  1. Three weeks ago, Luck was THE guy that all NFL and college talking heads were discussing. Now he has had two pedestrian weeks while Barkley and RG3 have soared up the draft boards.

If Luck were to finish out the season with a pedestrian couple of games and the other quarterbacks continued to impress, do we pretty much HAVE to take him first overall?

I am thinking he will be ours, regardless, but the value of that pick might really be dropping with him having some very ordinary performances as of late. He is still the best qb... but hasn't appeared to be superman. You might not have any option but to take him now. Thoughts?

  2. A. The giant font is difficult to read. post etiquitte

    B. I just don't see any purpose to having Manning play. The most important thing for him, football or not, is to properly heal. The coaching staff knows that and Manning knows that. With the team being in the driver's seat for the most important draft position of the past decade, they will NEVER let Manning touch the field on Sundays if he isn't absolutely 100 percent healed.

The long term future of the franchise + the long term future of Peyton's health are more important that Peyton's desire to play

Peyton has been sat before when he wanted to play. He is ONLY staying off of IR so that he can test out his arm during practice

  3. Andrew luck will NOT sit behind anyone i promise you that. No numero uno draft pick sits behind anyone. So everyone needs to put that theory to rest!

I think you will find yourself to be incorrect in about 9 months. I don't know that I have an opinion of what would be right, but I have a feeling that Luck will be learnging from Manning in 2012/2013

  4. Our offense has a bit of a running game but NO passing game. Defend short passes, and we may rattle off 100 yards rushing but that won't matter

Our defense cannot hold off a guy like Cam who will have a big big game. This, IMO is not a very winnable game. The panthers, mostly, have been losing to mature, well rounded teams that have a true identity. We are not really a team with an identity, just an assortment of players without a leader. This is going to be bad, IMO

  5. Out of curiosity, I jsut checked MJD's stats against us. Going back to 2006, when he crushed us (the one most of us remember) today's game was one of our worse in defending the run against MJD. Not saying we did a horrific job, but for perspective, this was one of our less successful games in stopping MJD

  6. Fish +1

I think we take Luck, if we don't take luck, I DO NOT want us spending a decnet pick (anything earlier that the 5th round) on a QB. We are then only drafting a backup, and I would much rather we find someone else to sit behind peyton, or just keep painter. We will not win games with any backup qb's. Use our draft to get peyton's successor or use it to give him talent to win games.

  7. I absolutely believe Manning is the reason for this record. This team has more talent than it has in the past couple of years. Those years we won 10+ games. This coaching staff truly does need some huge makeovers. I thin it is time to get an agressive D coordinator. OR get a head coach with that kind of background. I would like to consider someone from the Ravens, if not, get a former head coach with D experience (Fisher, Del Rio). Alot of former head coaches tend to succeed in that kind of role

  8. Yeah, I wonder how all the players on our squad this year would feel about the idea that the only way they have been winning games in the last decade was because of Manning... Oh wait... did you just say that we have lost every single game since Manning went out? And that we could very likely win 0 games with him out....

Oh... that's odd. Yeah, I think it might have had something to do with Manning and Kelly.

  9. Here is the difference.

nearly EVERY rule that has been made in the past decade has been made to help the QB. Painter is in a protected position with his skill players nearly untouchable or he gets a flag.

Painter has been learning, dissecting, and digesting this offense for three entire years with 0 pressure on him. Peyton came in and had to learn this as a 22 year old kid, and essentially create the offense we see today.

Even though Peyton threw a ton of picks and didnt get the wins, every commentator could show you that he WAS progressing and that he did have the tools. He just had to get used to the speed of the NFL and to get aquainted with his teammates. Painter has gotten worse, even though he has tons of experience, comparably, than Peyton did in 1999.

He is not showing promise. He is not showing growth. He is not showing that he belongs in this league.

He IS showing that we need someone else behind Manning next year

  10. You just listed our entire team. How can that be a bright spot?! All our OL. Our Qb. 2x rb. A wr. 2 dl. Our entire LB core. And 90% of the secondary.

0-9 and all these guys are bright spots?!

    This X 10000000000

I don't think Painter is progressing at all. He has DIGRESSED throughout this season. He had a few games where defenses weren't quite sure how we were going to attack them (aka bubble screens to Garcon). Since the defenses have adjusted he has been absolutely pathetic. The only way he is a bright spot is if he finally cuts off that ugly excuse for hair.

  11. The O line and running game seem to have been more effective this year than in years past.

The 2011 draft class, although I don't know that we have seen enough form Ijalana to make any sort of assessment. Costanzo, Carter, Nevis, Rucker have all been contributors.

This bad season could end up with some positives just in our thought processes and coaching styles. I am excited for 2012
