  1. I'm not really willing to say anything definitive to either end. I just feel the logic of BpG's statements to be quite sound.

Mathis lost his best number booster, playing opposite of Freeney. There should be some offset between the position change and the loss of Freeney. I wouldn't expect him to pound out a very near record season due to the 3-4 scheme.

Just because you wouldn't expect it doesn't mean it couldn't happen.  I mean would most people expect Reggie Wayne to be 36 and coming back from an ACL tear to look like his old self?

  2. Sources?? Where did you hear all this inside info? On the appeal, Mathis and his doc gave them their whole entire medical records. If you are going to make such claims, I want it backed up by more than rumors. It's a FACT that Mathis opened the entire medical records to the NFL...and they didn't buy It....and as a father who a year ago was offered it as a drug to "help things" I can attest to it. We have a 2 month old son to prove it.

I 2nd this I was told by my doctor to use clomid to "help things" and now I am the father of a 6 week old girl. I was also asked before hand if multiple childen would be ok because clomid would increase the possiblity by a lot. Not saying Mathis isn't guilty of anything or that he shouldn't have known better but I am saying that clomid can be and is used by men and it does help.

  3. Cant they sign him at any time? what time tommarow can free agents talk to other teams? its not midnight tonight is it?

Also I bet a deal gets done at 6am ish on Sat. The Colts wold have tagged him if they thought he would not sign. At the very least if they expected to let him see what was out there they would have used the Transition Tag..

I believe its 4 PM Sat to start talking and 4 PM on Tues to start signing.

  4. I saw Pat kicking FGS at training camp and he has the leg for it for sure and when he has no pressure he nails them. When they start doing it in more of a game type situation though from what I remember he seemed to have a more difficult time with it. Not to mention AV is 1 of the best kickers ever (probably HOFer) which is saying a lot as there are only 3 other kickers in the HOF. As long as AV still has it IMO he should still be handing our kicking duties. You don' just not use a HOF effective kicker.

  5. I find this part of the article interesting

"Step two is crafting a short- and medium-term strategy for fixing the wide receiver corps. T.Y. Hilton's effectiveness dramatically declined when Reggie Wayne went out with a season-ending injury"

While I don't think Hilton wasn't as effective as he should have been I don't think it was just because Reggie Wayne went out. Hilton was inconsistent at times for sure but in the end he got 2 less TDs than last year but he was able to hit the 1000 yard mark this year. While I won't deny that I think we could use a WR I think saying Hitlon is 1 of the reasons that we need another WR is way off. I think TY will at least hit 1000 yards again this year if he still gets the targets and he is not a good reason IMO to say that the Colts need to pickup a WR. The Colts may need a WR but despite what BR says I don't believe TY should be a reason.

Receiving Stats   SEASON TEAM GP REC TGTS YDS AVG LNG TD FD FUM LST 2012

    15 50 91 861 17.2 70 7 30 0 0 2013

Gah these charts never paste right.  Should say he had 50 REC, 861 YDS, and 7 TDS in 2012 and this last year (2013) he had 81 REC, 1083 YDS and 5 TDs.

  6. I actually dont figure Verner would hit FA, and if he did, i really dont think we would make a concerted effort to bring him in here.  Not until we shore up our other FA's of our own and shore up the larger problem areas before addressing CB.

I have a feeling that we won't pickup any bigger name CBs in FA. I hope I am wrong about this feeling though because when Toler was healthy he looked good but he has had a lot of hard times staying healthy throughout his career.

  7. Downloaded the bleacher app.. Pretty cool. Thanks guys!

Does the app notify you of breaking news and updates?

imo teamstream and rotoworld are all you need. I also check other sources as well mainly Indy sports writers twitter pages.  In the end though if you had just the bleacher report team stream app and the rotoworld NFL app you would have what you need.

  8. Congrats to everyone that posted about their children in here.

We had our first child in Oct of 2012 and you know he had a bunch of Colt's gear ready for him lol

Yep I got more Colts stuff for my baby to be this past Christmas than I did. Now that we know the baby is a girl I am sure we will be getting even more Colts gear that is for girls.

  9. IMG_3241sm_zpsf1121804.jpg

Here's my little Colts fan, celebrating his 1st B-day a couple weeks ago (shirt says "The Birthday Boy").  Sorry no Colts gear.  He has outgrown everything (future OL?), and I'm not going to buy new until closer to next season.  His Luck jersey was one of his favorites, but he was starting to look like a stuffed sausage in it.

So will he be getting another Luck jersey when the season starts?

  10. Isabella Marie is a pretty name!  Our baby will have to be a Colts cheerleader as well.  Lilly Paige was measured out to be a week older than the docs previously thought, so her new due date is July 13.  Looking forward to July, man.  Should be a crazy month for the colts fan base.

Yep a few weeks after the due date when she is supposed to be born i will be at Colts training camp. :) LOL

  11. Ok here is the update. Looks like this Colts fan will have to be a Colts cheerleader and not a player. Isabella Marie you don't know what you are in for. You're daddy is a Colts freak and hopefully you are crazy about the Colts as well. What are the updates for all the new daddies or daddies to be?

  12. Mostly Harbuagh and I'd say at that point in his career he was as good a passer as Luck is now.

So let's look at it with a comparable QB then.  Reggie Wayne had 9 games of 52 yards or less his 2nd year in the league.  He turned into a pretty good #1 WR.

Will TY turn into a #1, I don't know, personally I think he has the skills, hands and work ethic to become one. But whether or not he does, your criteria for which you base your conclusion is flawed.

I agree. Yes his route running could be better and he drops some that he should catch. If he starts catching those and running better routes which are both very correctable I think he could for sure be our # 1. After last year I thought it was just wishful thinking after this year I think in a year or 2 TY can be our # 1 and maybe even our Harrison 2.0.

  13. Another case where perceptions does not match reality

Looks like he ended the season pretty strong.  Also had the highest avg and net avg in the playoffs.

Okay this looked a lot better when I first pasted it.  Go here for a more easily readable format and if you want to base your opinion on fact rather than perception.

Here is another nice stat that I think everyone overlooks. It is easy to say that he is a good tackler but he has 18 solo tackles in 5 years.  http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/12689/pat-mcafee.  Where a guy like Shane Lechler who I think has had a pretty good career as a punter has 17 solo tackles in 14 yearshttp://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/2273/shane-lechler. Most of the tackles Mcafee makes are tackles that save the TD. I can't could find the stat on how many of those TDs he was the last guy to beat but I would assume it was a lot., So that means that almost 18 TDs were prevented by Mcafee single handedly. That is 126 quick points that Mcafee prevented on top of his good punting inside the 20 yard line. I also found this and even though its BR and all to be ranked #1 punter in the league on any list is impressive http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1444318-br-nfl-1000-punters#articles/1444318-br-nfl-1000-punters/page/33. Mcafee is a good punter and on top of that I know when everyone else on ST gets beat that 9 times out of 10 Mcafee is gonna stop the guy if not flat lay him out. I say we pay the man because he has so much more value than a lot of punters because he is a good punter and so much more.

  14. Levitre and Vasquez might have put us in the super bowl with this squad. Not sure we could have afforded them though. Hopefully this year we get some veteran guards.

Both no I doubt we could have got both without spending too much money that could be used on other positions. Think we could have got 1 though pretty sure they weren't even signed for as much as people were originally thinking.
