Cuts:
Donald Thomas LG: He hasn't hit the field for more then 3 games in two seasons and is too prone for injury to be worth it.
Laron Landry: It's Self explainatory.
Erik Walden: He isn't bad don't get me wrong. But there are so man more names in FA colts need to target that set the edge so much better and could come in right away.
Matt Hall, Shawn Lousieu, Aaron Morgan: They've been around 1-2 years never hit the field. New undraftees mean new sqaud bodies.
Colts now have 64.7m!
You have to be conservative. 8 draft picks (before grigs touches them) likely 11m against cap. 53.7m. Then we need rollover for Allen(5 per), Luck(22 per), Hilton (9 per) so around 13m give or take. 40.7m. We need 5m for in season transactions. 35.7m to spend. So almost exactly where we started.
Now what do you wait for in the draft and what do you sign.
Team Needs: Pass Rushing DE, Ball hawk FS, Tackling SS, Coverage and speed MLB, Run stuffing DT, Edge setter OLB, #2 or #3 WR, Rotational RB, Backup OT, Backup Quarterback, Right Guard.
That's too much to fix clearly so let's look at the options.
First things first Free agency:
We are a small market team so our only tactict is we have LUCK!
No huge names will be here so that's why we need our draft picks.
Resignings:
Colts don't have that much that people will bite after.
Jerrel Freeman 4/16m (2.7m hit) Why: He's our best MLB and a crucial part of our makeshift defense right now.
Darius Butler: 3/7m (1.5m hit) He is a top ten slot corner and has been for us for a few seasons.
Josh Cribbs: 1/1m Why: He loves us and Coaches love him. If he continues to return well he should go fight for a ring.
AQ Shipley 2/2m(750k hit) Why he should be our starter to begin with and has played well this season. Colts show no trust in Holmes too.
Sergio Brown 1/1.5m Why: He's a servicable starter with a lot of ambition
Colt Anderson 1/750k Why: He is crucial to our great special teams unit this season
ERFA Tenders (500k each): Herron, Nixon, Mcnary
This concludes resigning a crucial part of a small market team. We have 26m to spend now
Free agency is nerve racking for players so getting contract steals is critical
First two day signings:
Brian Orakpo OLB 4/24m (4m hit) Erik going we'd have a great edge setting OLB him and Mathis with newsome and Werner rotating is nasty
James Carpenter 4/18m (3.5m hit) OG Why: He's a guard. rotate with with thornton. and backups losing reitz. And he is a power run guard and can move thronton over from LG to RT
Jake Locker 2/5m (2m hit) Why: If I'll be honest I don't think it matters who backups Luck because we suck by default then. Feel he'd backup well
Torrey Smith 5/30m (5m hit) Why: We have a big tall receiver. T.y. the fan favorite and Mocrief the big up and comer.
Three-Five days
Rahim Moore FS 2/5m (2m hit) Why: He had a very very dangerous injuiry. This barely touches our cap and could be a huge gain
Walter Thurmond CB 3/9m (2m hit). Another season ending injuiry but he is good. He should be able to rotate toler due to injuries so we would get a lot better in the corner depth
Knoshwon Moreno RB 2/2m (1m hit) What do we lose
Six and over (desperation for a player signing)
Antrel Rolle 2/6m (2.5m hit) He's old I know but the skill set is there and with help from moore it'd go great.
Derrick Morgan OLB 1/1m Why: He can get pressure when he needs too
We have 3m leftover for roster fillers.

I'll be honest. People won't agree. I'm just a fan which means I dont take it as seriously as grigs. I love this team. I hope that this helps our team and that grigs can make a great offseason getting us a lombardi trophy( his second because of this years). Hopefully this creates an idea of what people think woul work. If anyone has suggestions let me know. Thanks. The goal:

I'm thinking about all the defensive line issues next year with Can Ricky step up, Redding leaving that maybe Kerr could be the starting DT of the future. Jones plays either DT/DE so he could move over and seeing no good 3-4 DE's in free agency and maybe fall in the draft we might have to sign a big DT/NT or put our faith in KErr to start at DT or Ricky to start at DE and Jones DT. Should we give Kerr a shot like Jets did Damon Harrison now one of best 3-4 nose tackles in football?
