  1. Colts GM Ryan Grigson was adamant at the Owners Meetings on Monday that the team will not be trading RE Dwight Freeney.

It sounds like the Colts are willing to swallow Freeney's $19 million cap number in order to field a competitive defense. "I'm looking forward to Dwight Freeney being part of the Colts' defense in 2012," Grigson said. "He will be a Colt." Freeney could play the Terrell Suggs right-end role with Robert Mathis ticketed for Jarret Johnson duties in Chuck Pagano's Ravens-like defense.
  2. Panthers reportedly signed G/C Mike Pollak, formerly of the Colts.

The 2008 second-rounder has started 41 of 58 games the past four years, losing his job to former Arena Leaguer Kyle DeVan in 2009 and Jeff Linkenbach at mid-season last year. Pollak has been adequate as a pass blocker but ineffective as a run blocker in his four-year career. He could compete for the left guard vacancy created by Travelle Wharton's release.
  3. don't expect any big signings (like mario williams level player), this is the COLTS we are talking about. Name one "BIG" signing in the last 5 years from free agency? I'm sure there are some I just can't think of any.

The "Colts" you speak of fired everyone on the staff. Hired a new one. Got rid of their HOF QB and cut basically the whole team. What makes you think they cant sign FA's now?

  4. Yes... Not needed? I think a kicker is quite a necessity, just saying.

Also, Vinatieri is clutch. I can only recall one time (while with the Colts) where Vinatieri has missed a game tying/winning FG.

It's hard to see him being "NEEDED" now a days when the whole team has just been cut.

  5. Well regardless some disagree. I happen to value kickers very highly. Not saying we are going to offer Adam as he would have value to the team but it is not out of the question for teams to have interest in Adam. Yes kickers are cheap but a lot of teams franchised theirs because they didn't want to lose their quality kicker or go into a bidding war. Adam has certainly proven his value over many people taken in the 1st round much less the 4th or 5th.

Im sure kickers were franchised because they weren't losing more important players and the price for the kicker position was very low. So instead of paying the kicker to a new contract you get to keep him for 1 more year at a lower rate. Not because you value the position so much..

  6. I don't see the Colts cutting him. Just adds one more thing the Colts have to get. We already have enough players to get this offseason...

So instead of trying to save a few million on a young cheap prospect you rather just keep the not needed expensive kicker.
