Yeah Brent, I learned it the hard way. My dish is on the roof and all I can do is stare at it wistfully while waiting for the snow to melt (perhaps hoping that my red hot glare would help). We lost service for a few days on one occasion. But "fortunately" the thing pivoted downwards on it's mount a few years ago and we've had much less accumulation since while still getting a good signal.

Now if I could just get past my concern that a sporadic ceiling leak might be...

related to the mounting holes.

Yes, I recommend them, but do NOT put the dish on the roof.

Good point MAC. I was told last summer when I moved here and a new dish was provided the they would not mount on roofs anymore. They 'said' in Indiana they no longer mount on decks either. Easy for the snow....still have the ice. Bad news...when I head back north...I am back to cable. I may have my schedule clear up...and grow a scraggly beard
