Since many here apparently do NOT read the front page of the website on a daily basis,  I thought I'd like up a couple of stories about what to expect at the Combine which starts tomorrow....      First up, a Day by Day summary of what to look for....

    https://www.colts.com/news/nfl-scouting-combine-2020-colts-preview-draft

Next Up, a Positional breakdown of players currently on our roster,  and players that CB has acquired in any form...   draft, free agent,  etc.

It covers all possible aspects and gives you an idea of the type of player Ballard and his scouts are looking for.   Height, Weight, Speed,  Strength,  Length,  Jumping,  etc, etc.

Remember,  beyond physical testing,  the Combine is important because of things that we likely won't hear about.   Job interviews,  medical testing,  psycological testing.     Some of these things may leak out over time,   but we likely won't learn about them in real time.    And many of these things involve aspects that Ballard and company care about.    Namely Character.     Annually, we likely have the smallest Big Board of players we are willing to draft.   Many talented kids we bypass because of other flaws and red flags in their profile that we may never know about.

These two stories are on the front page of the website.    I did not see them discussed anywhere.    If I'm wrong,  (and I may be)  then my apologies...

Do they ever show our big board after the draft ?

I disagree. You can't coach any QB to be able to throw for so many yards, but you can coach someone who is willing to listen, to make better decisions. IMO if you put him on a team with a good OL and complimentary rushing game, a good coach/scheme might be able to cut down on his INTs. And I think a coach out there would be willing to give it a try. And all the FA ranks list him higher than Teddy lol

And he is still probably a better prospect than any qb in this draft class .

0 "sacks" allowed or getting bulldozed into your quartback's ankle and knee and forcing him to miss 1 week and play with a bum knee in a knee brace for the rest of the year....

Fresh Prince says, "What's the difference?"

Take the a shot to the face like Nelson did on that play 99.99999 percent of the population would be on there rear.

Honestly, I believe the vast majority on this forum thought Brissett was better than Tannehill before the season. That number was probably around 100% after the first half of the season. Brissett fell off the map the second half, and Reich didn't seem to make any adjustments to the adjustments made to Brissett. Brissett is probably just bad, but Vrabel turned Tannehill into a solid QB during the regular season, Reich didn't do anything with Brissett after teams adjusted to him.

What do you adjust when your Qb misses wide open recievers or just doesnt see them .

Funny the colts local media is going around saying if they can’t get one of the top 2 QB there is no other QB worthy of a first round pick. This town has really been spoiled with having their last two QB were number one picks.. They are going around saying no other QB is worthy outside the top 2 picks.

Not really weak class after Burrow and Tua imo who else do you have with a first round grade .

  6. I dont think its a pick that would have been made if Luck wasnt in the long term plan .

There was a clear plan for our offense with Hilton and Cambell taking the top off Funch and Ebron fiesting in the middle . Would have been a dynamic explosive combo . Luck has a rare skill set and a the offense was being designed to take full advantage of it .

Not in any way that matters to a QB

We had a WAY better offensive line, a WAY better rushing attack, WAY better TEs (seriously, I'd take either Doyle or Ebron over anyone NE started at TE this year).  Brady started with an incredible receiving unit but that got scattered to the winds even before ours did.

The offensive line woes alone make this comparison imperfect IMHO.  Not only did they lose their first string centerman and have to play a backup C all year, but they had Marshall Newhouse inflicted on them at guard until another injured OL, Isaiah Wynn, got back on the field.  That's going to hurt any QBs numbers.

That and even with those setbacks they still went 12-4, so I mean, take that QBR and put it in context.

Context is Brady has passed his prime another year he will most likely be worse than Brissett .

  8. Aftet Luck retired I had little expectations for this season then came a hot start . My expecations grew everything was looking good then it all fell apart . So all in all I am somewhat disappointed but very much look foward the colts future . I believe we have a great core of young talent a few more pieces and a decent QB will be back in the playoffs .

I wouldn't put all of blame on JB play but it is apparent that he is at best an average QB. He is not going to win games on his passing ability. We had no receivers all season. our TE play is not great. Doyle is not a vertical receiving threat. He is a possession type receiver. We have a good OL for running the ball. However the pass blocking has not been great. Not sure if that is on the line or JB's tendency to hold onto ball too long.

Our O line was at the top in time to pass ... Pass blocking has been great its a QB holding the ball to long.
