Not sure you even realize he hurt himself in the off season.   NOT playing football.

He cut his foot and it became infected.   As for football -- he plays.   57 out of 64 games he has started.   He's only missed 7 games in 4 years.

From a football perspective,  he's no more risky than anyone else.

That said...    at this point, I think you're likely to get your wish on a contract.   1-year with incentives.

I'm aware of how he was injured by a golf cart, but it happened where he also had an injury as a child. He was released and passed on for a reason. I'm just comparing him to those players because that is how I see his career panning out. He is high risk, where the very act of running can cause re injury. He isn't worth full price and you know it.

Exactly.  We don't have too many young four year starters on our team period.  He received a nice contract from Carolina before he failed the physical and rightly deserved.  He is a proven and capable starter in this league and would certainly start unless Desir has a huge preseason.  I hope it all works out and we sign him.  We could certainly use another proven veteran CB in our secondary and he would be a real nice addition at this time of the year.

Yeah let's sign the next Godser Cherilus, Arthur Jones. He is too high risk unless he takes a one year prove it contract with incentives. 4.5 mil with a possible 2 mil bonus for performance. Otherwise he's high risk average reward.

I think she’s implying Ballard was showing them it’s a competition, and we have choices.

In other words, we’re choosing, not them.

Bring in two at a time and one might be quicker to sign for less.

Statements like these always make me cringe when a guy is trying to make a roster because they put added pressure on Franklin & he's not being evaluated for his spousal qualifications.

I wish the man luck. Reminds me of the same craziness coaches said about Tebow too & he's playing minor league baseball right now.

Irsay kept Chuck around for being a stand up guy. Zaire has a shot lol.

Recently, they've been really good at losing 3 yards on a WR Screen.  I'm just looking forward to NOT being able to guess the play based on the alignment.  I think throughout this next season, it will become even more clear just how bad our last 2 OC's really were.  And it will make us hopeful and sick at the same time.

Nail on the head, pagano OCs never disguised any thing everyone knew we were running. I hope we utilize two TE sets alot can run or pass with the defense on their heels.

  6. I like the idea of a shorter passing game. The success of this hinges on Luck, he has never been that great in the short yardage game. He'll have work on his accuracy he tends to over throw every one and make bad decisions the quicker he has to release the ball. But I truly believe he will improve at this with the upgrades on the line if he is fully healthy.

Jordan Wilkins is the sleeper in this draft.

I think he'll challenge mack for starting spot. He's a beast at yards after contact, and I've heard he can catch too. He's more of a three down back than Marlin because he can really get those short yards.

Feeling good about Nelson/Kelly/Smith (or Mewhort) in the middle of the Oline.

Million dollar question is who is our RT ?

Wouldn't be surprised if Smith makes move to RT and Slausen plays gaurd.

Ah... I kind of glossed over Slauson's name in your OP. I'd honestly keep Smith at RG, let him & Slauson compete for the starting job, then they can scheme to help out whoever starts at RT (likely Good or Haeg) with a TE or RB. Either way, passing downs should be a lot less stressful this year.

With the potential of this line, and like you said two TE sets, this could be the best ground game the Colts have had in decades.

I actually liked what I saw out of Denzelle Good last year prior to his injury, and it sounds like we'll see a lot of 2 TE sets, so whoever's at RT will also be getting plenty of help from Ebron/Doyle/Swoope. All in all, if our only weakness along the OL after this draft is RT, I chalk that up as a win.

Lol auto correct I think Braden Smith will start at RT

  11. I don't think there will be a true RB at 2, it will be situational mack/hines for passing downs, wilkens/turbin for short yardage. As for reciever I thinks Rogers steps up for #2, then Cain and Grant battle it out for #3. But will Probably be in a lot of two TES sets most of the time. The scariest thing to think with potential of our oline we could have a really good ground game.

  12. I agree with you about giving the draftees a chance to pan out. But I know as well as many on this board do also, with the right coaching and vision a healthy Luck led team is always a playoff contender. So I'll always feel we are one solid signing on Defense away from competing for afc south. It's harder than ever before but can be done. I think if all our secondary is healthy and coached well they are one of the youngest best groups out there. Hooker, Geathers, and Fairley are game changers. Wilson looked like a solid starter when on the field. If Eberflus finds a good rushing scheme our secondary will do damage.

  13. Not every young player will develop into a starter. I believe we can be competitive this year. MLB is the most important position in the 4-3 and Bowman is a proven talent with experience. For the price isn't outrageous he could be leader this young defense needs.

Moncrief might still be here if he stsyed healthy and produced

I really like Moncrief he had a fluke year in my opinion. Now he's in Jacksonville were they drafted DJ Chark at wr the guy I wanted instead of Turay. Jacksonville could have the best wr corp is football next year.

That's scary because Costanzo got beat quite often last year. Quick twitch players were owning him.

Maybe I'm being critical of his play because I was so disappointed in his down year and overacted to his bad plays. The thing with oline players is the never get credit when doing good you just seem to notice when they mess up. PFF also says he had good year in 2017.
