  1. Thanks to those who decided to vote. My god I can’t believe how even the voting was. That’s how I feel. I can’t really decide. I would say 75% of me would want that Super Bowl but winning the majority of those other 64 games might be better than that one win and tons of loses.

I think I’m one of the people who hate losing more than I love winning lol. Anyways I wasn’t trying to cause a debate on Ballard or his plan I was really just trying to figure out what would be better as a fan base. As a pacers fan I often grapple with this same idea. Blow the team up that realistically has no shot or make it to the playoffs. I still don’t know exactly how I feel either choice honestly but you guys helped a lot. Thanks.

  2. Jeeez does  anyone on here know the meaning of a hypothetical debate? I’m not staying there are guarantees in real life lol. Let me say it again!  In real life no guarantees. Ok to make things easier for folks to understand let’s say an imaginary fairy says the colts can win the super bowl this year but be horrible for the next 4 years.  Or......we can be GUARANTEED to win  10 games and make the playoffs the next 5 years which would you do?  Does this make it easier to understand??  Again I know there are no guarantees in real life. I wrote it the way I did to make it a somewhat plausible scenario and relative to what we are going through now. It was my mistake. I was just wanting to know what is the better outcome.

  3. I know it’s not realistic lol. I’m just asking hypothetically.  I remember when the marlins won the World Series and gutted the team after.  I was a Braves fan and we would win our division every year for 14 years  but only the World Series once  and the marlins would be terrible it Seemed every year but they ended up winning more World Series in that 15 year period than the Braves. I always would think which fan base had it better??  So I’m wondering what you guys think about it when referring to the colts. I genuinely have no idea how I feel about it.

  4. Would you rather go all in during free agency and basically guarantee yourself a super bowl  let’s say 95% chance  but the catch is .....your team will be terrible afterward for the next 4 years or would you basically do what we have been doing for the last 15 years and go the consistently good route and look for consistency.     Basically is that one ring worth being miserable for the next four years or is the glory better than being just above mediocre on a consistent bAsis and having a winning team for the next 5 years?

    Two points

    1. Kansas City 31 and Indy Colts 13. Andrew Luck had one WR that he trusted and he was hurt Hilton (and it is probably safe to assume Ty will be hurt again). There was no running game. There was no pass rush. And couldn’t stop the run. All this team had at the time was good locker room culture. WHY is Chris bringing back the same team. I said if only they had another WR that could ball. So much for A Brown, OBJ, or L Bell instead the Colts got good culture along with that 31 - 13 loss before a National audience

    2. If the one cornerback the Colts had, Pierre D was the only corner who at times last year had a pretty good season. And Chris is refusing to sign the guy because Chris wants to save money.

What makes you think he will sign Colts in the future (not named Andrew Luck)?

When guys like D. Leonard, M Hooker hit free agency they’re going to ask for the bank.

You have some good points especially when I always hear people saying Ballard is going to rely on the draft and use the money to sign our own guys. I think guys who have played well for us should be rewarded especially if they are still somewhat young and not asking for a kings ransom. If we were a franchise stuck for cash I would understand more but we have more money than anyone. I just think it sends the wrong message.  I will be livid if we lose our most recent draft guys because we are too cheap to keep them especially when all this money we aren’t spending was supposed to be to keep them.

Off topic it’s  been a bad year for me as far as sports teams and team building. My fav baseball team the Braves traded matt kemp and other players supposedly To spend this year on  free agents and straight up lied to the fans and haven’t spent at all what they said they would on the team so at least the colts aren’t outright lying to us lol.

  6. I think Ballard deserves the benefit of doubt from his past success. With that being said as a fan we all want the best for our team and it’s hard to see some of these really good players get signed up by other teams every single year.

I totally think Ballard has the correct strategy by building with the draft and using  free agency to plug holes but darn it when an oppurtunity arises to shore up a spot of weakness I think you gotta do it. You only get so many draft picks each year and luck isn’t going to be In his prime forever.  I’m not saying we should be like Grigson was....not at all, I would just like maybe a combo of 80% Ballard and 20% grigson

One last point is that I believe Indiana fans are pretty spoiled when it comes to sports franchises especially lately. The pacers almost always seem to make the playoffs and the colts in the last 20 years or so have made the playoffs 80% of the time.  I think Indiana fans are tired of just making the playoffs and feel that we should be more aggressive. I’m not saying I totally agree but I could see where a person who is bored with the Pacers constantly being a 4-8 seed and losing in the first round or the colts winning 10 games and losing in the first round would be willing to trade winning a super bowl this year even if it means not being very competitor for the next 3 years. The ownership of course are completely opposite. They could care less if we win a championship (especially the pacers owner). They just care about being competitive enough that we keep people coming to the games. So In their eyes stability is smart and good business even if stability is a 10 win season and loss in the conference finals year after year.

Again I think Ballard is doing a great job and he is prob doing the right thing it’s just that it would be super sweet to sign a super star free agent every once in awile

  7. I totally agree James. I usually hate spending big in free agency and last year I was ok with it. I don’t believe in building a team through free agency but draft but once you have a play off team I think it’s time to get one or two huge playmakers to put you over the edge and make you truly elite and I think we could of done that especially with the amount of money we have to spend this year. Good teams and a guy like luck in his prime doesn’t hit a franchise that often. You have to capatialize and I fear we are being like the pacer and just want to be consistent winners but never truly great. Just good enough to keep fans in the seats and for people to keep their jobs.

  8. Thanks crazy colt and everyone else for shedding some light on this topic for me. I keep hearing about him, so I was curious what type of player he projects to be in the future.  I admit I don’t watch any college sports so I am totally clueless when it comes

to that. Anyways thanks a lot and hopefully he matures and becomes a heck of a player.

You can look at him on youtube.

I did watch his highlight videos but it’s hard to get a definitive answer from watching those videos because they only show his big flashy plays. I don’t have time to watch film on him or anything like that and even if I did I probably wouldn’t see some of the intricate things some on here might notice that’s why I’m asking. So can someone tell me what type of receiver he is???

  10. I’m not too familiar with Cain. Can someone tell me what kind of receiver he is?  Is he a small fast guy like TY or Marvin ....a good possession guy like Reggie Wayne, or a big bodied red zone guy or guy u throw deep balls to that will out leap the guy covering him for the jump ball??  Out of those which would you say describes him best??

  11. Yah I agree. I see some pretty rude things being said on here and sometimes it’s like people are willing to cut your throat verbally with a drop of a dime. Usually it’s tigertown on here asking for people to be nice and civil and I will admit I used to sort of roll my eyes at him but he was right. People on here can be really negative to one another and we are all colts fans!  If you wanna be mean hit up the pats fans and let them have it lol.  So yah let’s all keep united and if someone asks a “stupid question” or creates a thread just to say “ I love luck” just go on about your day and ignore it if you don’t like it.

  12. O I forgot to add I don’t think the nfl is rigging the games for New England but after for a long time believing that there would be no motive for the nfl to put New England in the Super Bowl considering everyone is sick of them.....I realized they would be the perfect team to get ratings. New England is the skip Baylee’s of football teams. Just like Skip just as many people if not more tune in because they hate them and want to see them lose. So like I said I don’t think it’s completely rigged, too many moving pieces but if it was I could see the nfls motive.  I think it’s most likely if New England is cheating its them bugging opposing teams locker rooms or head sets or something to that affect.

  13. I’m sitting here scratching my head at what makes the pats win every freaking year!  I mean yes Brady is great but so is brees and Peyton and many other qb who have played in this league and none have won as much as that annoying bum.

Then there is bellichick, he is a great coach I won’t deny that but is he really that freaking smart that all the coaches and the league can’t figure him out? Is he really that much smarter than every single coach to ever coach the game?  I just don’t get it.

I’m not saying they are always cheating but my god something just doesn’t seem right to me especially considering all the stuff they have been caught doing in the past. I forget who it was who said it but they were referring to sports and they basically said that god created all men basically equal. Yes some are a little smarter and some are a little more physically gifted but when you have an outlier someone who is way way way way better than everyone who’s ever lived than something is most likely up.

So is there anything we can learn from the pats or are they just willing to cheat more than the rest or is the nfl rigged?  I’m being serious here I am not making this to bash NE I’m just wondering how they can be head and shoulders better than everyone. I can see where a team like golden state or someone like that can be , they have 4 or 5 superstars on playing for them every single night out of a 5 player lineup. The pats may have one or two stars but destroy everyone.  How is this happening?  Are the players aware of the cheating and just don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them out of fear?  Ok rant over.

  14. Dang that 40 time is unreal for a guy as big as he was and with the cuts he could make. One of my fav memories about edge was my friend ( who was a saints fan) pointing out how weird it was that edge and Peyton got along so well. You had Peyton a goofy country boy who was kind of nerdy but in a good way and then you have edge who has gold teeth and dread locks. Then you add Marvin who was as quiet as a mouse but would light you up.  It didn’t matter though, they were great teammates and goes to show you can’t judge a book on its cover and that people who seemingly are totally different can get along.

  15. I was pretty new to football and the colts when edge was a rookie and like many others have said on here I do not remember him being that big at all!  Sadly, I seem to remember him mostly after his injury. He was a very good player and what stood out to me was his vision and patience. He would almost trot behind a lineman and pick up 4 yards at a time almost at will.

After watching this video I am shocked at the speed and burst he had pre injury. He was like a mix of Barry Sanders and Jim brown. He deserves to be in the hall now but if he hadn’t gotten injured I think he would of def been an all time great.

  16. Is he going to have to have surgery? If so how long is he supposed to be out?

If he truly was negatively affected by his injury than I truly feel sorry for the guys who will face him in the next few years but it may backfire against us .......

Once he is totally healthy, hits the weight room with pro trainers for a consistent length of time and the game totally slows down to him he is going to be getting flagged all game because he’s going to make people look so bad that the ref is just going to assume a penalty took place.  I’m totally joking but sadly I think many of his penalties came because he obliterated his opponents and the refs had no idea what they were witnessing because they hadn’t seen anything like it before.

  17. Lol was autry that out of control?  I didn’t see the whole game because I admittingly got disgusted and said if they don’t care than neither do I and turned it off. Anyways, this is like the 3rd thread that said autry was acting like an * out there or out of control.

  18. What I’m saying is both those games we came out the first half and got huge leads against tenn (the game their defensive coordinator went to hospital and against the Texans last week ) and didn’t score the second half and then the next games we lost big and looked our worst all year (against jags whom shut us out , and against Kc this week).  No doubt we played a better team I’m not denying that, but I think we are def better than Jacksonville and I think we could of competed better than we did yesterday as well.
