What about LBs? Freeney could be a disaster at OLB. Should we draft his replacement now? Or do you think Pagano will revert to the 4-3 to have an effective pass rush?
I dont believe that we will go with a complete 3-4 this year, rather have a hybrid of both, at least for this year. But Pagano has said that he plans to use Freeney like he did with Suggs and that is to basically always rush the passer and play very little coverage. I actually think Freeney's gonna do well in this position, or at least he CAN do well if he puts in the time. I've also heard that he's probably gonna have his hand in the ground a lot of the time anyway, so it wont be THAT much different for him, at least lets hope.

I'm not very knowledgable on the players coming into the draft beyond maybe the first and second round, but is this TE class very good / which ones could contribute right away besides obviously Fleener...I mean we NEED a tight end that can start right away unless management is ok with Eldridge...
-
the thing with freeney is that it is getting clearer that we are probably switching to a 3-4. we resigned robert mathis to be used as the rush end/linebacker like suggs and harrison. freeneydoesnt really fit in to that. i think we could get him for a 2nd but you get what ya get.
We can still play a 4/3-3/4 hybrid...which I'm pretty sure is what Pagano said we were going to try and do anyway...

Assuming he isn't a bust.
It's true, there is always the possibility, but just watch some tape and tell me he doesn't look amazing...I was pro-manning all the way, but I can't disagree with Irsay, especially if you look and realize how good this kid really is...not everyone is compared to Elway...

For the guy asking about Coby Fleener, just watch some of his highlights. Dude is prett good.
Anyways, Im just glad Reggie is still a colt!
Ok, he looks SICK, and by the way, so does Luck :yay:
I just don't know if thats the way to go at No. 34

The Giants are looking at TE Martellus Bennett from the Cowboys. Hopefully they sign him and Fleener lasts to the 2nd. I still hope we can trade Freeney for an early 3rd and we get a player like NT Alameda Ta'amu or Jayron Hosley with that pick.
What's with everyone wanting to trade Freeney so badly, he is an excellent player who just happened to sign with an agency thats going to help him try and restructure his deal with the Colts...I think we're forgetting how good he is people...

OL or Fleener. give Luck a familiar weapon, or protection. take your pick. either would be good.
Idk, I'm just not really buying the "familiar weapon" argument, unless he's THAT good, I'd rather address another need. He'll become familiar enough with Reggie pretty soon ;)

I'll sleep well with this news. Thank you Reggie! Glad you're still a Colt.
Agreed, great news to go to sleep to

my hope is Clark goes to the Giants, and we take Fleener with the 34th.
Everyone's talking about Fleener, is this guy really worth our 2nd round pick??? I'd much rather grab Carlson, Tamme or both and address another need with that pick...don't you think?
-
Just a thought, with all these teams achieving their WR needs in FA, like the bears, does that mean someone like a Michael Floyd drops to the second round?
-
if we sign Eddie Royal we can start talking about competing
He was signed by the Redskins I'm pretty sure

Im glad it was Wayne over Garcon.
Same, especially since Garcon was WAAAAY overpaid

I think we still draft a #2 receiver in the draft and have Collie in the slot, just my opinion...
-
It was Gabbert's first year...I think you at least give him another chance with some receivers before calling him a complete bust...
-
I think it's either Miami, the Colts, or whatever team Manning ends up at (Broncos)...I would LOVE to have him back, it would give Luck a veteran weapon who is still an elite receiver, IMO. With that said though, if he gets offered a huge contract by someone else, I'll say goodbye, but I think this would be a great addition especially since Garcon left, but at the right price...
Took me too long to write that...HE'S BACK BABY!

He's going to get traded to Jacksonville.
I can see him there for some reason, I just don't know why they would trade for him, they just drafted Gabbert...
-
The Jags, once upon a time, wanted him.
I'm not sure they still do.
Yeah, I think they'll stick it out with Gabbert...maybe Manning can teach Tebow how to throw, who knows...
-
Who's gonna want Tebow? Or would he just sit under Manning...
-
Also as much as they might be a "top rushing team" I just don't see it, maybe it's just the fact that Willis McGahee doesn't exactly make me jump out of my seat...and neither does Knowshon Moreno
-
Yeah to be honest I'd be surprised if we didn't get him
-
He's a quality TE, just as long as we don't overpay...I'd rather have Tamme if he's a lot cheaper

I posted this a few days ago.
I just got a call from a friend that lives in Stillwater OK, where he was in attendance and works security at the Oklahoma State pro day. He said that Manning arrived at the stadium and was greeted by Elway, Fox and Xanders and were then escorted into a meeting room. Shortly afterwards, Justin Blackmon was brought into said conference room and stayed for nearly 45 minutes. The doors opened and Blackmon ran down the hall back to the field with a huge smile on his face. The rest of the posse left shortly afterwards to escort Manning to their private jet heading to Denver.
He did not hear anything from anybody what was said, but one can only make a clear assumption of what was discussed in that room. Does Denver have the ability to move up to get Blackmon? Would it be like the Redskins Deal that just happened? What about a potential trade out of Tebow to move up to that spot in the draft? Blackmon is supposed to be top 5 right? Who would benefit from a Tebow trade?
If this all happens, that would be pretty awesome hearing it from here first

I think this is where he's ending up anyway
Where will this draft take us?

That being said, they will probably draft a replacement not because he'll do bad, but because he has 1 year left on his deal...who knows, maybe we pick a OLB with the 2nd pick...I dont see that out of the question at all, especially if that OLB is BPA
