Yep, cuz Ballard has 3 2nd picks invested on the D-line, and the pass rush still is bottom league.

Turay’s scout report mirrors his NFL career thus far IMO.

The Patriots, Ravens and Seahawks tend to find these types in middle rounds “depth players” not high selections.

Maybe, Turay and others pan out, but the pass rush is still an issue.

If, your okay with drafting a player high, like Turay to consistently miss games and produce a couple sacks a year who plays maybe 50% of the snaps, then so be it. I guess I’m just different and value a 2nd Rd guy more than others.

In all fairness, he only got to play 4 games last year and he played relatively well. Can't help that he was injured. He is showing an ability to live up to his 52nd draft position.

I still think 10 sacks may be a little aggressive since he isn't a 3 down player. I'd personally say 6-8 with a high pressure rate would be a successful season.

"He was beginning to really flash as a situational pass rusher this season — such as on this play, where he throws Cam Erving into Patrick Mahomes — before an early injury derailed his sophomore campaign. Across the first five weeks of the season, Turay's 91.0 pass-rushing grade ranked second among all qualifying edge defenders, and his 22.9% pressure rate ranked second to only Nick Bosa"

"A neck injury in Week 2 limited Turay to just four games in the first five weeks of the season, but he was able to total five tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, five quarterback hits and eight hurries in that time.

For his amount of playing time in 2019 (81 snaps), he was tied with T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers for the best PFF grade among any edge defender in the NFL (91.3), and his pass-rush grade of 91.0 trailed only Watt and the Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett. Turay stood alone atop the Pass Rushing Productivity category, his 13.1 ranking handily above the next-best player's 10.6.

Turay was also no slouch when it came to the run game either, as his 72.1 in run defense was 36th and his tackling grade of 74.8 was 14th."

What is your bar for a high draft pick going on year three? (DE)

Are you satisfied with a Turay just being depth player?

Depth player? You'd be disappointed with less than 10 sacks? You realize that none of Von Miller, Frank Clark, Vic Beasley, Khalil Mack, Bruce Irvin, JPP, Nick Bosa, or Harold Landry had 10 sacks last year?

I think we can all agree the 2019 season was a season of bad Luck and bad news. Luck retiring obviously, the continuous injuries issues especially to the pass catchers, and now the abrupt rumors of a possible Anthony Costanzo trade.

I would hope those bad fortunes will turn around this offseason into the 2020 season. That being said, we need Costanzo to make up his mind before the combine, so Colts front office, coaches, and scouts can plan accordingly for their LT position going forward. I do wonder why he is taking so long to make his decision. Losing him would be devastating for this team and would further my belief that this team has had to overcome more than the average NFL team. I hate the cards Ballard has been dealt.

I must have missed something. What trade rumors?

We do not have receivers who can gain separation and get downfield.  Hilton is the lone receiver right now and tonight he was not a factor

While this is partially true, Jacoby takes too long to get through his progression. He has zero ability to throw the receivers open. He doesn't hit them out of their break.

  5. Grover Stewart's Defensive Snap Counts have been in the 40s the last two games. They've gone bigger next to Autry. Hunt must have dropped back to semi-obvious passing downs.

Personally, I believe he is being used as he should be. It's no knock on him, just situational based on strengths.

  6. Vinny isn't what he used to be, but let's be real....kickers apparently aren't easy to come by. He had a bad game, no doubt. All players have bad games, but kickers are on an island.

Yeah, he missed some kicks last year. He still has range. I think he has earned the right to a bad game.

Colts showed a lot of resolve tonight. Incredibly gutsy run call for the 2 Pt. Conv. I thought Jacoby manage the game extremely well. It was a great team effort.

    Let's rally around Adam.

You try to tackle him.   Williams makes a quick move and you slide right off him.   He avades the tackle.   Oily hips.    Best I can come up with.

He is very compact in his movement and his change of direction is incredibly abrupt. Slides right on through a crease.

Im not gonna look it up .... anyone know how much different they are in size?   He looks like he has more power running than Hines to me...

I like the signing.  He will be the backup in a very useful position for the Colts.   I like the depth here.

I wouldn't get too attached. He is practice depth. Would be a solid practice squad stash.

Someone that was going to make this team is now going to not make it due to having to carry three QB. It’s going to be harder to keep a sixth receiver. A guy like fountain or pascal may end up on the outside looking in.

    what is your guess!

There is actually a worse scenario. If Luck has to miss the first game, we have to sign a 4th QB. Chad Kelly is suspended for the first two games. If Luck is out, that only leaves Jacoby.

Having Hilton vs. not having him is a huge advantage. However, some is going to have to give the Colts what Inman gave them. He was unbelievably clutch on 3rd IIRC.

Inman was a solid possession receiver for us. I was disappointed to see him go.

I'm excited to see what they do with Funchess. We have some size running routes this year. The way we utilize or TEs paired with what we potentially have on the outside.....we should be a matchup nightmare for most teams.

TY is absolutely an advantage as long as you have at least a reliable second option. He makes the field bigger for other receivers. Still on those other receivers to make the plays when they

    need to be made.

Cheers to what could be a really fun season!

All these young guys with long arms need to perfect the stab and swipe....that particular move was likely created by a player with ling arms that could keep tackles off of them!

Ah yes, the ling arm......a rare, but sought after trait. :headspin:

I don't mind it, but it does set this precedent, which I'm not a huge fan of. We had him under control for two more seasons, we could have waited.

I haven't looked up the numbers and I'm just thinking outside the box on here. I wonder if this is one method Ballard will use to get us to the cap floor.

Regardless, it's not like we are up against the cap. I do get the issue with setting that precedent. I would consider him a little different since he was an UDFA. He was making relative pennies and is teetering on the Pro Bowl. May as well lock him up before that first Pro Bowl is on his resume.

On the two years, wouldn't it really only affect one year of those two years? It's an extension, so won't it tag on the back of his current contract, only negating the RFA year?

I loved Pat Beach.   He lived above my grandma in an apartment complex in Carmel.   Super cool guy.    He would come fish with me behind their building

That's cool. Terrence Wilkins live in the apartment above my mom. I was a sophomore in high school at the time. He always called me "little man". I was 6'4", 200 back then....towered over him, lol.
