I don't think this is like 2022 at all. We are playing better this year in many areas, and I also think our Coach is better. Aslong as Mustache doesn't get injured we can still win 8 or 9 games. If Sam plays, we are screwed bigtime. I have seen enough of Sam to last me a lifetime. It is like watching Tolzien or Painter play watching him - same bad vibe.

Appreciate the optimism, but I have not seen a Ballard roster that can win without a top QB, which Minshew is clearly not.  My focus will be watching the rookies development the rest of 2023.

I don't know. Just feels like this season is cursed.

I don't know, but the one thing we all were looking forward to was watching Richardson play. Now it's almost like 2022 all over again. Sadly, I admit, that I want a top 5 pick in the 2024 draft.

And someone could say, why would we. Can't we negotiate after the season?

Can't we tag him, then negotiate. He had things still to prove.

They resigned JT, so why would they risk losing their WR1 in Pittman? A poster stated the Colts view him as a WR1, and must highly believe in him.

Its more than fair to question him at this point imo.  Any GMs record would take a hit if Andrew Luck retired on them the way he did here.  Its also Cbs job to replace him and its been a long time now too

We cant make excuses forever for never finding a franchise QB.

Solid rosters can have success (division title, playoff runs) without the superstar QB, like a A. Luck was. It's been proven over and over.

Many have a hard excepting that Ballard's rosters simply over 7 years haven't been very good. A well respected member on the forum has repeated that numerous times.

The fact that they drafted Pierce in round 2 should tell you somewhat what they think of Pittman. If they wanted to replace or improve upon Pittman then they would have got a more dynamic athlete who was good enough to be a #1 and have Pitt be the #2. They did not and have not done so. I think bc they view Pitt as the #1 and fine with it.

Why haven't they locked Pittman up to a new contract, if they view him as the team''s true WR1?

I personally would invest in a high draft pick in Round 1 next year in the WR deep draft. Any WR needs TC with his QB to really gel, IMO.

That is my hope.  Drafting a skill position player (WR), that's badly needed for the offense. I might even go so far as to trade up, to ensure getting the right guy which is always a risk, but it's better than settling for players like Jeudy. We have to many of those players. I don't want to be patient for another decade.

you read one article of multiple. we will see what actually happens

I'd wager the Colts aren't buyers as usual, and it's obvious to me for a multitude of reasons.

And as for Jeudy, I can't even get excited about the guy. He's no better than Pittman or Downs.  So, I guess the article has merit, and Steve Smith opinion.

It won’t be a second rounder. I can only see it happen if it’s a fourth round or less.

Absolutely, won't be a 2nd, 3rd or 4th......   From what I've read, nobody has inquired about Jeudy, it's the other way around. Denver is a fire sale. Richard Pallo's favorite time of the season.

I can listen to the QB excuse for a teams #2 or #3 option, but Pittman has been force fed targets the last couple years, he has had ample opportunity to produce and make plays. Been pretty underwhelming.

9ypc and barely sees the end zone. Low yac/catch averages.

Receptions are great, but it's what you do with them that really matters.  Gets in the vicinity of 1000yds, but what is that? Probably going to be a guy go for 2000 this year. 1200-1500 is now needed,

he was 10th in receptions, but 25th in yards and 107th in ypc, last year. 99th in yards per target.

He creeped up to 10ypc this week for the year

In a nutshell, he doesn't take over games or impose his will on anyone.  The million dollar question is,  does Ballard pay him WR1 money in 2024. IMO the Free Agent WR market is weak, with a soon to be 31 YO,  M. Evans the best of the bunch. If, someone offers him more than the Colts, let him walk and thank him for his service.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Wayne knows him very well. Jeudy is from Florida. Of course we know Wayne has many ties in Florida

this is old and he did that out of anger bc Jeudy slammed him

Fair enough! Does Jeudy raise the bar for the Colts? I feel like we already have one on the team with Pittman.  The Colts need WR1, which Jeudy doesn't appear to be.

mobile qbs are elusive and move trying to find an open man, they dont take as many hits as a running qb who try to get yards with his legs

I think mobile and dual threat are different and often confused. P. Mahomes is a mobile QB, but he's a past first QB. Your dual threat, are QBs that strength is running and making plays for with their legs. Historically, those QBs, play well early in there career, but not very long with success. Not to mention, they don't dominate post season or SB play. JMO.

I guess if you have a good enough QB, any roster can be a playoff roster. I don't think our roster is that impressive.

The big thing we were all looking forward to was watching Richardson play, and hopefully improve as the season went on. It sucks that we won't get anymore of that.

How many years did niners  have a top pick to build that dline. Colts did not have that many top picks. Colts stayed average. Not a good comparison.

Not as many as you think. Why are you specifically talking about the Niners D-Line? That team is loaded at the skill positions and has a solid roster,  It's a big reason the Niners under Lynch,  have gone deep in post season play regularly and almost won a SB with game managers at QB.

I think it's a great comparison, because both Lynch and Ballard became GMs the same season, while taking over dumpster fires.

we wont win the next game against the best D# in 40 years, which the browns have.

Our best player is who? Nelson?

Just don´t find this colts team that good right now...:(

Your not wrong, and our hope is with a rookie QB who is out for the year and a GM who is passive. Meaning, he does little in Free Agency and typically stays put or trades back in the draft.  New vision is needed at the top IMO.

people thought New England gm/coach was the best thing since sliced bread for a long time. Well, how is that going now? There is a lot of luck involved in having success in the nfl!

There's also a time stamp, unless ownership runs the show. I don't know how much more time Ballard gets, but 7 years is enough time to field a playoff team and win a division title. I think Richardson bought Ballard more time, but 2023 is basically a red shirt year now and he's virtually a rookie again in 2024. Colts football has just been like stale bread under Ballard the past 7 seasons.  Very uninspiring football.
