  1. It all comes down to whether the Broncos WRs are physical coming off the line of scrimmage. Some have accused certain members of that corps of being soft (DT in particular). They really need to establish from the first series that they aren't going to get bullied. If they allow the Seattle CBs to dictate the terms of the match, so to speak, the Broncos will find themselves in trouble.

  2. The verb you're both looking for is "affect". "Effect" is a noun.

Jvan, just because something wasn't called make it a legal play. By that logic, all the non-calls that worked out in our favor were well and good. I don't think anyone here is going to come to an unbiased determination as to whether it was clean, because we're on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to out relative affection for all things Patriots. The other boards I post on were fairly mixed in their reaction, so it's not very clear even to fans without a horse in the race.

Not that it matters anyways, I'll repost this once again because it's really all that needs to be said:

I think it was intentional. I think the hit on DRC was intentional. It's no secret that BB had issues with Welker even when he was here, and this is just an extention of the hostility that exists between them. It's not the reason why we lost. I hate when people make excuses. You can point to the final score and try to claim that the game was competitive, but anyone who actually watched the game knows it wasn't. We looked hopeless on offense before Talib wen't out, and we looked hopeless afterwards. We were never going to outscore Denver, even if their point total was slightly lower, which wasn't a guarantee should Aquib have stayed in.I love how hypotheticals always play in the favor of those that use them as well (e.g. Aquib was going to shut down DT). Who's to say that he doesn't have a terrible 2nd half and get burned a couple of times? It's completely useless to speculate.

  3. I didn't post evidence for no.8 because I'm not sure if it's alright to post a "60 Minutes" video on YouTube. It was originally taken down, and I wasn't going to risk it if no one wanted it due to YouTube's 3 strike rule. I converted it to an audio clip. I'm mistaken in that the question was "who throws the wobbliest spiral in the NFL," not the "worst," but I think it's the same thing, since a wobbly spiral is a bad spiral to begin with, so I still think Brady was out of line here.

I was hoping to hear a cogent argument to back your claims, but instead I was treated to partisan analysis like this. As you admit, you misquoted Brady in the first place, most likely blinded by your hatred from him. But hey, we all make mistakes when we're angry.  People have noted Manning has thrown ducks for decades for years now. He's never thrown the prettiest ball, and I've heard commentators rib Peyton on the highlight reel talking about tossing up a duck. It doesn't matter if the pass wobbles when it's put in the perfect spot. I love how you say Brady slighted Peyton, yet has said that he thinks Peyton is the best ever. Care to adress that? I know you're a cantankerous partisan by all accounts, so I'm sure that you'll say that he was being disingenuous. ;)

And I'll just leave this here, because it's clear that this guy is going to cherry pick what information he presents. Instead of a cut clip, here's a full interview discussing PM:

  5. Threads like this aren't even needed anymore. Peyton Manning is simply a better player than Tom Brady, and it's not that close. It doesn't matter where the Patriots and Colts accrued their wins in head to head matchups in which the two players weren't directly competing against each other. This isn't a 1 on 1 game of basketball.

I'm a Patriots fan, and I'm tired of hearing people trying to make this an argument. The Superbowl in 2007 clearly left Brady shellshocked. His deep ball has been terrible since then, and he's been living off of a very limited set of skills (short dink and dunk passes) ever since. He's been horrific in the playoffs except in a few games where we were the heavy favorites. Manning has been excellent since 2007 or so. At this point I'm genuinely shocked when Tom plays well in the postseason, and that's pretty sad. He's done in my opinion.

  6. It's funny what people will try to hang their hats on to make themselves feel better. Like I said, confirmation bias is an incredible phenomenon.

I'm enjoying the collective beating of the chests here, with posters exclaiming that they, along with the Colts fanbase, are classy, mellow and hospitable. More generalizations.

Keep telling the world how great you are. Class is whispered, never screamed. ;)

  7. Denver should beat us pretty comfortably. They have Julius Thomas this time around, and we are even more injured than last time. Add in the weather, which is projected to be placid and near 60 degrees, and DEN's homefield advantage, and I don't see how we win. Call me a pessimist, but there's really nowhere that we match up well with them. But hey, I never thought we'd make it this far, so maybe I'll be wrong one more time. DEN 38-24.

I can't see 2 team's beating SEA at home in the same year,. I think they're going to blow out SF and reallhy make a statement. Just a gut feeling.SEA 31-13.

  8. Interesting that no one brings up the fact that the Patriots had to play with the pressure of an undefeated season (the thing that the Colts were so terrified of that they threw away their chance at it...as if they believed that certain players on their team couldn't handle it).

Also interesting that people bring up the fact that Brady threw 80 more times, only mentioning that he threw 1 more touchdown...but ignore that he threw 2 fewer interceptions.

Not sure I expected anything but biased evaluations on these forums, but I was hoping those points would be made. As far as my own assessment goes, I judge their relative levels of impressiveness on the basis of the eye test. For me, Marino '84>Manning '04>Brady '07>Manning '13. Manning's '04 was the best of this era, and really puts this current season to shame. I don't recall him headhunting by throwing an inordinate amount of his total TDs from the goal line, nor do I remember relying so heavily on YAC.

  9. When ever has the national media ever taken the side of Manning/Colts losing the game as a team? You obviously are very familiar with ESPN. All they've been talking about is the loss of Gronk instead of the fact that Brady had four shots inside the 20 to win the game with the same group of WRs he's had most of the year.

Perhaps they, like most others, do not see this as a good example of Brady "choking", and your vitriol is born of your own bias. Perhaps they saw Brady's previous TD drive, the drop in the endzone by Amendola, or other plays, and don't see things as one-sided as you do. None of the other forums I was on had posters blaming Brady, and there's plenty of anti-Pats folk there. Like I said, maybe this wasn't a good game to use to fuel your agenda.

Nobody was making excuses like they are for Brady in 2010 for Manning when he was essentially in the same spot.

Except every Colts fan on this board.

The national medias love affair with Brady's previous accomplishments have blinded them to the fact that they are a mediocre team riding the coat tails of a all-time great QB this year. They won't go far at all in the playoffs without Gronk and that defense.

No one thinks the Pats are going to do anything in the playoffs given our injuries, but that isn't going to stop you and your friends from building us up and acting like we were favored to win it all when we lose, to make it seem like a choke. There isn't one team in the current playoff seeding that I think we are legitimately better than. We're going to be the underdog in every game we play.

And as a final point, I'm just going to mention that I invite you to keep making sarcastic posts and sardonic comments. It always comes around. With the records the Broncos have set this year and the way the AFC field is in shambles, if Manning loses there is going to be indescribable fallout. When the trolls flood these boards, remember threads like this.

  10. My point is that Brady recieves all the love when you guys win but in a loss it's the teams fault.

All I'm asking for is consistency. When you guys win, the media and Patriots fans need to give credit to the team, in the same way that they do when they lose.

Speaking of special teams, Browns don't blow that onside kick last week and you are looking at consecutive losses. Give Brady's team credit, they've put him in unbelievable situations to pull off those comebacks.

And you Colts fans fail to realize that this double standard goes both way, because you're blinded by your own bias and self-righteousness. The list of excuses for Manning's performances is every bit as extensive as those for Brady's. I still remember that espn poll asking the 50 states to attribute blame for the SB loss. 49 out of 50 gave it to Manning. Want to guess which state gave the blame to Hank Baskett? ;)

Celebration threads like this are exactly what is going to inspire the troll posts if/when the Broncos and Colts lose in the postseason. As far as today, there's plenty of blame to go around. Poor throws by Tom, horrendous OL play, drops by receivers all did us in. If you're looking for an example of Brady "choking" I don't see how any rational person could use this game as an example though. The Jets/Ravens playoff fiascos of recent years are far better evidence to that argument in my opinion.
