Billings fine with me , just not in the 1st round.

Kelly would be a fine pick at 18. The D can wait till later.

Not sure what you are missing but it's well over 90% on this site for taking care of the OL. In order to fix it we need a C and a RG.
I can't speak for everyone but Castonzo, Mewhort are pretty solid on the left side. Irsay and Grig's seem to think Good has a future at RT. I am not as sure but my vote doesn't count. That leaves RG and C.
What RG are you drafting that's going to win that job in camp over Thorton? I think you will be hard pressed to find anyone. Thorton has all the tools to be a solid RG. He hadn't put it together and hasn't stayed healthy time to move on most agree with that.
C as soft and pathetic as Holmes is I think it's difficult for a rookie to come in and take that job. Holmes is only made it to week' 1 once in his career. I'd sign an experienced vet to play until the rookie is ready.
Immediate up grade at RG has to be a FA. There isn't a rookie taking Thorton's job week 1. It will happen when he's injured again. I like most hope we sign a FA OG.
Do you want a rookie at C? Free runs in Luck's face? There will be growing pains. If we draft on we either watch Holmes struggle at least 1/4 of the season or bring in a vet to bridge the gap until the rookie is ready.
I want C fixed now I think the only way to immediatley upgrade C is sign Wiz/Jones. Both are about 26. If we get one of those guys C is done.
I think most hope we get one of the OL spots fixed in FA I am hoping both. If only 1 I think it has to be RG.
You see a lot of talk about D because the draft is full of DL and CB. We really need. an edge rusher too. This draft could solidify our DL for years. We could come away with potentially a 1a.CB to pair with Davis and have Smith in the slot, a deep nasty DL, and an edge rusher all while fixing the OL. Talk to more people you need offense and D and special teams to win
maybe i'm online at bad timing to see 90% liking o-line fix. I think if you get a solid pick in the draft, (hopefully) he'll come around pretty quickly. Looks like not much money for the draft this year, if we go FA, I'd like to spend some $ on the o-line. I probably sound like a broken record, but Luck needs more protection than he has had. I agree we need balance, but I think the defense played pretty well last year for the cards they were dealt.
-
I'm just glad they are looking at an o-line that needs improved urgently. Looks like they got the coaching side covered, now all they need is some new personnel.
-
I hope he gets something out of it. he basically admitted to liking a certain "feel" of football. Plus the phone tampering, possible evidence tampering. Needs to face the music.

Seems like a lot of people on this site want to draft defense, I've said it before, better go o-line. Not much cash for free agency. lots of people I talk to agree.

I'd rather bet on the more talented player than a less talented player at a position of perceived need.
sorry late on reply, I understand your points, I'm just of the opinion that if you need help, get it. At least the first 3-4 picks of the draft should be playing a lot of ball. I'm sure you know its going to cost at least twice as much (ballpark) to get a good vet. player. Why draft for the bench?
-
If you can find talent in draft it doesn't cost you a fortune like agency does. All a gamble, you don't know if college playmakers will adapt to the NFL, or if the free agents are passed their prime, usually that's the case.

Because the draft is not for filling needs.
That said, RBs aren't worthy of first round picks, IMO. Elliott is gonna be good, though.
let me try this again. I believe draft is definitely for filling needs. WE have way more needs than RB. Somebodys gonna have a good back though.

Drafts not for filling needs? I think so.
Here are some 1st round running backs who have Super Bowl rings:
Franco Harris, Marcus Allen, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk, Jamal Lewis, Jerome Bettis, Joe Addai, Reggie Bush, Marshawn Lynch
I'm sure there are more.
I wouldn't flip out like I did last year when they announced Dorsett as our pick. My biggest problem with drafting Elliot is the fact that it would almost certainly make this an offensive based draft. We need to draft a C, and also need a G so I feel that would take 3 of our first 5 picks. With all the defensive talent in this draft, I'd like to get an upgrade either at NT in Billings if he's there, LB if Lawson, Spence, or someone else deemed worthy by the team is there, or CB if Hargreaves somehow falls, or even Fuller or maybe Apple. If there's no one at those positions you're comfortable taking, then go ahead and take Zeke. Grigs and Pagano love a good blocking back, and with the OLine and RB addressed, the offense would theoretically be completed.

I would have gave him a offer, played better than luck did last year. (ouch!)

I agree whole heartedly that the line needs help, but Mack is going to be overpriced.
-
I think he did a damn good job coming in for luck. We'd better make sure we have a good back up incase o-line isn't improved.

While a would loathe the pick, the Colts would not miss the playoffs. With Chud at the helm the Colts offense is going to be potent.....Elliot or no Elliot. Now, would they be a serious SB contender with the current defense? No.
Why would u draft a rb? O-line is a major problem. If the offense could stay on the field a little longer, the defense wouldn't be gassed all the time.

I like sprigs or Conklin, I'm prejudiced, haven't looked at D.

who gives a % about that?

Well then ..... I'm glad you aren't making the decision
I agree theres no way I'm paying that kind of money for a center.

He will be a good back for someone, just not the colts.
-
Any rumors as to who colts might be looking at in FA?

But by your same point, there is a very deep class of OL, We could go OLB, ILB, DL, or DB in the first and still have plenty of rounds to pick up more than one quality OL. We could go center in the 2ND and get a G in the 3RD.
true point

The dude is chiseled. But only 301.
Great footwork at the combine. If Good is working hard this off season and healthy, i would expect Zero chance Spriggs is a Colt
Chazz is gonna get him some D.I really hope we shore up the o-line, injury bug is major problem almost every year. Would be nice to have some talent in the bank. Sounds like the quality of the defense is pretty high this year(draft). Can probably get some good, athletic talent in the later rounds.

I haven't seen anything about potentially drafting spriggs from IU. Looks like he had an outstanding combine. I see hes left tackle. What about moving him to the right side?
Starting Rookies
in NFL Draft, Scouting, and Free Agent Talk

Some people think its unheard of for a rookie to come in from college and be an effective nfl player. It happens each and every year. I think I recall we had 2 rookie lineman come to the call of duty last year and played pretty damn well. Young players are going to make mistakes, but the key is to learn for them. Get some help for Andrew and which-ever RB we have. DONT BE SCARED TO DRAFT O-LINE IN THE 1ST.
