  1. I think Urban has always been a good coach. He hasn't been on the NFL level yet, but his college record is amazing I think. 104-23 (.819) and 7-1 (.875) in the bowl games. He made Tebow look good in Florida.

Awwww, come on... Tebow made Tebow look good in college! No coach can make a player look better than he actually is! (sarcasm!)

  2. I just don't wanna see him die behind that O-line to prevent 0-16... I know he is better with the whole "pocket awareness" thing, but it only takes 1 shot, and he could be toast! Not worth it, in my opinion.

On the brighter side, I liked seeing him in the full "head nod" mode he goes into when talking to reporters, tossing in a few shoulder shrugs. He is handling the press conferences well!

Sorry, I'm looking for any signs of optimism I can find. I know time is short, and I will always be a true Colts fan, but Manning has been my favorite player since Tennessee, and I will miss him terribly should the Luck era begin soon...

  3. Wasn't there even more hype around both Peyton and Leaf? I can remember it was all any sports show talked about was how these two guys were most draft haves and how this and that. Did you wish failure on Peyton also when he came out?

I remember in another thread that you are almost 17. Therefore you were...5 when Manning was drafted? Must have been a cognitive youth back then to understand sports pundits...?

  4. Yes there are other QB's in the draft, but are any of them better then Luck. Also is there any defensive player in the upcoming draft more talented then Luck. I mean if Su was avaialble in this draft I would take him over Luck, because he is a franchise player, but I don't see any defensive player on that level in this draft.

Also why is it crazy to consider trading Peyton if he would bring you more in return? Isn't it the idea to improve your team long term and Peyton has what..maybe 2-3 seasons left?

As I have said other times to this "2-3" years left stuff... it is too soon to tell. Manning may be fantastic for 4-5 more years, and Luck may flame out... Too soon to tell. How about some practice reps first?

  5. Assuming that the "replacement" is Luck, I respond with the following: This offseason, its' a gamble either way, but I feel, and themanagement clearly felt, that Manning is the "safer" bet. No one owes anyone anything in the NFL. But you are making one assumption (possibly 2) that no one has the answers to yet-1) Will Manning be at least as good as he was last year for the next few years? If yes, ride him out! The team has so obviously done this to great results for like 10 years, why change now? And 2) Will Luck be the second coming of Peyton Manning? I don't know that I buy it. Too often over the last few years have the hyped 1st round quarterbacks been pitched into battle to varying results, but none particularly great. Sanchez springs to mind as a "success", but that team is built REALLY well, and I find him useless (opinion). I think the college crop of quarterbacks need some grooming time. 3-4 years worth? No. More like 1-2.

I say keep Manning off IR, get some heavy practice reps toward the end of the year (if healthy) and make a decision then. But I'll bet 99 out of 100 times that the FO picks Manning to lead them out of this abyssmal season, not Luck.

  6. He may help, but can he play in a system like the Colts run? Will he be effective lining up 7-15 yards off the receiver? Or will he look just like Lacey? I like the player over Lacey, but I am concerned that the scheme will limit his ability, and this will be more money thrown at the wrong solution to the problem...
