can't buy a defence. Ergo, having an elite RB means very little.

I think you need to upgrade any and all positions possible. Getting over the top takes a team to do it and great cohesion.

    No thanks.

You don't need a killer RB to win a title. But you do need a killer OL (at least one playing well together).

Here to win titles, not to resurrect the 2004 Colts.

I really don't understand this concept. I know you can find other stud backs in the later rounds. But the way I understand it is you draft best player available and not for need. Barkley and Luck would be electrifying. Winning a title is about putting the the best team on the field not just o-line or d-line. Not picking Barkley because we have bigger issues will be a huge mistake. I will take the 04 colts over the 2016 and 2017 colts anyday of the week

And for what it's worth I just want one of the three or trade back for more picks.

A certain group of ppl chose to think it’s disrespectful and only focus on that so they can ignore the real issue behind the anthem protest.

Reid is much better than everything we have back there other than Hooker. Every other safety on the roster is bad

    Before this thread gets locked.

It's not the message the players were trying to get out it's the way they acted. I agree with their stance but not the way they brought it across. I mean the the guy who started it was wearing a Fidel Castro shirt in a presser. What kinda of hypocrisy is that!?!?. And I am in that certain group that believes you should respect the flag no matter what! The flag is a symbol of freedom. Why the hell would you kneel to that. If your going to protest do it outside of the police stations and government buildings like you should. These players have the opportunity to raise awareness and try to help our community and all you can do is have a silly interview and kneel on Sundays. I mean most of them have already moved on shows you how much it really meant to them.

That being said it would never stop me from signing a player..

Just hesitant is all, every catch no defender 5 yds from him!  Maybe this new staff will create plays to get receivers open instead relying on receivers to get their own * open.  I won’t judge this move until  the reg season but not holding your breathe!

Okay let me explain how it works. Getting open in the NFL is a very very good thing. If you are open you are either fast or ran a very good route out side of blown coverage or the defender falling. So if you saying a defender is not within 5 yards of him every catch. Then you should be excited about this potential signing.
