What about this, they've both been around for 2 years but only one of them has went on IR for a season. I think that gives Fleener an edge.

Here's my thought on getting someone to eventually take Mathis's place. We spent a first round pick on someone to eventually take Freeney's place, and when it came time for him to take over we shipped him off to Buffalo. I know its a different GM but Irsay's still here and he had to have some say in the matter.

It will help him a lot when Luck stops focusing on 1 receiver.

I like and would like him to stay also. The only problem is Hunter Smith. He also was a good punter, and fairly athletic, who got shipped out cause he wanted more money than we were willing to pay. If he hadn't then Pat probably wouldn't be here.

I would rather reserve judgement until after the whole story comes out. If it's all true and Incognito is crazy than not only do I not want him on this team, I don't think he deserves to play in the NFL and make millions of dollars. If Martin is wrong than he needs to take some more time to get his head straight before he considers a comeback. JMO

I think if that whole line doesn't improve a lot this year you have to consider taking drastic steps, like a whole new line.

In fairness, Freeman is a game changing leader.
Don't get me wrong. I like Freeman and think he is a very good player, but he was basically invisible for the New England game. I don't see him being the leader of the defense.

I personally think that is our biggest need, between that and OLine. Freeman is good but I think we need a game changing leader in that spot.

Im not saying we will, but that's the point of the topic. Guys we could have drafted that we could go after as free agents. Of course you could probably look at almost all free agents like that.

His point isn't that we missed out on him. It's that he's going to be a FA and we now have a chance to go after him.
Personally, I'd rather go after a FA center, like Mack. But this guy is a great player too.
There is also a chance we can go after MJD.
