  1. I thought this was who we thought is going to be the worst team this season....not who played poorly the first weekend of the season?

I'm just wondering if you're being completely arbitrary or if you are thinking about why these teams will be bad that you listed? For instance, why will be that bad again this year, do teams normally get the top draft pick in back to back year? (They don't)

  2. 1. Carolina

    2.Cinci

    3. Seattle

    4. Indy

    5. Jacksonville

I think Hightower will give Washington a respectable rushing game and should be around .500

How could you say that Jacksonville looked worse than Tennessee? Or that Cincy looked worse than the Browns? That is fairly silly to me.

  3. Chargers going to the show would be exciting...But do you really think they can make it? I mean they're like the cursed playoff team. They're like the Suns of the NFL. They can make it every year and never win it. That'd be a heck of a shootout though.

Chargers might be seen as under achievers but I think that they have the tools to get the whole thing done this year as long as their special teams unit is not godawful like it was last year.

  4. I only have 2 more posts until tomorrow, so I can't go back & forth with you, unfortunately. If McCown hadn't gotten hurt last year, he very well could have taken Garrard's job. Week 2 against the Chargers, Garrard threw 4 picks & got benched. McCown came in, moved the ball, scored some points & then blew out his knee so Garrard had to come back in. Mike Sims-Walker wasn't that great. "your defense is and will always be bad" just goes to show that you don't know what you're talking about. 4 or 5 years ago, the Jags had a top defense. They're gonna build it back up. They got old & slow, now they're younger & faster. Will always be bad, huh? We'll see. We had the 3rd best rushing attack in the NFL last season, but our O-line is mediocre? Get back to me when you get a clue.

So Luke McCown has a good drive last year and he's the best option for the Jags? Well color me converted.

  5. NO@GB - SB champs at home, I think Rogers puts on a show.

CIN@CLE - I think McCoy will lead an improved Browns team, but they wouldn't need McCoy to beat the bad news Bengals

IND@HOU - In Houston and with no Manning. Houston could screw this up, but I wouldn't bet on it right now.

TEN@JAC - Meh. I don't think having McCown or Gabbert start here is going to do much for the Jags.

BUF@KC - KC is banged up, and while this is an obvious reach pick, I think it could happen.

ATL@CHI - Cutler gonna get sacked a bunch.

DET@TB - Home team mostly and I think Josh Freeman is a pretty good QB.

    PHI@STL - This is a gimmie.

NYG@WAS - Rex "The Sex Cannon" Grossman.

CAR@ARI - Home team. The Panthers have a shot though if they stick to the run and commit Newton to just not make a lot of mistakes.

SEA@SF - Toilet Bowl. Possible preview to who gets Andrew Luck

MIN@SD - Like Phillip Rivers to put up some STATS.

DAL@NYJ - Tough pick but I like the Jets at home being a more established team

NE@MIA - I think the Dolphins are going to be Real Bad.

OAK@DEN - Raiders SHOULD run it all over Denver.

PIT@BAL - I honestly think the Ravens offense is going to be very mediocre this year if even that.

  6. AFC North: Steelers, Browns, Ravens

    AFC East: Pats

    AFC South: Texans

    AFC West: Chargers

    NFC North: Packers, Lions

    NFC East: Eagles

    NFC South: Bucs, Saints

    NFC West: Rams

    AFCCG: Chargers over the Steelers

    NFCCG: Packers over the Eagles

    SB: Chargers over Packers

Not going to do awards because the media is the one who nominates most of the awards and it is common knowledge that most of the football writers are sporting shoe sized IQ's.

Edit: changed preds based on new Manning news.

  7. I think Peyton will be throwing to his side testing him early and often in our week 1 match-up. can't wait.

Peyton is going to abuse the middle of the field all game long if he's playing. Also, inside running should be on the menu for your guys as well.

  8. I will post my breakdown of what I saw of WIlliams in his first action against the Jets. When I say SOLB, I am referring to the spot on the defense where he will be challenging the right side of the Jets O-line. Take it for what it's worth:

1st - 10: Mario Lined up at SOLB Watt LDE. 3 step drop Mario bullying RT into backfield, Watt pushing his man backwards as well.

    2nd - 5 : Run play to Smith/Barwin side

1st - 10: (ESPN Coverage sucks BTW, this play was already snapped when the actual play came back into view on the tv but. Watt looks like he's pushing his man really far into the pocket and Mario was working on the same side as Smith. Barwin was covering RB. Screen pass to RB, pickup of 5.

2nd - 5 : Watt beat his man good almost batted the ball middle coverage was nowhere. Mario got stonewalled on his bull rush. 3 step drop again for sanchez

1st - 10: Run towards Mario/Watt side but both those players basically held em in check while Sharpton cleaned up. No gain

2nd - 9 : 3 step drop again for Sanchez. Mario got cut by Fergesun (straight to the knee), Smith got kind of run over to where Mario fell and was ineffective, Barwin didn't make it in enough time before he got the throw off.

3rd - 6 : 4 down lineman. Barwin, Smith, Watt, Mario, Adibi close to the line. They rushed 5 (Adibi extra rusher) Mario went in on a stunt and basically pressure from all sides, Sanchez had no choice.

    FG

    Grand Total: 7 snaps

    next possession

1st - 10: Mario and Barwin switch sides so that Mario is over Smith and Barwin is over Watt. Barwin doesn't quite make it to his position in time before ball is snapped. Bootleg, everybody bites, Sanchez thorws an easy pass that is dropped.

2nd - 10: Barwin on the weakside quite a bit, lot of ILBs bunched up in the middle Mario outside technique. 3 step drop nobody had a shot to get near Sanchez before the throw. Completed

1st - 10: 1 Step out route throw to Jason Allen. One of the DB's had okay coverage and got him down without much YAC. Nothing the DLine could do

2nd - 5 : Infamous draw play that Mario Williams was responsible for as dubbed by ESPN. Suffice to say, I don't think Mario is the one you blame there, ILB's had a shot on him free for a short gain and didn't make the opportunity. Mitchell didn't

    do so hot either

1st - 10: Watt gets huge pressure up the middle by beating his man badly, and then Earl Mitchell cleans up. RT handled Mario kept him out of the play.

2nd - 11: Watt and Mario working a lot to gether but it's on the left end. Run towards Barwin/Smith side, offensive penalty repeat down.

2nd - 20: Draw play to Barwin/Smith side. Cleaned up well.

3rd - 13: 4 Down lineman Barwin, Smith, Watt, Mario. Nickel packge. A. Smith encroachment.

3rd - 8 : Tomlinson run, right at Barwin, only good for 3. Punt

    Grand Total 9 snaps

Overall I'm not as displeased with Mario's performance as I thought before. Jets just took a lot of 3 step drops and some screens and smokes. Get a better overall thought with Saints.

  9. A 3-4 is only as good as the players in the scheme. I don't think Peyton has ever had a problem with sub par teams that run the 3-4 (49'ers and Cardinals immediately come to mind). The real question here is whether Mario Williams is going to be the premiere pass rush artist that we hope he can be. The Texans defense is only going to be good as the pressure it can apply to a QB, and I think any team with a running back should be testing the middle rush defense as the NT is not a big guy at all.

heck, the Texans did just fine getting Manning dirty in the first week last year and he still passed for like 400,000 yards. It's just that we could sustain drives with our run game to win that game.

  10. Please tell me where you heard about this growing probability of Manning not being ready by week # 1.

That was a question I was asking (Seeing how the direct quote was "Is the probability of Manning being out week 1 growing") not something that I had heard rumor about. I know Manning has had to make due with new LT's on opening week before, sometimes with less than stellar results in terms of him getting his jersey dirty.

  11. Lots of injuries all around in camp but I think that since the Texans RB corps behind Foster is more questionable, they don't mind sitting him out extra days to rest a hamstring. A lot of players have it nag throughout the year because they never give it the proper rest. I doubt Foster is not taking carries week 1 vs Indy.

  12. For week 1? Is the probability of Manning not being under center week 1 growing larger and they want to let the new guys get used to the NFL while he's out, or are they just going to make Peyton deal with having a rookie as an LT for the first few weeks?

  13. I am guardedly optimistic about the move because Mario more looks the part (A slimmer looking 285) and he's always had the speed and athleticism. The question is how much of the transition comes naturally and how much he has to dedicate lots of work of the flaws from his new spot.

NT is a position that scares me much much more than Mario at OLB.

  14. They Can Win It Any Year You Don't Have To Be All That On Paper To Win The Division Seahawks ...

But Overall I Think The Mario Move To Linebacker Is Going To Pan Out As Good & Bad He Will Help In Pass Coverage But They Will Lose Pass Rush

    Does That Make Sense lol

Honestly I think you have it backwards a bit. I think their pass rush is going to be more formidable, but from the LB spot I think the coverage is going to be much weaker. Who knows though.
