  1. Got bored in class and decided to start one of these. I'm not a cap guru and not really sure how salaries work against cap, etc. So for that sake I'm not going to be putting in contracts/salaries, but all the additions will be based on assuming we'll have to cap to sign them and still have room. My goal is obviously to get better in the offseason, but also younger as well.

    Releases:

    Andre Johnson

    Trent Cole

    D'Qwell Jackson

    Arthur Jones

    Bjoern Werner

    Resign:

    Adam Vinatieri

    Coby Fleener

    Jerrell Freeman

    Extensions:

    Andrew Luck

    Free Agents:

    Kelechi Osemele, OG:

One of the best interior lineman in the NFL. Excels in both pass and run protection and is in his prime at age 27.

    Stefen Wisniewski, C:

I would love Alex Mack, but hes older and probably out of our price range. Wisniewski is a cheaper option along with Osemele would solidify the interior of our o-line.

    Trumaine Johnson, CB:

While bigger names like Josh Norman, Sean Smith, and Janoris Jenkins light up the headlines I think Trumaine Johnson is going to be the best bang for your buck CB. He is great length and has #1 CB skills. Would greatly help our secondary.

    NFL Draft

Round 1: Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State

I honestly would love a pass rusher here, but I don't think any are going to be available worth taking here. Drafting Conklin will allow Jack Mewhort to start at OG and would basically round out our o-line for the next 5-7 years.

Round 2: Shilique Calhoun, 3-4 OLB, Michigan State/ Noah Spence 3-4 OLB, Eastern Kentucky

I put Noah Spence on here as he may be available on day 2 because of his off field issues. Previous prospects like Randy Gregory, Janoris Jenkins, and Tyrann Mathieu dropped to the middle of the 2nd round so if he is there he is a 1st round talent. If not Shilique Calhoun has great size and length and above average speed. He does need to add some strength, but has showed a lot of improvement in his pass rush over the years.

Round 3: Austin Johnson, NT, Penn State

Is a big body and rarely gets pushed around, but also shows the effort and energy to not just be sitting anchor. He showed a lot of athleticism with 78 tackles last year to go along with 6 sacks. Could be a great run stuffer that can rush the passer as well.

Round 4: Deiondre' Hall, CB, Northern Iowa

Long and lanky corner that doesn't shy away from contact and helps in run support had 84 tackles as a corner last year.

    Round 5:James Bradberry, CB/S, Samford

I don't know if you've figured it out yet, but I love tall lengthy DB's. Hes another one that is probably better suited to play safety. Mike Adams is getting older and we can groom him. Shows great athleticism and closing speed, needs to work a bit on his coverage skills and is solid in run support.

Round 7:Terrance Smith, ILB/OLB, Florida State

Raw prospect. Shows good athleticism and speed, his frame is a bit lacking. Needs to add some bulk and could be a solid ILB for us. Could immediately have impact on special teams.

That rounds it our for me fellas, I put this together pretty quickly, but go ahead and blast me with all the criticism! :]

  2. I like it. I for one really hope we go DB first in the draft. I don't think there's a safety I would pick in the first so I want Peters or Jones.

Yeah I don't like any of the safeties enough to draft them #1 either.  I prefer Jones over Peters because I find their ceilings to be about the same, but Jones has no character concerns nor coaching concerns.  Whereas Peters comes with both and I don't think he is as technically sound either.

Rather have Josh Robinson than Payne but good mock

I agree. Overall it looks good but I'd prefer another back as well. In the 5th other options could be Buck allen, Johnson, possibly Cobb, Langford, and of course Robinson.

I actually hadn't done TOO much scouting for RB's as I find it the least of our worries this past year, but this years draft class is pretty deep at RB so it wouldn't be bad to pick one up.  Of all the ones that might be available in the middle rounds Langford was my favorite, but he was mocked to be gone before out 4th round pick in every mock so I went with Payne.  I honestly haven't seen/watched much on Robinson.

Really nice mock. I am really liking the idea of CB in the 1st as well. I would really like Kevin Johnson in the 1st, but he is beginning to have his value shoot up so Byron Jones or Ronald Darby would be close 2nds. I really like the Tre' Jackson pick in the 3rd that would be awesome value at that pick. I think he has the potential to be a pro bowl G in the NFL.

I personally like Jones better then Johnson.  The thing about Johnson is he is very lanky and although length is good he is too small for my taste.  Jones is probably my favorite CB of the group honestly overall.  Tre' Jackson would be awesome IMO.  I see him as Pro Bowl potential as well... literally a Larry Warford in my eyes.  I hope we pick him up.

I like it. The fact that everyone and their dogs have Derrick Lott in their mocks tells me it is a near certainty he wont be a Colt. Shame.

haha, you never know! I would love to pick him up I think he would be great at DE for us and could be the Michael Bennett from Seattle of our defense with his versatility and technique.

leave. i'll join fire grigs if we take jones

Well at least you gave a solid reason as to why you don't like it. -claps-

    Good mock

However, I think your first round pick will be there in the late to mid 2nd round

I really think that we will need a DL with our first pick

I can almost guarantee you Jones won't be there for our 2nd round.  As to your concerns at DL, I completely understand, but there aren't many guys I REALLY like for DL at #29.  I find Armstead and Goldman to be a bit overrated.  Unless Danny Shelton falls to us, which I highly doubt he will, and Jones is available I rather grab him than Armstead or Goldman.

This is probably one of my favorite drafts.. I am not sure about Byron Jones (mostly because I have watched any tape) but his combine was amazing! I would really like it if we could grab Stephone Anthony could turn out to be the best all around Linebacker in this draft. We desperately need a 3 down linebacker. I also like the value of Derrick Lott in round 6.

I love the first four rounds.  I'm not a huge Byron Jones fan but I wouldn't complain.

I mean Byron Jones isn't a sure fire thing, but he has a lot of upside in my opinion, he has the work ethic and intelligence we would want, and has the athleticism and body type to play press for us. His tape is a bit inconsistent, but I think it is solid enough to warrant picking him up at #29

  3. Hey guys, just thought I would give a shot at a mock draft while I'm at work and bored.  I'm going to be taking a bit of a different approach in this draft.  I know a lot of you want us either upgrading our front 7 with our first pick or using it on O-Line.  I wouldn't disagree with doing this, but there are only a handful of players that I would want in the first round to fill those needs. As for player availability I took into account multiple other mock drafts to figure if they will be available or not (WalterFootball, Draftek, Nfl, ESPN, SI, etc)

    R1 #29 - Byron Jones CB Connecticut 6'1'' 200 lbs

I love this kid.  He doesn't fill a HUGE need on our team, but along side Vontae Davis gives us bookend corners for a long time.  He has great measurables for the position, smart with great instincts, high character kid, and reads routes/ball well. Has good tape to go along his combine performance, I think this would greatly improve our secondary. Unless Randy Gregory falls too us, or if Ereck Flowers from Florida is available I think this would be a great pick.  More of a fill and BA pickup(could also argue for Erik Kendricks).

    R2 #61 - Stephone Anthony ILB Clemson 6'3'' 243 lbs

This will be controversial for a lot of you, not because of the pick, but more so availability.  I actually wouldn't mind moving up in the 2nd to get this kid if we were to get Jones, Flowers, or an EDGE rusher in the 1st.  He has prototypical size for the position, has plus-speed, nose for the ball carrier, great in coverage, and moves well sideline to sideline.  He does everything you want your ILB to do.  Does struggle a bit disengaging from blocks and doesn't show much development blitzing.

    R3 #93 - Tre' Jackson OG Florida St. 6'5'' 335 lbs

This would be a great value pick.  Will shore up the interior of our offensive line and the run game.  He reminds me of Larry Warford they have a lot of the same traits.  As for someone his size he isn't that explosive out of his stance.  Struggles a bit sliding his feet and in pass protection, but could loss some weight without losing power to help with that and is coachable. Does a decent job at pulling as well.

    R4 #128 - Adrian Amos S Penn St. 6'0'' 218 lbs

This is another kid I really like that people aren't talking about as much, again he may not be available here, but I've seen him here this late in a couple mocks.  He is a great athlete at safety, shows great range and coverage skills.  Has fluid hips and dips well and shoes versatility in coverage.  In terms of run support, its not that he is unwilling more so that he doesn't engage himself.  He has the size and speed to be a thumper, but he tends to launch himself into the runner rather than wrapping up and bring the runner down.  I feel like this is something he can be taught though, as he is not unwilling to get to the runner.

    R5 #165 - Cameron Artis-Payne RB Auburn 5'10'' 212 lbs

Maybe not the running back of the future, but shows good patience and vision.  He doesn't hit the hole/seam with authority has shown that he can, but needs to more consistently. Good for depth/backup role.

    R6 #204 - Derrick Lott DT Tennessee-Chatt 6'4'' 314 lbs

Doesn't have the size for NT, but shows quickness to pass the rusher and had 30 bench reps so shows solid strength.  Shows good technique.  Could be a surprise DE that can replace Redding.

    R6 #206 - Deiondez Mount OLB Louisville 6'5'' 243 lbs

Has good size and arm length for the position.  Had a solid pro-day 4.62 40 and 28 bench reps. Doesn't display a lot of pass-rushing ability, but can learn under Mathis and Cole.  Shows effort and could be Jonathan Newsome 2.0

    R7 #244 - Austin Shepherd OT Alabama  6'4'' 315 lbs

Tough smart kid. Shows solid abilities in pass protection.  A bit weak at the point of attack in the run game and doesn't show great strength.  Could add more strength and 10 lbs to frame without losing lateral speed. Best part is he is intelligent and very coachable.  Could be a great depth pick and has starting potential.

    R7 #255 - Zach Hodges OLB Harvard 6'2'' 250 lbs

He was a bit of a feel good story coming into the draft.  I think he plays with a lot of energy and a controlled wreckless.  A bit raw in pass rushing skills and has good instincts but doesn't always trust them.  A bit small and could add some strength and bulk.  Rotational player and could blossom into a starter.

  4. I know he has huge red flags, but why not take a chance on him?  He is going to come cheap and if he continues to be terrible off the field just cut him.

I know we just signed Swoope and have Coby Fleener, but Swoope still has to gain a lot of mass/weight to play TE and Fleener has shown to be somewhat inconsistent and having Lyerla on the team can push him.

It also gives us the option of not resigning Fleener and keeping Lyerla as our pass catching TE, assuming that he keeps himself clean.

    Thoughts?

  5. I know everyone -- myself included -- wants us to get Alex Mack, but it seems more and more likely that we're not going to get him and if we do its going to cost us way to much money.  So I was think what else can we do to shore up the interior on our offensive line?

Insert Davin Joseph, yes he plays guard not center and everyone wants us to get a center.  He was a top 5 guard before injuries and then he got released.  I think at the right price we can bring him in for like 4 million a year he would be our starting left guard and we can find a center in the draft or just roll with Costa for the time being until we find a replacement center.  Thoughts? Maybe?

  6. I know that free agency isn't over and we could be signing more people, but I think other than Alex Mack we're not going to be signing anyone else.  So this is what my mock draft looks like after all our signings.

    Round 2 Pick 27 (59) - Marcus Martin C/G USC 6'3'' 320 lbs

Since we haven't signed Alex Mack yet and the signing of Phil Costa looks more of a depth pick up so o-line is still a big need.  Marcus Martin has great size and power and can play both center and guard.  He does seem to get a bit disengaged and doesn't utilize his full power, but has starting caliber potential and can open up running lanes for Trent Richardson.

    Round 3 Pick 26 (90) - Terrence Brooks FS Florida St. 5'11'' 200 lbs

We didn't resign Antoine Bethea so we're in need of another safety to help round out our secondary.  Brooks has decent size could add more bulk.  Has good coverage awareness and has fluid hips.  Has good speed (4.42 40) and range.  Aggressive in run support, but needs to keep eyes up and maintain tackles does tend to be overaggressive and miss tackles.

    Round 5 Pick 26 (154) - Deandre Coleman DT California 6'5'' 314 lbs

Great size and strength.  Doesn't get moved off spot easily and can clog lanes.  Good run support and anchors vs the double team.  Not an established pass rusher, but could be the NT we've been looking for.

    Round 6 Pick 27 (187) - Bennett Jackson CB Notre Dame 6'0'' 195 lbs

Decent size and hands, was a former WR.  Could add more bulk to frame.  Has decent speed, inconsistent tackler, and relies on instincts, stiff hips.  Could play nickel corner or depth for dime packages.  Needs more playing time to develop better reactionary skills.

    Round 7 Pick 17 (209) - Kevin Pierre-Louis OLB Boston College 6'0'' 232 lbs

Very raw prospect.  Doesn't have great instincts and has his limitations in coverage, but showed great athleticism at the combine.  4.51 40 yard dash, 28 bench reps, 29 inch vert, and 128 inch broad jump.  Could be someone we develop and could learn from Robert Mathis.

I think this would help us at positions of need and then add some depth where we need it.

  7. Its basically the old Colts formula with better run support and press coverage.  You have Talib and Harris Jr.  on the outsides man to man, then they get ahead with Peyton + Welker/Thomas/Thomas, and then they just let D-Ware and V. Miller rack up sacks.  Pretty scary team now.  And their run defense is like 10x better than what we've ever had lol.

  8. Jordan Matthews from Vanderbilt in the 2nd round this year.  I know we obviously have many more needs than WR, but I'm still not sold that Darick Rogers, Brazil, or Whalen are going to be our answers for the future.  After Reggie retires we're very thin at WR.

He has great size, solid speed, probably the most polished route runner in the draft, fluid body control, and has great hands.  A big red zone target that can win jump balls and is good after the catch which is perfect for the type of offense we're running.

I can see him falling to us like Keenan Allen fell to the 3rd round last year.  They're pretty similar, Matthews is obviously bigger.  All in all if we did end up drafting him I would be pretty happy he seems like he has everything he needs to become a #1 WR for us.

  9. I would not re-sign Vontae Davis if it costs $9 million per season to do it. He showed flashes of greatness, but was maddeningly inconsistent. Grigson even alluded to it at the end of the season. I would not pay him more than $7 million per.

Everything I have seen about Alex Mack is that he will get an insane deal similar to Ryan Kalil of the Panthers. $8 or $9 million per season. As great as he would be, that is too much money. The defense is screaming for help. If we could get him for $5 million per, I would sign him in a heartbeat.

Also, I would pass on Byrd and Beason. I would pass on Byrd because I don't feel he is worth the big money he is asking. I really feel you can get good free safety play more easily than good corner play. I think you can look at some of teams (Patriots, Packers) who put a former corner at free safety and thrived. The thing about paying a linebacker is that Freeman's contract will be up next season, and I would pay him. I wouldn't pay 2 inside linebackers big money. I would consider bringing a guy in on a one year deal.

I doubt they waive Toler although they should consider it. Players that have an injury history continue to have an injury history. He was great at times when he played, but that was only half the season. He only signed a 3 year deal though. I am not sure we could get Sam Shields or Alterraun Verner. The thing about Grimes is that he also has an injury history and is on the wrong side of 30.

I would be fine if we let McAfee walk. I just don't see the value in paying a punter $3 million+ per season. He was not in the top 10 in touchbacks, which I think would be worth paying a punter for. I think we can get a comparable talent for less money. I also agree with you on Bethea.

I like your draft. Attaochu seems to be rising up draft boards and inside linebacker will be a big need. Jones in the 3rd would be great. I think we can get a good safety in the 5th round as well. There should be a number of guys to choose from.

For me, I wouldn't mind passing on Beason a lot of people are giving him flack for only having a decent season last season, but he was coming off injury and was still solid in run support and he should be regaining some of that former speed, maybe not to how quick he used to be, but getting some of it back.

Bird I think would be the answer for safety for us, he is great in coverage and is somewhat competent in run support he would open up a lot of things for our defense he is also a ballhawk.  Unless you think the Seahawks won't have the money to sign Sherman + Earl Thomas and lets one of the go and we go for one of them I would sign Byrd.  While Grimes has had a bit of an injury prone season when he is healthy hes one of the best of the best he also hadn't really started getting rolling with the Falcons until a bit later in his career so I think his legs are a bit fresher for a 30 year old, I dunno if paying him that much would be worth it, but I think he could be a better midtermish option for us at corner.

Yeah, Alex Mack at half price, Jairus Byrd at about 25% off, etc. And Erik Walden is evidently guaranteed for 2014, so cutting him saves nothing.

Like I said, the highest paid Center right now is getting 5.5 million a year.  Alex Mack has been known to be a good quality Center, but is he known to be the best?  Who knows I was just basing contracts off that number, along with Jairus Byrd, highest paid I believe is 13 million.

I just really did the contracts/number stuff based off of that I don't actually know full swing how contracts+bonuses hit the cap, etc.

  10. Honestly, more than if the numbers work or not these are some of the people that I hope the Colts would go for/target.

    Cuts

Samson Satele - Save 4 Million

Greg Toler - save 4.8 Million

Matt Hasselbeck - Save 4 Million

Erik Walden - Save 4 Million

Leaves about 54 Million in Cap

(I know there are going to be dead money stuff, but just for the sake of keeping myself sane I just went with whatever their cap his was as our savings)

    Resignings

    Pat McAfee - 4 yrs/14 million

    Adam Vinatieri - 1 yr/3 million

    Vontae Davis - 4 yrs/36 million

    Joe Reitz - 2yrs/1.2 million

    Fili Moala - 2 yrs/1.6 million

    Josh Gordy - 1 year/800k

About 30 million remaining for free agents

    Free Agents

    Alex Mack - 4 yrs/22 million

    Brent Grimes - 3 yrs/27 million

    Jon Beason - 2 yrs/7.5 million

    Chad Rinehart - 2 yrs/2.5 million

    Jairus Bird - 5yrs/35 million

Alex Mack would fill a huge need at Center.  Brent Grimes coming of knee surgery got a 1 year contract and played very well, was graded as the 2nd best cover corner behind Revis.  Him along with Vontae would give us great man to man coverage.  Jon Beason due to injury kind of fell off the map, but he was an all-pro ILB and has good speed and played decently well last season for the Giants, would be a good fit next to Freeman.  Chad Rinehart plays all the interior positions and is probably better than Thornton, could be a starter or give us really good depth, had his first good season this year so he'll come pretty cheap and worth the investment imo.  I opted to not resign Antoine Bethea because I just think hes too much of a liability in coverage now, and if Landry can stay healthy hes better as run support/in the box, so we need a great cover safety.  Bird would fill that need and help control that second level in our defense.

This would leave the Colts with about 5 million leftover.

    Draft

Round 2 - Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB/DE, Georgia Tech

Round 3 - DaQuan Jones, DT, Penn State

Round 5 - Tre Boston, S, North Carolina

Round 7 - Shaq Evans, WR, UCLA

Again I'm not sure if we can even afford all of this and make it all work out, but most of the contract numbers I just did based on what I thought they were worth compared to the highest paid player in 2013 via position.

    Starting Lineup

    QB - Andrew Luck

RB - Trent Richardson, Vick Ballard

WR - Reggie Wayne, TY Hilton

TE - Dwyane Allen, Coby Fleener

    LT - Anthony Castonzo

    LG - Chad Rineheart/Hugh Thornton

    C - Alex Mack

    RG - Donald Thomas

    RT - Gosdier Cherilus

DE - Ricky Jean Francois, Cory Redding

    DT - Josh Chapman

OLB - Robert Mathis, Bjoern Werner

ILB - Jerrell Freeman, Jon Beason

CB - Vontae Davis, Brent Grimes

S - LaRon Landry, Jarius Bird

  11. Sarcasm I understand, idiocy I don't

Nor is it as bleak as everyone thinks.

I'm guessing you received a fine public education with insight like that. :FBsmiley:

What happens when it does? There

I've typed at length on what I think are the Colts weak areas and what I think are their strong areas in various threads. But I will give you a quick run down

    Manning - Best ever

Painter - I'm not a fan but I think he's more capable than most people think

    The rest - CAmp/Preseason arms.

Addai - Excellent back for the Colts

Brown - Don't know why he was drafted

Carter - Seems like a good draft pick

James - Does not belong in the NFL

Rhodes - will not make it out of camp

Rest - May make the team with special team duties.

    Wayne - Still a 100 catch 1300 yard 10 TD WR

Collie - One of the best WRs in the NFL

Garcon - Good for 45-65 catches a year and a half dozen TDs

Gonzo - excellent WR needs to stay healthy.

White - Will stick because he has good hands but Manning sure yelled at him a lot last year.

Clark - Top 5 TE and integral part of the Colts

    Tamme - proven, capable back-up

    Eldridge - Who knows

Diem - better than many give credit

Pollack - probably be the starting guard on opening day. Really improved last year

Saturday - smartest, best technical center in the league

DeVan - will probably not be a starter but a good back-up to have on the team

AC - Will start at LT by default.

    Back-ups - Solid corps of back-up onlineman

Freeney - Still strikes fear in OC

Mathis - Still strikes fear in OC

Moala - Showed last year why the Colts drafted him. Will emerge as a real playmaker

Mookie - Good for 4 or 5 plays then needs 2 or 3 series off.

Nevis - Appears to be a good draft pick and will probably get 15-18 snaps a game.

Rest - good rotational players will be interesting to see Anderson in the mix.

Brackett - under-rated MLB, played injured a lot last year.

Angerer - Future probowler at LB. Hs excellent tools will read and react skills did improve and will improve with playing time.

Conner - Good against the run, struggles against the pass.

The rest - With Wheeler and the addition of Sims this is a solid but unspectacular group

Powers - Has all the tools to be up there with the top CBs, needs to stay healthy

Tryon - Very good starting quality CB who will benefit from a full training camp with the Colts

Lacey - Solid nickle back should not play on the outside

Thomas - Should be the starting nickle back this year if he can stay healthy.

The rest, really don't know enough about.

Bethea - Excellent safety cornerstone of the DBs

Bullitt - Not great but makes very few mistakes

Silva - Not a fan but solid ST.

Alfava - Seems like he could unseat Bullitt.

The rest - Don't know much about. Personally I would like to see the Colts sign Whitner but if they don't I won't cry about how the team doesn't sign free agents or think they can't go to the SB because they didn't make the moves I wanted them to make.

    AV - clutch

MacAfee - excellent punter and kick off specialist. 35 yard rule will help the Colts a lot.

Funny how many people call me that, yet I've never said I'm a genius... I guess I don't have to.

Because the line is not just as solid as the Colts. They are not much better at run blocking (they use a FB) and the pass blocking is not nearly as good as the Colts. Aj is a top receiver, none of the rest would be above 5th on the Colts depth chart. Daniels is a very good TE, about on par with Tamme. Their dline is a mess, Cushing post steriods is an average LB. Ryans is the real deal who is coming back from injury and the comment about their backers is hilarious and shows, even more so, why the comment was naive. Their secondary is very pourous (they ranked 32 in the NFL in pass yards given up). Daniel Manning should help but they still need a lot of work in the secondary. Foster had an excellent year last year. He needs to follow it up with another good year to be considered a top 5 back.

And you can sit there and call me an *. Angerer a future pro bowler? He hasn't proven anything to be even close. Diem is not better than given credit, he was getting beat all year. Tryon is an okay starting corner with potential, but near the bottom tier of starting CB's. Moala showed some flashes of being an okay DT, but nothing special. Brackett is underrated but not a top tier back. You're giving way to much credit to some of these players. Daniels, before his injury a couple years ago was going to have a phenomenal year. So on par with Tamme? Tamme was a beneficiary of Peyton Manning and nothing more cause he hasn't really proven himself. He shows some potential. And my secondary comment naive? Johnathan Joseph is better than Powers. Bethea is better than who ever plays FS for them. SS is about even and Brandon Harris will probably end up being a pro bowler you know because his instincts are so good and all. And so then the Colts start using a full back and then Addai has a year as the rushing leader too right?

Brian Cushing and Ryan better than backs on the Colts. If we're looking at a 4-3 format, Mario Williams is just a good a DE as Freney or Mathis and is better in run support. JJ Watt would be a DT and I'd take him over Johnson or Moala. You give way to much credit to some of the players on the Colts. In argument you need to stop the homerism and stop being blinded by it.

  12. Umm this is incorrect. Two LBers that played well as rookies improving in their 2nd year is pretty common in the NFL. But even if they play exactly the same as last year the defense can be improved.

Obviously you are not a Colts fan, if you think it's fun to watch the Colts get ran over.

    It is an overstatement.

Please name one player in the NFL who is not getting older.

You call other naive and then you type a sentence that is the definition of being naive. Now that is funny.

lol, trust me I am a Colts fan and you obviously don't understand sarcasm. Of course I don't think it'll be fun watching them get ran over, but with how the Colts look as a team right now its not as pretty as everyone thinks. And yeah everyone does get older, but some are older than others smartbutt. And I know its common for players to make make major strides in their 2nd year, but everyone here is thinking its absolutely going to happen, what happens when it doesn't? And quite frankly you haven't made any comments about how we don't have any problems other than saying that we don't have major problems so why don't you enlighten me since you're the genius.

And why am I so naive about the Texans being a better quality team than us right now. O-Line is just as solid as ours, Schaub isn't a Peyton Manning but arguably a top 10 QB, they have what seems to be a top 5 runningback, if that isn't the case its better than any back we have right now. WR depth is solid along with Andre Johnson who I would say is now better than Reggie. And Owen Daniels who wasn't the same this past year but still a quality pass catching TE.

Defensively, their backers are far better than ours with Mario Williams and Brain Cushing rushing the passers. Ryan in the middle is better than Brackett. So overall their front seven is better and their secondary is almost as good after we lost Hayden. On paper they're a better team overall, I may be going out on a limn here, but its an opinion that may be true if we don't fix some of our problems.

  13. This is a great pick up, I was worried the Colts wouldn't do anything to our linebacking corp after losing Clint Session, but I think hes a better LB than Session. I think a good pickup now would be Kirk Morrison and maybe move him to the outside.

  14. I think he'd be better suited playing DT and adding some bulk this offseason and he'd be a great DT. If he moved him he'd have good speed at the position since he was playing DE as a pass rusher, and adding a bit more bulk would help plug up the middle. I think its a good pick up and hopefully he can help out in the middle. Now if only we could get some linebackers.

  15. lol, seriously? You guys are banking on two 2nd year players to hopefully make the "2nd year leap"? It'll be so much fun watching the Colts get ran over like every other year, while we'll taste a bit of our own medicine with PA cause we don't have the DB's to cover. Huge problems isn't an overstatement, and if you're think that way you're naive. How long are you guys going to homers and ride Manning? He is getting older, Reggie is older, even the defensive players we ride are getting old. Mathis and Freeney are getting up there, and since the Colts management obviously have no intention of filling in voids and just making more.

Everyone in our division minus maybe the Titans have a better front 7 than us. And honestly, the Texans have a better quality team than we do now, its kind of sad really.

  16. In my honest opinion, I think we've gotten worse. Rookies are well rookies, we don't know what they're going to do and how well they're going to perform. So, you can't assume that Castonzo is out next Tarik Glenn, thats just foolish. But other that "maybe" fixing part of our offensive line, we haven't done anything to help. We released Kelvin Hayden and didn't resign Clint Session. Now we have a glaring hole at CB and OLB. And no, Angerer isn't the answer. SS is still iffy, Bullitt is solid, but not great. And we still have a weakness at DT. Our current team is no better than last years and honestly I think its worse.

Management really sucked it up this year and didn't do jack. Awesome.

  17. I don't understand how you guys can say we're okay at linebacker. Sure DT's help with run defense, but normally the DTs set it up for the linebackers. If our linebackers were really that "okay" with their speed we should be able to stop the run. Whether the run through the middle or to the outside, but that obviously hasn't been the case for the last couple years. Everyone is talking about this is the year for the Colts, how are we going to do it with a rookie DT, and two OLB in their second year, while Connor didn't even play all that much until the end of the year. Angerer has been pretty solid, but suspect in coverage and really doesn't have the athleticism to get much better. Sure he will instinctively but the lack of speed and athleticism won't make him great.

Bullitt is a quality starter when healthy, but coming off a major shoulder surgery I would rather have someone else. We released Bob why not use 5/6 mill of that 7/8 he was making sitting on the bench on another star SS and have it set for the next couple years. This Colts have been lucky with the way rookies have stepped up, but what happens when all these "they're bound to have a great year cause they did pretty good last year" all suck it up? Theres no for sure starters on defense minus Brackett, Freeney, Mathis, Bethea, and Powers. Everyone else is "okay" at best, but we don't need okay... especially with Peyton getting older. Hes going to need a better defense later in the future and the way the Colts are handing it now isn't going to help.
