  1. True, there is no such thing as a sure thing.

However, as prospects, Elway was and Luck is rated higher than PM.

We know Luck was good at Stanford but that's not a powerhouse conference when it comes to defense. The odds are more in favor of Luck being average than being an elite player. I know Luck is your guy, I've read your posts for months. Your opinion is that, just your opinion. I can't change your thinking more than you can change mine. That's called respectfull acknowledgment.
  2. Yes, there are no assurances that Luck will be a success. However, given his consensus rating by scouts, and rankings that place him above many good QB prospects in over several decades, I think the probability of Luck busting out is very very very small. If there ever was a sure thing with draft prospects, I think Luck and Elway the closest to that definition.

Yes, Luck rates higher than PM did as a prospect.

There's no such thing as a sure thing in sports. Luck is good, Manning is good, Elway was good.
  3. There are no assurances with Manning either. We don't know that he can ever play like his former self again. Luck might be the safer bet at this point.

I think you can be 100% assured thay Manning will work 110% to get back to playing. No one works harder than that guy so why do you doubt him. His neck is stronger than before it's a matter of the nerve regeneration. I think we've seen evidence that his arm is coming back. You know what you got with Manning but 28 million is a lot of money to pay and hamstring your salary cap that the issue.
  4. Whats that new CBA issue with the franchise tag that can be used that requires draft pick compensation if player signs with another team even if franchised? Get Mathis signed by 4:00 then use that element of the franchise tag on Wayne, then if he decides to go to another team we get something for his loss.

  5. But what would be the advantage for him to do so? Any publicity from it would be negative and he isn't one to like that kind.

Irsay has already went back on his previous statements. Irsay is in a no win situation here. I personally have heard the boo's going Irsay's way since the "The Thrown Season." He was booed when introduced at the Super Bowl when introduced. There are more fans out there that dislike him now than ever before. The Manning thing has not been handled right and Irsay should have just said nothing but he has stuck his foot in his mouth numerous times. We all know its a business and you can't pay that contract to Manning going forward but you don't say money is never in question.

It's a business and we know that but as an employee you work harder for your employer when you know there is loyality and respect even when were talking about playing a game for millions of dollars. It's still your lively hood and your health and when you know a team's management isn't loyal and respectful, you have to think it makes players scratch there heads about wanting to come here and play. Irsay has said its not about the money but it is. You say it's up to Manning if he wants to come back but why would Manning want to come back for less money, to a rebuilding franchise, to mentor your replacement, just doesn't make since.

  6. I remember that sack and it was bad. There was an obvious attempt to hurt on that play. Read what you want into but that was bad and they didn't even throw a flag on that play. I had insight from a sorce that Manning was in a lot of pain after that game and was very unhappy about the play.

  7. Well, it looks like #18 is indeed throwing and progressing back to his old self. Good for him, glad to see the guy that never missed a game in 12 seasons appears to be back to his usually self. Anyone that doubted it must have lived under a rock. Now it comes done to the money part which Irsay said it wouldn't be about, lol. Everyone has jumped on the Luck bandwagon now so where does that put us?????? Hmmmmmmmmmm! I hope he restructures the deal with Irsay because this is now a no win situation for the owner. If I'm Irsay, I have to believe he is hoping Manning restructures because this is forever going to tarnish his name with some fans. The ones that aren't real fans though. The bandwagon jumpers and the fair weather fans, you know those guys. The Peyton FanBoys I think they were called.

Do the right thing, restructure to a more cap friendly contract Peyton, stay around for 3 more years. Get ownership to trade that dang #1 draft pick and lets go get some players to help bring this franchise back. This time we'll draft a QB to develop behind you so we no longer have dead weight sitting on the roster. Bring Wayne and the boys back for a ride off into the sunset the right way.

Five more days and we'll know something, going to be interesting.

  8. Everyone on here is talking this and talking that, this player did this and that player did that. Look, what weapons are we going to have on offense? We have no RB's, we don't have a #1 WR under contract and our TE is done. You guys can all scream we need Luck but the fact remains we need numerous draft picks and the only way to get that is keep Manning and trade that #1 pick. Sure, we lose a top QB but we need a lot of pieces to fix this team. This team needs a housing edition not a 12 acre farm out in the middle of no where. Wake up and quit drinking the we need this, "Water."

  9. No one wants Peyton to return more than me because I think he gives us the best opportunity to win going forward this year. I believe loyality is important and that Irsay wants him to return but I also have come to the conclusion that we can't pay Peyton 28 million $'s without knowing what he has and where he is health wise. I understand that now but what gets me is how people can just say good bye and dont let the door hit ya. Thanks for everything but hey were going to root for someone else now your used up. Thats what some of the posters on here sound like.

Thats the part I can't understand. They want to hide behing the curtain of, this is a team thing. Well, we've known for the last 14 season's that if Manning ever went down we would be in trouble and then when it happened, 2-14. Before that Manning took us to great places and achieved great things. We never had a defense, very seldom could we run the ball. We were built around the greatest QB to play the game. Quit bashing the guy that brought us to where we are today. Show some respect for what he gave us and be loyal to the hope because if Manning hadn't been drafted 14 years ago the Colts would be nothing and that derserves some thought.

It's about 28 million dollars and in the salary era, it only makes sense. So here's to Manning hopefully coming back at a lesser cap hit but by March 8th he's going to get released. Lets hope he resigns for less money and we can move on. Were drafting Luck #1 cause I guess, it's what makes sense but if Manning comes back and Luck has to sit for 2-3 years behind him, lets hope it all works out for the best.

If Manning doesn't come back, then don't think there's not going to be fans upset and outfalling from that because if you don't then we might as well pay the 28 million cause it's just as silly to think there won't be Manning fallout from the fanbase. I know, I know don't let the door hit you in the butt. I've heard it 28 million times! Go Colts, Go Manning, hope to see you in Colts Blue real soon!

  10. He has the potential to be a #2. I can't remember him calling out anyone on the field. I think Wayne's attitude towards free agency has been way worse than Garcon's. We still aren't sure why Garcon rejected the deal

Not sure you see everything on TV but when your at the game you see things. There were severals times he was out on the field and he started going crazy because the QB checked out of a play going to him. He came over several times and yelled at the coaches and pointed at the QB. I seen it and it got worse as the season went on. Probable seen this happen about seven times throughout the season. He never would have done that if Manning were the QB.
  11. It's up to Manning really! Either he takes a pay cut and redo's the contract prior to March 8th or they release him. Irsay isn't going to pay him that $28 million. He can't, there's no way, it kills our cap. I want Manning back more than anyone but I've come to the conclusion he's not coming back to the Colts. It's about the money and the current contract won't allow that. It's up to Manning now.

  12. I don't believe that the PM decisions are even about money anymore.

    1. Irsay wants to move entire team in new direction. Starting to look as though GM and HC were hired because neither one has any ties to PM and Irsay wanted guys that would have a problem giving him the axe if needed. (hoping this is not the case)

    2. If both PM and Irsay agree on wanting to stay in Indy, then undoubtedly, an agreement could be reached. With an incentive laiden contract, PM could theoretically be signed right now. This makes me think that Irsay still on the fence about what direction to go.

    3. If PM does return, the Colts will still chose Luck or another early round QB. By doing this and PM still being resigned, PM would be admitting the he IS being phased out and would he be willing to play on a team the is just looking for a reason to start the future QB?

My opinion for what its worth: If healthy, resign PM. trade first pick for multiple first round picks. Chose QB in draft that shows all the promise but could use and would be willing to take the tutoring for a couple years under PM (this I think would also solve the problem of stiil needing to sign a backup QB.) Chose a lights out receiver high in the draft, then focuse remaining picks on defense.

Still believe that keeping PM on the team, taking into account his medical progress, still gives us the best chance to win while keeping all involved happy.

I am with ya, my friend. I have been saying this since we got the #1 overall pick but everyone is so quick to just say lets move on. Getting Manning to restructure a cap friendly deal is the best case situation if he's healthy. This gives us the best opportunity to reload without just cleaning house and let's you save face. Keeping Manning and drafting Luck doesn't address any of our concerns other than QB and were in a lot more trouble than just that position.
  13. Why do people doubt Peyton?

Age, Injury History, Lack of sufficient evidence of recovery.

    That about covers it.

He's 36 and has 3 to 4 more years of playing time, he had no injury history prior to last year. I believe he played 13 years without missing a game so where's the history of injury. I believe there is evidence of recovery. The real issue is money. I guess you can't pay him 28 million without knowing he can play. That's the doubt right there. You can't pay a guy 28 million not knowing if he's healthy enough to play. I've come to grips with that. Now if Manning can't take a pay cut I'm good with that.
  14. How quickly they forget what you did for the organization, what you meant to the fan base, and what you meant to a city. You do everything for them and they just throw you away. I do believe both sides need to give ground and I can see where Irsay can't pay 28 million on unknowns but Manning needs to give ground too. Just think, would we even be having this conversation if Manning hadn't lost the entire 2011 season to injury?

I think it's just stupid how Manning and Irsay can't just have a press conference and tell everyone whats going on. It's just stupid to cause this kind of rift within your organization and your fanbase. It's called respect!

  15. I don't see our O-line being any better and I don't see Brown and Addai being the answer at RB so I don't know how our running game can be any better but someone that can pass the ball might help but whose he going to throw it too. Collie is a Slot receiver, he has trouble getting off the line in press coverage so you can't move him to the outside. Garcon, I hope were not counting on him. He's probable a #3 WR at best. Lets face it, we need a lot of skill position guys and there not coming without picks. We need Manning to restructure come back healthy and trade that #1 pick. It only makes since. If you could do a deal to get Richardson and Blackmon then we could do something, lol.

  16. Yes they should trade the pick to Cleveland and get the #4 and #22 1st round picks from them along with there 2012, 2nd round pick and there 2013 1st round pick. Maybe even a DT. Then they would have two 1st, and 2 early 2nd round picks this year and then two 1st round picks next year with one of them potentially being the #1 overall pick again cause Cleveland will suck again this year.

That would give us 7 picks in the 1st two rounds of the draft in the next two years. I think we can get a lot of players to help reload this team instead of rebuilding totally. This would allow us the opportunity to draft a QB in the later rounds to develop behind a healthy Manning that restructures his deal to be more cap friendly and allows us some cap space. It's a no brainer! Give me all those picks and a healthy Manning for three more years and were good.

    Thats good business!
