  1. I thought a lot of tonight's loss was mostly on the offensive line. Having two starters out caused a lot of trouble for Hass...Luck is mobile enough to overcome some of the lack of protection but Matt isn't. But beyond that he looked just "off" all night. Tons of checkdowns, dump offs, holding on too long (when he has been so good at getting rid of the ball fast), etc.

I can't blame this all on the defense. They kept it close in the first half, but when we immediately went  3 and out to start the 2nd half I knew we were in trouble. Yeah the final score looked bad, but the D was on the field way too much.

Gotta get back Castonzo and Thornton! Jax as a pretty stout front 7, it won't be an easy game.

  2. ESPN (I think) had a really good article on how slo-mo replay is really messing with the refs and how they call catches vs. non catches...basically, when slowed down to frame-by-frame, it changes the whole dynamic of the play vs real time. It introduces all types of things a ref wouldn't see in real time. Take Bradshaw today. That wasn't a fumble. But there was a teeny bit of movement right when his arm hit the turf, that could possibly had led to that call being overturned and ruled a fumble. Frame by frame replay is just not real world. And it is a big reason no one knows what a catch is anymore. I get replay for big things like: two feet down, bobbling, did the ground aid the catch, etc. But this micro-analyzation of every detail is what ia ruining these calls. Maybe speed up the replay to something above frame by frame. It's a hard concept to explain and the article I read did a better job...but basically let the refs do their job. Make it clear what is and isn't a catch and stop dissecting every little action....K.I.S.S in other words

  3. If NE had to play an actual decent team right now they'd lose. They have really lucked out with their schedule this year. As of right now they haven't played a single team with a winning record. Denver will be a test if Osweiller doesn't crap the bed. They can plug and play like no other team in the NFL, but even so there is a tipping point. They'd get beaten by the Cards pretty handily right about now, IMO. Carolina would probably give them fits too, but their offense isn't nearly as potent as Arizona's. They've been on a roll but they've not played anyone of note, including us. We are .500

  4. The Pats at Gillette get all the calls, including that nonsense "inadvertent whistle" deal....didn't everyone know this? If the Pats get home field in the playoffs (which they will) the only chance for anyone to beat them is in the SB. What I'd give to see a regular season matchup vs the Cards right about now. Or any other NFC top tier team, bc the AFC is Pats and everyone else currently

  5. They probably won't miss a beat. Amendola can fill Edelmans spot. Losing Gronk would be the real killer. And their remaining schedule is easier than once thought. Unless Denver can right the ship, I don't see another loss.....maybe @Jets, if they show up to play. Of course it is the NFL....we'll see.

  6. Tony Romo

    Enough Said

This ^^^^^ bc Romo played behind the supposed best NFL line. I agree that Grigson has to get better protection, and he has failed at that...that said, this was a football injury. Luck elected to run and he got hit. I hate it and it sucks, but Luck's play is at LEAST a part of this. I love him for extending plays with his legs, or staying in the pocket a bit too long.....but PLEASE stop blaming his line.
  7. Yeah...he has never been on Vonatae's level but when healthy in past years he was decent. Not great, got burnt aome, but not as bad as this year. Looks lost at times out there. Hopefully we can get someone better next year in that position...bc Toler has regressed

  8. So, TY got called for going out of bounds and being the first guy back in to touch the ball. But where was the flag for a blatant helmet to helmet hit by the Denver DB? I mean he laid Hilton out. How there wasn't a flag on that one was beyond me. Hilton was clearly dazed and it took him a bit to get up. The replay was pretty clear too. I know we won and I'm happy, but had Hilton ended up hurt on that play I'd be pretty mad.

  9. Dakich was saying a few days ago that Chud was never in the running bc he was hired by the Browns before Pep....I think that is some nonsense. I did a little research, and Chud was hired on January 10th, 2013. Pep was hired on the 19th. I think Pagano wanted Chud, and he probably would have taken the job if not offered the HC job with the Browns. Pep was probably the 2nd choice. Arians was clearly being courted at the time, so that writing was on the wall. But to say Chud was never in the running (as Dakich suggested) is speculation. But Dakich is known for running off at the mouth with nothing to back it up

  10. As a Colts fan those one and dones were disappointing, no doubt. Especially after blowing the doors off many teams during the regular season. There were always nail biters each season, for sure. But it seemed, especially later in the Manning era, that I was just waiting for the playoffs to start. We all expected regular season success. But I at least, started to expect underperformance in the playoffs. 2007 was understandable bc we were pretty decimated by injuries. 2008 sucked bc we had to play @SD despite us being 12-4 and them being 8-8. 2005 was the worst by far. 2010 sucked bc in hindsight it was Manning's last game as a Colt....but that team wasn't going too far due to another rash of injuries (Blair White, anyone?)

It boils down to this.....it's all about the playoffs. In any sport but especially in the NFL. People remember SB champs, not who got home field throughout the playoffs. Fair or not, that is the reality. The Braves are remembered for only 1 World Series win despite so many pennants and division titles. Same with the Colts thus far. But it sure beats being a Browns/Lions/Bucs fan

  11. One big difference....Manning didn't have CRACKED RIBS in his 4th season. But yeah both having bad 4th seasons is pretty weird. Funny how that works out.

And yes this fan base is spoiled. It's hard to win multiple SBs. Since 2000....Not counting New England, which we can all agree is an aberration bc of their coach, QB, and system (meaning they're damn good), you have: the Ravens (who went so long between them you really can't count it. I mean Ray Lewis was probably the only player on both teams.) The Giants won two, but have also had some down years. Pittsburgh is the only other to win more than one. Sustained greatness is tough. It's tougher when you make the playoffs every year and have to pick at the bottom of the draft rounds. Even Baltimore and Pittsburgh have had some pretty bad seasons since 2000...the Colts have had two, ok three if we count this year. Even Green Bay, who is a model of consistent success, has only won 1 SB since 2000.

I'm not saying I'm happy with this season. There is dysfunction and some house cleaning is in order in the offseason. But to act like 3 straight 11-5 seasons and going further each year in the playoffs is all for nothing, well that is ridiculous
