  1. I will be honest with you that I was really hoping the Colts would be back this year as seeing them a couple of years back remains one of the best (sporting) days of my life.

However having read the reaction to the trip on here, I am not surprised by some of the comments above but think about it, you may miss 1 game as opposed to other fans getting see 1 game. Is that really too bad when most of the time this board is full of people complaining how bad the team is anyway. (lol).

After I realised it was not happening I priced flights from Scotland to Indy in the October school holiday and it would cost over £2000 for the 3 of us in flights alone, so it is difficult to justify for 1 game of football and perhaps a Pacers B/ball game.

That said it is my 50th Birthday this year, and for my 30th I went to see Scotland play in the soccer world cup in France, so you never know.

Nadine - you would be welcome in Scotland anytime - you could even come and enjoy a game of "real" football when you were here.

  2. Although it is always difficult to see someone lose his job, I don't think Chuck would have been overly surprised by the outcome following this season.

That said, from what I have watched over in the UK, we have not been that far away from having a decent season.

We were in winning positions in a number of games we lost, so is that just bad luck (apologies for the pun) or is it a lack of winning mentality instilled into the players.

Either way it doesn't really matter as the season is over, however surely the next season has got to be better with a new head coach and fit again QB, could be a big one for the Colts.

    An exciting 9 months beckons.

  3. Watching the clips come in last night was difficult to watch, the team just seemed devoid of everything, so I do not think you can just blame the coaches, the players need to take some professional pride as well, and that was not evident last night (I accept I could only see clips that were broadcast).

That said, it is normally the coach that has to take the blame and most likely he will leave sooner that some of the players.

Over here there a number of out of work managers/coaches ready to step in should some-one get fired, is it the same in US, or would a current assistant coach step up, and is it the norm to get rid of coaches mid season?

  4. There is a big debate over here about this subject as well, when a soccer team fails, is it the players fault or is it the way they are coached. More often than not it is the coach that is fired and the players stay.

    Taking Doyle as an example

Was he in the correct place to make the catches - Yes

Was the ball thrown to him in a way that allowed him to catch it - Yes

So how can it be the coaches fault that he dropped/fumbled the ball as often as he did?

That said it is the coaches responsibility to rally and inspire the players when things are going against them, from what I saw last night Pagano did not seem capable of doing this, especially when he saw history repeating itself in the closing stages of the game.

He should have been doing what it took to make the players aware of the consequences of another defeat rather than pick up the pieces after it happened.

I think the only thing that will make Pagano leave is if the revenues flowing into the team take a dip and the fans turn against him (if they haven't done so already), I do not like to see any-one getting the sack in any walk of life, but I do not think if he were to go he would need to "sign on" with the type of payoff he would received.

As I have said before, I watch from afar, but even from here things do not look good.

    Where are you??

Hi Chris, I live just outside Glasgow in Scotland and could not believe what I was watching last night, I am now at my work with only 2 hours sleep after watching us throw yet another game away, I don't know what is said to the players at half time but it needs to change.

I thought we were going to get the win when we scored the defensive touchdown early in the 3rd, but after that it was really really poor to watch.

I accept that I am no NFL master tactician, but playing against a QB with only one working leg I would have thought we could have applied a bit more pressure.

Anyway, I just hope to stay awake for the rest of the day and hope I remember last night the next time we are playing a game that is broadcast through the night in UK, (but I probably won't as hope springs eternal) even with this team.

Kids go back to school here in TigerTown(Princeton, Indiana) tomorrow

over here they have the week off for half term, so plenty of time to recover from his late night, that said he is lying on the sofa fast asleep just now, but I will wake him in time for the game. Not sure how much he will see but he does have his colts top on instead of pyjamas so he is all set.

I with you, brother, but don't be dragging Dennis Eckersley into it... He'd have closed this game out in regulation. :spit:

Hi Carlos, May be a transatlantic miscommunication, I have no idea of who Dennis Eckersley is and apologies if he is a Colts legend,,,, in Scotland "by eck" is a more polite way of saying for f*** sake, a phrase I would never use on a forum such as this.

    Apologies for any confusion.

    What happened to Scotland

Scotland were playing Slovenia tonight and had to win to progress into the play offs for the soccer world cup next year, the last time we were in World cup was in 1998 so the country was full of anticipation, it was in our hands and (as usual) we blew it, 1-0 up we went 2-1 down before finally drawing 2-2 thus being eliminated on goal difference.

Typical Scotland, we find new ways of being "glorious failures" each tournament.

At leasr the Colts won (eventually).

  9. After  Scotland bring put out of world cup earlier tonight, I thought I would cheer myself up by checking in with the colts.

    I should have known better.

As my wife has just said t me "Why cant we support good teams".

Still in there for the win however, but by eck we are making it difficult for oursrelves
