  1. I dont think you want the team to win. You keep arguing that we should lose. Your whole idea is based on flawed logic in which the teams who draft in the top ten have an advantage over the teams who dont. Its simply not true, its actually the opposite. Those picks bust just as often. There is a reason the same teams are always drafting there.

The only time that isnt the case is when a team needs a franchise QB. In that case, I agree. But that is not our situation. And even then, great QB's are found in every round of the draft.

We need pass rushers and olineman. You can get those pretty regularly from picks 20-the 3rd round. Our best pick last year was our 3rd rounder.

Not only that, but if there is a guy you like that much and he will make an impact like you suggest, you can trade up a few spots. Its not like you totally miss out just because you dont tank. At the end of the day its about making good decisions, not wherr you draft.

  2. There were plenty of people who thought Manning and Dungy were too soft to win a title and they constantly said that right up until we won the SB.

They were saying it the year we won it too. We gave up over 300 yds rushing to Jax that season and nobody thought we were gonna go all the way.

That is why you always take your shot.

  3. Because believe it or not the players on the team didn't make it to where they are by not believing in themselves. And you will never get anywhere if you expect to fail. If they get in the playoffs I hope they believe they can win it all, whether they are a long shot or a favorite.

    Let me ask you this....

How many draft picks come in and turn a non playoff team into a SB contender?

So why put your focus on that? It just doesn't happen very often.

You have to try and do as well as you can in everything, whether its in the preseason or postseason, during practice or walkthrough, as well as in free agency & the draft. It doesn't really matter whether you pick #1 or #32, if you don't always give 100%, you will not succeed at any of it. And you never plan on losing, just like you never plan on busting in the first round. Its a culture.

  4. I find it disgusting personally.

We have a very solid organization with a great group of guys and I am of the opinion that you need to appreciate what you have, so when its good you actually enjoy it, and when its bad you don't annoy everyone with your negativity.

The way people are treating Chuck right now goes to show you that all the ChuckStrong stuff was just nonsense. You can be unhappy and want a change without being a classless *about it. Have respect. That goes for you as well Greg Doyle. As far as I am concerned, not many people have done the things chuck has done for Indy so if you are one of them you better treat that man with the upmost respect. If you wont then go f yourself. These guys are in a pretty tough business. Its a lot harder than my job I know that.

And before somebody comes in and says "if this were NY"......I don't want us to be like NY because we aren't NY and never will be NY. I want us to be reasonable educated fans who enjoy the sport for the right reasons and respect the guys who play and coach here. And I would especially like our fans to treat class acts like Chuck Pagano well, even if we have to let him go to get where we want to go. Because that is how it should be. He has done a lot of charity in this city.....how much have you done? None? Then STHU and go find something productive to do.

We've missed the playoffs 4 times in 20 years and people talk about that like its a failure? Go ask Texans fans if they think the Colts are a failure. I bet they dream of the Texans having that kind of success.

I think it mostly comes down to jealousy of the Patriots and what they've accomplished. Since they have won more than us all the sudden our accomplishments don't count. Since they have beaten us, we suck and they are great. I say we've beaten them more than most other teams and we will beat them again real soon.

If you don't like the Colts you could always root for the Bears, Lions, Browns or Bengals.  Please go annoy their die hard fans instead of us. Thank you.

  5. Sucking for Luck is one thing. I can understand that only because it sets your franchise up for an entire decade or more.

But what kind of loser wants to suck for the 10th pick? Cmon have some pride! The difference between picking 10-15 is literally no distinguishable difference. This isn't basketball where there are only 5 good players in the entire draft.

I would much rather finish 8-8 and still miss the playoffs than be 6-10. Its still a dissapointing season but at least we wouldn't have a losing record.

  6. Last year Werner had 50 tackles and 4 sacks in 15 games. This was in his first full season after an injury his rookie season. The acquisition of Trent Cole and his bloated salary took any opportunity for Werner, and that is a tragedy.

Cole has  only 30 tackles and 2 sacks right now and he has played a ton of snaps. If Werner had received those same snaps he would have been much more productive.

This year Erik Walden has 35 tackles and 3 sacks in 13 games. His best season ever was 60 tackles in 16 games, but it was way back in 2011 in Green Bay. He hasnt posted over 50 tackles any other season for either team. His only season over 3 sacks was last year, and he only had 6.

Don't act like Werner can't play better than the guys who are out there because he can and has.

Neither Cole or Walden are very good and both have reached the ceiling already. Werner hasnt, he is only 25. Why aren't we trying to develop and coach him up and are settling for mediocre play from high priced veterans?

Stop trying to write off every player for silly reasons like "he got trucked" and learn to appreciate what they can do.

  7. Yeah he is a lot like Walden, who I like alot as a player, but just not as seasoned yet.

I would like to see Bjoern start on the strong side and allow Mathis to spell him on passing downs. This keeps Robert fresh and makes the best use of Werners ability. Then draft or sign a stud to start on the opposite side. But that guy has got to be a bonafide 12-15 sack type of cornerstone player who we can build around and rely on for consistent pressure. He can't be another Trent Cole or Erik Walden. Then use Newsome as a sub on that side.

We need more pressure from the d line. We were getting it when Henry was healthy, and Langford has been very good, IMO. Since losing Henry this defense has been pretty up and down. We still need some depth there, but I like our d line a lot with a healthy Anderson and Langford. You add a top notch outside rusher to this team and move Mathis to a specialist role and I think this defense gets a whole lot better real quick, even with Werner starting.

  8. I get tired of the Werner bashing.

First off, our pass rush sucks with or without him. And I think given his draft position, when he gets a chance to play, which has been rare this season, people lose sight of how many things he does well because he isn't a big sack guy, which is what we need and what was expected. I think the coaching staff benches him because we lack athleticism up front and he is redundant, and basically it comes down to choosing between him and Jonathan Newsome, who is more what we need. But its not Bjoerns fault that the rest of our front seven is slow as molasses and Newsome is much quicker and provides a different element we desperately need. Newsome is not a better player than Bjoern, and he isn't really a better pass rusher either. He is just quicker and more athletic.

The reasons for things don't always come down to "He sucks".

When I watch Werner, and I've said this before on here, he reminds me of a guy like Mike Vrabel. Vrabel only had two big sack years in his career if I remember, and they were late in his career, most years he was a 4-5 sack guy, which is comparable to Werner. But hr was rock solid at everything and very smart. Bjoern is very similar, he has good instincts and is very good at blowing up plays directly at him or in the flat to his side. He is not the best pass rusher and if you judge him solely based on that you are gonna come away unimpressed. But that doesn't mean he can't be a part of a great defense.

I would like to see us rebuild the LB corps this off season and get more athletic, but I would like to keep him because I think he could be very good in the right role. Ditch Walden and Cole. That would save us about 10 million and we wouldn't lose much IMO.

  9. Luck has had the greatest start to a NFL career as a starting QB, EVER. And he has given us 3 great seasons, better than we expected each year. He has had 6 tough games, while playing hurt, with a football team that has just not played well. We have the last ranked defense, and yes the offense has made it tough on them, but they aren't very good and have been exposed both on the ground and through the air, yet again. The offensive line isn't very good. His coaching staff is on the verge of being fired.

I understand being dissapointed and upset. I am also upset, and I bet Andrew is too, its obvious he is struggling and his confidence is rattled. But don't be an *. When you say ignorant things it only makes you look bad. Resist the urge to speak while upset, because it's not a good look. And grow up. Show some appreciation for our quarterback and simply demand better FOR HIM. Better coaching, better scouting, better roster, better execution, better results.

If you think we could possibly do better at that position you must be thinking this is fantasy football. We were so lucky that our rebuild started with a player of that caliber. And every team in the league is jelous of our fortune. You could not be more wrong.

  10. This fanbase is so spoiled. Luck is fine and looking back on Manning's career just proves that. Its not always peaches and cream. We will be very lucky if Luck is as successful as Manning, even though we hope we can win multiple SB's with him, it is very hard to do and not been done too often historically, and he is still ahead of Manning's pace and been more successful early in his career. Regardless, he is just now entering his prime and has plenty of time to accomplish those things. This season isn't lost at all there are still 9 games left.

I have never seen a fan base try to taint their own teams accomplishments as much as the people on here. Its really disturbing. That's what I like about Patriots fans, at least they stand by their team, even when they look foolish for doing so. And that is hard for me to say.

Regardless of our divisions strength, we have been the class of the division since its birth and we have dominated sub par competition just as a great team should. It is not an advantage to play in a weak division. It might be an easy path to the playoffs, however the divisional road games prepare you for the playoffs more than any other, playing in hostile environments, in meaningful games, against teams that know you very well, are very hard to win. And we haven't had a rival in this division yet, except for Tennessee early in Manning's career.

The Colts have been one of the best organizations the league has had to offer over the last 20 years and we should appreciate that, not try and tear it down. Sure, there have been a few teams who have been more successful. Not many. That's pretty good.

Give the kid some time to work through this before you start acting like he's a detriment to the team. We know what he can do and we should keep our focus on protecting him and giving him a plan for success that involves running the football more and developing a short passing game.

  11. Who cares what he says? I do however take solace in the fact that even with all the success they've enjoyed, and recent dominance over us, we are still on their minds.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for BB and everything they've accomplished. And I'm proud to be one of the few teams who have been able to truly compete with them over the years and even have their number for awhile. And we will have their number again at some point. And I hope we all make sure and rub it in their faces just as much as they have ours. I also hope our owner gloats just as much as Kraft does.

  12. I certainly would not completely panic, and lose my %, as most fans seem to be doing.

I would simply run the ball more. I think we are trying to pass way too much. Anytime we get in trouble in a game we turn to Luck and force him to bail us out every single time. And then we have fans who have the nerve to criticize him for not being a football cyborg. Playing QB is hard and virtually impossible with constant pressure. Forget about the imbalance in play calling, penalties and fumbles in the redzone

There are not enough screens being ran either. And I know we suck at it. However, I also think Gore, Johnson, Dorsett, Moncrief and Hilton should all see at least one screen, each game. We have a lot of dangerous guys after the catch and we don't give them enough opportunities to run with the ball. The more we execute them the better we will be. This could go a long way to slow down the blitzing and pressure on Luck. And if it doesn't, it should give us an opportunity at some big plays.

Defensively, I would play more man coverage. I would also like to see Clayton Geathers get more of an opportunity. Lowery has been solid but I really like Geathers, and I think he's done pretty well no matter what we've asked him to do. I think we need someone to make opposing receivers take notice going over the middle, and Geathers is a BIG safety and can tackle. I would also like to see a new package or two on defense that we can use on 3rd down to generate some pressure. I would also like to see Sio Moore get some chances to rush off the edge on third down. Another thing I would like to see is Bjoern Werner get more time, believe it or not. I don't really agree with the haters, I think Bjoern is a good football player and could be similar to a guy like Mike Vrabel. Vrabel didn't get big sack numbers until late in his career and was a 4-6 sack a year guy the majority of the time. But he was very good in run defense and was a smart player with a good feel for the game and just making plays. Just because a guy doesnt get 10 plus sacks doesnt mean he cant play. Forcing third and longs is way more important than just sack numbers and I think Bjoern can be a guy to help us force more third and longs. Less Trent Cole, save him for situational rushing.

I am not for firing anyone, benching Andrew Luck, or hiring Josh McDaniels. I think we can turn it around and benefit from this. Without struggle, you won't make any progress and I hope the team takes the right approach and comes out of this a better football team. I live in the real world where it takes real people, real time to come together and become the best team on earth. Keep the faith people.
