Barry - I have Direct (primarily to see the Colts with the NFL package) and have internet/telephone through Verizon. Directv does have some kind of internet but the only time I priced it it was too much money for subpar service. Satelite coming down, but phone line going up. You obviously can't transmit TO a satelite without millions of dollars worth of equipment.

The weather disturbances can be VERY irritating, but I'd still recommend them. Just try to put the dish in an area where you can clean snow off or a blizzard will shut you down completely.

I feel the newest Directv equipment handles storms better than in the past. MAC is absolutely correct on snows and especially ice. Good Luck Barry. I have had DTV since the first dish living in the 'boonies' like I do.
