Carolina's the team I see "tanking for Trevor".  They draft the best players they can this year that aren't QB's; they keep Cam Newton for his last year on his contract, cross their fingers he can play 8 games without getting hurt, and bingo, they can wind up with Trevor, who's playing just a couple/few hours down the road from Charlotte.

If I were running Carolina and wanted to tank there is no way Cam Newton would be on my roster and I would probably look to see what I could get for Christian McCaffery. If you have a healthy Cam Newton and Christian McCaffery I think that you would win too many games to get the number one pick. I could be dead wrong but if the goal was to get Trevor Lawrence next year I wouldn't let Cam Newton see the field again.

  2. The only way the Bengals don't take Joe Burrow is if they are dead set on throwing away the 2020 season and tanking for Trevor. If you could get a team like Carolina to trade their 1st this year and at least a couple of other first round picks. Then maybe you consider it, but there is no guarantee that you'll be back at 1 next year. There is no such thing as a "sure thing". No matter who you draft there are going to be questions but Joe Burrow looks like a legit NFL QB. I would be hard pressed to pass that up!

  3. I would think that if the Raiders were going to trade Carr that they would do it before free agency and the draft to maximize his value. If they wait until they have Tom Brady or draft someone else then he probably loses value on the trade market. If I were Chris Ballard, I would be on the phone right now with Mike Mayock and Chucky trying to work out a trade for Carr.

  4. I hope that Drew Brees makes it to the Super Bowl next year and loses a shootout to the Colts. If that can't happen then I would love to see him win another Super Bowl. He is a great player and from everything I've ever seen and heard is just as good of a person off the field as he is on it. Good luck in 2020 Drew!

    Tampering?

There is no tampering because this isn't an official offer from the Raiders. All this is is a tweet that someone has heard that the Raiders are prepared to offer 2 years 60 million. It isn't like the Las Vegas Raiders twitter account said this. Larry Fitzgerald's dad is the one who made the tweet.

I hate to be a buzzkill, but Leonard was not snubbed for DPOY.

He said himself that he had a poor start to the season (by his, admittedly, high standards) and then he missed a few games.  He ended the year in DPOY form, no doubt about it, but he was not in the conversation for the award, based on the overall year, in my opinion.

Nick Bosa would have been my choice, but Gilmore is not a terrible choice.

Stop being a buzzkill Dave! I do agree with you though. Hopefully the way he finished the season will be a springboard to a dominant 2020 season!

  7. This is the time of year that you can basically ignore anything that you hear a GM say publicly. I'm sure to some degree they do like Tyrod Taylor, but I seriously doubt he starts the full season for them. It will probably be like it was in Cleveland with Baker Mayfield. The Chargers will draft a QB and then after a few games of Tyrod they will bring the rookie in. I know there is a lot of speculation about Brady to the Chargers but until he actually signs with another team it is hard for me to see him playing for anyone but the Pats.

  8. I usually try and be optimistic, but Andrew Luck is never going to play for the Colts again. I would love to have a player of his skill set on the roster, but I just think he gave everything he felt he could to the game and to the Colts and he is done. I honestly think we have a better chance of having Tom Brady as our QB next year than we do Andrew Luck. From his retirement press conference to every report I've read or heard since then I've just surmised that he is done with football and happy with that. I would love to be wrong on this, but I don't think I am.

  9. I am not a fan of this mock. I haven't read another mock that has Eason going in the first much less as high as our pick at 13. I have no problem if the Colts feel like Eason is the guy they want but I would wait until the 2nd round at earliest to pull the trigger on that.  Now I will admit that I don't watch a lot of college football so most of my opinion is coming from things I have read. Eason might be a stud, but based on what I've read so far this pick seems to be a reach.

  10. IMO David Carr makes the most sense for us. I have no problem with giving up a draft pick or picks to get him. Having a solid franchise QB in place is worth a couple of draft picks. I believe that Carr could be a very solid franchise QB. He may not be Andrew Luck but he is definitely an upgrade over JB. A solid QB on a balanced team with a decent defense and run game can make some noise in this league.

Todd McShay on ESPN had his mock draft.   He has the Colts taking Herbert at #13.

So us fans who don't care for Brissett are not the only ones that think he is not the QB of the future for the Colts.

Todd McShay? Who the heck is Todd McShay? There is only 1 true ESPN Draft expert and that's Mel Kiper Jr! Who right now has the Colts taking Jerry Jeudy WR Alabama at #13. McShay? Really? Haha. Just teasing.

  12. In the ESPN+ section they had an article with way too early predictions for the Super Bowl next year and Dan Graziano actually picked the Colts to make it to the Super Bowl. Of course he has us losing to the Eagles, but I found it interesting that he thought we weren't necessarily that far away. Just a few moves and we may be right in the thick of things. Fun to think about!

"Dan Graziano, national NFL writer: Eagles over Colts. I don't know who's going to be in next year's Super Bowl. What I do know is that a lot of stuff is going to happen in 2020 that no one saw coming. If you had polled 6,000 people at this time last year, none of them would have had the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. Give me a bounce-back for Carson Wentz and Doug Pederson, and let's say the Colts upgrade at quarterback and muscle past the Titans and Texans in the AFC South."

I hope so and he’s young so it may change.  But at the beginning of it he says he’s a rams fan.   I could understand giants or saints and of course colts or broncos but rams.  Ugh!  Hahaha

A lot of Peyton's Places was filmed during the 2018 season when the Rams were the toast of the NFL.

  14. I am really hoping that Reggie makes it in next year with Peyton. We all know that Peyton is getting in for sure and Reggie will be in there eventually. I just hope that they are able to go in together. Does anyone know if a QB/WR tandem has ever went in at the same induction ceremony? I can't think of any offhand. I guess I have some homework to do to see if it has ever happened before.
