  1. If he fell to 34 I would have no problem with the selection of Jeffery. He fits in to the new mold of NFL WR's, tall and athletic (ie. Megatron, Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall) and him along with Garçon and Collie going forward would give Luck or whoever our QB going forward is a good target to throw to. He did underachieve a bit at SC but I have to believe that was due to less than inspiring QB play.

However if he is available at 34, we should take Rutgers WR Mohamed Sanu over Jeffery. Sanu has everything, size, good hands, athleticism, speed to make a great WR, he reminds me a lot of a 6'2" version of Percy Harvin, in the fact that his is a very good wideout, can run the wildcat, run reverses, and is a stellar punt and kick returner. I watch a lot of Big East football and a lot of Rutgers games and I can tell you that Sanu has what it takes to be an elite wideout, he has a much higher ceiling than Jeffery IMO

  2. With some of these talking heads its all about what have you done for me lately, and Eli is having a good year and Peyton isn't even playing this year so of course this argument is going to come to fruition (sp?).

If you were to compare stats and win loss records Eli can't even stack up to Peyton, off the top of my mind I think Eli has 3 10+ win seasons. Now sure Eli could very well win another Super Bowl this year but when you have the type of defense that the Giants have its going to be tough to not win a SB, not to mention Eli has one of the best 1-2 punches at RB in the NFL. I'm not taking anything away from Eli, but he has been surrounded by a better team. Not just "weapons" (WR/TE) like Peyton had.

I would like to see how many Super Bowls P Manning could win if he was on the Giants with such a dynamic ground game and the best rush in the NFL.

  3. Chill....

There comes a time when every team has to cut ties with their marquee player...49ers w/ Joe Montana, Colts with Johnny U, Chargers with LT, Eagles with McNabb, Rams with Kurt Warner, Packers with Favre and the time will come for guys like Brady and Rodgers and Brees...and the list goes on and the time is now for Peyton.

What happens if we don't draft a QB and Peyton who is 36 and is coming off 3 neck surgeries in a year drops off significantly we will only further set our selves back.

  4. When I say I don't want to see Tressel as HC, it's not so much based on his coaching ability, it's because of Jim Tressel the person. I've never been a fan of his or Ohio State.

His offense is really bland, but the best coaches make adjustments to their schemes to fit his players and I think Tressel would do that. And with Grigson saying he wants a leader, JT is definitely a leader no doubting that.

However I must reiterate I do not like Jim Tressel the person, the man wrote a book about being honest when he lies to compliance directors, and Ohio State is by far my least favorite athletic program in all the lands and I can't bring my self to support him and I would have an awfuly hard time supporting the Colts going forward if he is indeed the choice.

  5. If he wanted to try and run his spread offense in the NFL this could be the year to try it, with Robert Griffin out there and his QB and RB at Oregon, Darron Thomas and LaMichael James declaring for the draft he could certainly have the personnel in place year 1, I just don't know how it would work, it might work year 1 but by the second year I imagine the defenses would be able to make the adjustments.

He seems like he has a good football mind and he could make adjustments to his scheme, but overall I'm just not a fan of hiring college coaches as the past results seem like they're a toss up as to whether they're successful or not

  6. Bit of a lengthy post but bear with me...

-1st off I'm not sure what the buzz is with Kirk Ferentz, I'm not a midwestern-er so maybe there's just something I don't know about him, he had some decent teams at Iowa but it seems his name is brought up every year and I just can't understand why, if we absolutely had to hire a college coach I would much rather have someone like Bob Stoops or Les Miles, although I'm not a fan of hiring college coaches to the pros

    - I don't understand why people want Jim Tressell either, again I'm not a midwestern-er and I hate Ohio State so I might be bias in that regard, but his play calling always seemed bland and I'm not sold it would in the pros, and I'm not a fan of Jim the person, he wrote a book about honesty and he lied to the NCAA and to Ohio State

    - Dom Capers? Really? He's 48-80 as an HC, I understand they were both expansion teams, but with exception of the one freak year with the Panthers his teams never really showed any improvement over his tenures, as a matter of fact I think they regressed.

    - Wade Phillips, he's a fantastic DC no one will debate that, but he had talented in both Buffalo and Dallas and could do nothing with them, and you can bring up Dallas all you want, but he had no where near that type of pressure on him in Buffalo and still had just ok teams.

-Pete Carmichael...I'm a Syracuse U football fan and we have a former Saints OC as our HC (Doug Marrone) and he has done absolutely nothing so I'm a bit leary of him in that regard, but his offense and work with Brees speaks for it self, I do know however that up until mid way through the year he had never called plays.

My personal list of candidates include....

-Mike Zimmer....and I like that idea of the package deal w/Jay Gruden

-Rob Chudzinski: He turned Derek Anderson to a pro-bowler (he might be a miracle worker) and led the development of Cam Newton who many said would be the next JaMarcus Russell and had one of the best offenses in the NFL this year.

-Hue Jackson: For some reason he's my number 1 candidate, he made Jason Campbell look like a playoff caliber QB, and crafted a decent team with really nothing but a bunch of track stars. He is a bit arrogant, but I like that in a HC, and he's a virtual opposite of Caldwell. His team did set the NFL record for penalties, but I would think the Colts have more disciplined players than the rag tag bunch in Oakland, and with a strong owner and a GM in place I can't see him wanting to make Carson Palmer like trades.

Those would be my top 3, others I wouldn't have a problem with include Jerry Grey, Mike McCoy, Todd Haley (more so as an OC) and Todd Bowles

Oh and how can I forget, Brad Childress would be a fantastic hire..........as the team's airport shuttle driver.
