It would first be necessary to "know" what kind of system we plan to instill in the future. If Chud is going to make our TEs and RBs pass catchers more than blockers, then it is worth looking at. Plus, we need to know if quick hitters are going to be called more often as well.

If our OL is still a question mark, and/or Luck doesn't get rid of the ball quick enough and/or the offensive play calling doesn't call for quick hitters, it wouldn't matter how many scat back pass catchers you draft or value you gain from late round gems. If you can't use them well enough, no point in having them.

I am hoping that Grigson was just really bad at setting a cohesive vision.  we have a lot of chiefs in our tent and I think maybe they all have their own vision of what works.  I am hopeful that Ballard can set them all on one straight path and things will really start clicking.

We have a great OC, OL,  and QB coach all with tons of experience...  and a whole bunch of other coaches with TONs of potential.  they just need to come together with a solid, firm vision.

  3. I just don't know if Brady would be successful if you put him on another team or with a different coach.  My argument is that without him they still seem to succeed.  They went 3-1 with Garapollo and went 11-5 with M.Cassel.  If it was all Brady the drop off would have been much greater.  Its not like Cassel was that successful for other teams.  He hasn't been an 11-5 qb since.

I would say that, even though I really hate the guy, Belichick should be in the GOAT conversation not Brady.  He sees Bradys true strengths and makes sure they shine against ever other teams weaknesses.  But he is able to do it with his other QBs too... so I would say its more on Belichick than Brady.  it will be interesting to see how successful this team is when one of the two retire.

Been asking for oline since year 1. Draft oline, and he waits until year 5 to draft a competent olinman. Who in their right minds resigns a GM who wastes so many early picks on players we don't even need. Most of those players are reaches.

You know now when we traded our first round pick for TRich, NO ONE SAW IT COMING! Because you know, while having a top RB is nice, it wasn't needed. We barely needed a RB if my memory serves me correctly.

This is the same thing that has happened with drafting Dorsett. I'm sure he's got some skill. But he just isn't a first round pick but since he was drafted there, the expectations come with it. I'm sure he's feeling the hate of the fans much like all the players probably are.

Werner started 16 times in 3 years.

And then you have Andrew Luck 1st round no brainer,

Kelly a 1st round center (shouldn't need to be a 1st) who he didn't think we needed until it was obvious by injury of Andrew Luck.

What will be drafted in 2017? He has shown that unless they are of an extremely obvious talent of need, then he won't be drafting that position... maybe we should draft a new TE to replace the failed Dwayne Allen project.

Its too bad jim irsay doesn't realize that good ole Grigson Has failed in the first round for 3 of 5 years, and the other 2 were as obvious a talent as you can get. Both being most pro ready at their respective positions than anyone else! So in all honesty it's so obvious, he's really failed in the first round for 5 straight years.

If you know the answers before the quiz is over, it's not much of a challenge is it...? (Luck and Kelly picks)

Not just the First round...  the first three rounds...  in his time here he has picked only 4 defensive players in the first 3 rounds...  only two are still on the team, Anderson and Green.

In fact I think he has issues picking Defensive players in the draft. Has only picked 15 defensive players out of the 38 total picks (39.5%...  and only 6 of these are still on the team that's 40% of the 39.5%... a whopping 15.75% hit rate!).   Hes done slightly better on offense with a 32% hit rate. Ten Off. players picked in the first 3 rounds and only one not on the team anymore (Fleener)

So he's only hit on 47% of his total draft picks... I think we definitely need some one who can evaluate star defensive players better.

  5. In terms of the Bye, rehab from injuries are always a good reason to celebrate.  This year I feel like there is another good reason to celebrate... decent Coaching/game scheming...

I have to wonder if the players were starting to doubt the coaching as much as we were on this forum.  I feel like the win last night was much better schemed, and with that they have a positive foundation to build on this Bye.  With a bunch of must win games ahead of us, faith in your leadership needs to be at an all time high.

  6. because of Grigson...

somebody had to say it ;)

In reality I feel like there is football every day and it has become too much. It used to be Sundays... all day sunday, but just sunday.  I personally HATE the thursday/Monday night games.  Its probably all right if you are on the west coast, but getting up for work here on the east coast is miserable the next day.  I feel like the saturation is the problem, just too much of a good thing.

So my fix? go back to just Sundays with just a couple prime time during the week games as the playoffs loom... Then, Extend the year to 18 games, get rid of the useless preseason games (do televised scrimmages for all I care, preseason is bunk), increase the roster size (to mitigate injury problems) and add in an additional bye week... last but not least, light up the penalties on holds and interference calls...  So tired of seeing great plays getting called back.

I'm not a quarterback coach and I don't know one so I'd like to ask a question here. Why does it seem that Andrew often releases the ball so low that it hits the outstretched arm of a defender being blocked? It seems to happen 2-3 times a game. I realize his lineman are often pushed right back into him, but is there something about his release point? At 6'4'', I wouldn't think deflections would be a problem for him.

Its not so much that he throws it too low...  he doesn't pump fake. So linemen tend to know when to get their hands up.

  8. I don't know, I feel like we could be the reverse of the 2012 Ravens...  If you remember they lost 4 of their last 5 games, squeaked into the play-offs with a 10-6 record...  and then caught on fire and won the SB. Maybe Mathis needs to light the fire by announcing his retirement like ray lewis did. :)

We are only a few points away from being 5-1 at the moment and while 'being close' really only counts in horseshoes, it does give a short term reason to still be positive. yes we are 2-4...  but there is still the possibility to go 8-2 or better in the last 10 games, be on fire at the end of the season, and remind all the haters that we are the powerhouse in this terrible AFC South.
