How does that pick make this team player?
The FO who GET PAID AND ARE OCCUPIED to SCOUT had Dorsett rated as their HIGHEST AVAILABLE player at that point. So according the the People who we PAY to get these opinions, we added the BEST player available at that point in time to our team. That's how we got better...
Sorry, RealityisLuck....if you think this pick makes any sense then you must not have seen Luck get his brains beat in each week.....and you must have missed any of the meaningful games we played last year where we got our rear ends kicked all over the field. This pick was beyond brutal!!
I can think of only one scenario that this pick can be justified. ...and that is: we trade TY to the Jets and get Wilkerson in return. If they do that, i can justify this pick tonight.

Meanwhile, back in reality, we aren't any closer to being a SB team.
I made this same point in a rant over in the FA/Draft forum. Dorsett doesn't make this team any better today. .....this was an absolutely horrific pick. ....and i'm not buying what some people are saying about possibly replacing TY....if that was the case, they should have traded TY and gotten a pick back for him.

Are you kidding me??? Dorsett?? I bet the Pats war room was laughing at us when we made that pick. Absolutely awful! We've got Brown and Goldman gifted to us....sitting right there, and we take Dorsett. Explain to me how he makes this team any better??? To add insult to injury, the Pats go out and do the smart thing and take the player that can actually help their team get better in Brown. ....you could see it coming from a mile away. The Colts make the bad pick, the Pats make the smart pick. It's mind boggling to me how we made this pick tonight. ....dreadful!! I guess our front office likes watching this team get their teeth knocked in when they play a formidable opponent.
I'm beyond frustrated right now.
I've spent many years hating the Patriots with the very core of my soul. Tonight, i'm going to take my hat off to them for knowing how to build a team year in and year out. Tonight was further evidence of why we can't touch that organization. ....pardon the pun, but we are a one trick pony and this organization is clueless about "Building The Monster" ......if i hear anybody mention that phrase again, i'm going to vomit.
...I'm not trying to knock Dorsett here folks....even if he turns out to be a nice player, this is a horrendous pick. This team needs to be built from the inside out.. ...not the outside in. Tonight just seems like a wasted opportunity by us. We are so desperate for help on both sides of the line ...yet we take a WR... ....and the smart team did what you would expect, make a pick that makes total sense for them.
Sorry for the rant.....I'm extremely disappointed this evening.

We've talked about the D-Line a lot lately and who we want to draft and our opinion of all the D-Lineman. However someone lost in the shuffle is Malcom Brown. We've talked about every other one from Leonard Williams to Danny Shelton to Eddie Goldman to Carl davis and a couple more. I really haven't heard many opinions (if any) about malcom brown.
So my questions are, would you draft him, does he fit our scheme and basically where do you rank him among D-Lineman?
I've been pushing for either Brown or Goldman for months now. .....the thing with Brown is that he's likely to go a bit earlier. ....don't think he'll slide to us. ......he's a terrific player.

Per Ian Rappaport (twitter)
on phone, or else I'd post the link.
I've been wanting Goldman for months now. .....I'm hoping he's ranked high on their board.....at least higher than Jordan Philips.

There is a new mock draft available via SB Nation that has Landon Collins falling to the Colts.
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2015/3/16/8219223/2015-nfl-mock-draft-free-agency
While this mock draft is hardly definitive of what may transpire, I am curious if anyone is aware of reports of Collins' draft stock falling? It appears that questions about his coverage ability are the biggest knock against him, but given some of the premium deals the free agent safeties have received this offseason (see Ron Parker Chiefs) I would imagine teams might overdraft safeties (and defensive backs generally).
Safety is obviously one of our biggest needs in the draft, and while I am generally hesitant to trade up, it may make sense to trade up in the first and giving up our 2nd or 3rd round pick to land a potentially marquee safety in Collins.
Even if he does fall to us, we need to pass on him. ......we badly need interior DL help. .....I'm hoping for Goldman or Brown...although Brown seems unlikely to fall. ....If Goldman is there, he's ours. ....I'll pass on Philips as well and take an OL, if Goldman or Brown are gone. ....Flowers or Erving woud be a nice consolation prize.

It's obvious both of you have never really watched the guy play and probably got amazed at his size from the Combine. Armstead isn't a first round talent, nor a 2nd or 3rd in my opinion. He's a complete hype job because of his size. He really never dominated against weak Pac-12 lines and Ohio States OL, all underclassmen mind you, made him pull a Houdini in the title game. He's going to disappoint who ever drafts him.
I couldn't agree more. Armstead is eye candy...nothing more. ....he's not an impact player at all. I don't know what people here are thinking ..... People here need to watch some Eddie Goldman tape and see the effort that guy gives....he has the size we need for NT. .....that's the guy we need. .....If we draft Armstead, i'm going to break the TV.

Phillips definitely moves well for his size and has the ability to be a major force in the middle of the line. However, don't get too crazy over him based on this Clemson game. ......watch his other games and you'll see that for long periods of time, he isn't making an impact at all. ....I've watched a few Oklahoma games specifically eyeing Philips as one of our draft targets......he too often leaves a lot to be desired. The ability is there for sure......he just doesn't show it often enough. ......considering the need for NT, i could live with him being our first pick......but i'd much rather have Malcom Brown or Eddit Goldman.

I said in other threads, we don't need them to be who they were, just need them to be who we need them to be. Stay healthy as they have been (combined 1 missed game since 2011). Gore gets 4 YPC and doesn't fumble so as to help balance the offense, AJ gets his 80+ catches on 3-4 yard patriot-like routes while TY and Moncrief blow the top off the Defense.
Nail on the head! ......if this becomes official, i'm loving it.

Clemmings OT
A solid OT who could play RG and slide to RT when Cherilus is gone or start immediately at RT if Cherilus is cut! Regardless OT is a major weakness.
Phillips DL
This guy has all the tools to be a fantastic player. He would finally give the Colts that dominant NT we have anxiously waited for. DL is also a major weakness.
I don't like Phillips at all. For his size, he needs to show more dominance. ....i just don't see it with him. .....I'll take Eddie Goldman. He plays hard and would give us some badly needed toughness and energy on defense. ......I'd love Malcom Brown as well. ....don't think he'll slide to us though.
-
Let's excercise patience here.......he just might get cut. I'd rather go that route instead of making a trade...even if we're only giving up a 5th.
....if we miss out, we can pursue Johnson and probably get a better price. ...Johnson would be a nice stop gap for the next 2 years allowing Moncrief the time to develop.

With the possibility of Ngata being released the Colts could theoretically sign him and Knighton. Would you rather the Colts sign both of them or sign Suh. No indication any of this would happen just a hypothetical question.
I love Suh, but he's not JJ Watt....and he shouldn't get paid Watt money. ...for that reason alone, i say no.....whether it's Ngata + Knighton ...or some other combo, it seems this a good time to be in need of free agency help along the defensive line. .....let's take advantage of that and get multiple players along the line. .....plus we would still have the option to fill some other needs (Worilds, Hali..if he gets cut) ? ....we can draft Goldman in RD1 or maybe even Brown...if he slides. ...that would be a great new start to rebuilding the front 7.
Goldman or Brown
Ngata
Jones
plus Worilds/Hali ....I have very little expectations for Mathis this year.
we would still have money left over to be competitive filling in other needs
-
I don't see that trade making sense for us. ...I'd prefer to draft a RB and hold on to Werner instead. .....let's not forget that Werner is still learning and very much under development. ...I don't feel strongly about either Ball or Hillman being the RB we need.
Building The Monster .......that is the Patriots!

just curious, by your logic....If Winston fell to the Colts and he was their "highest rated" player available, are you saying it would have made sense for the Colts to draft Winston? ...i sure hope you don't see it that way.
