The more I learn about Smith, the more I like. If he develops into what Ballard and co. think he can , then not only is the interior of our line better , but we actually have an identity.

Nelson and Smith are going to change our “soft” label very quickly.

It's nice to think about the possibiliies of our inside oline, Nelson Kelly Smith. Let's pray this is the year A.Costanzo gets his crap together and gets back to the player he once was. I'm really scared about defense though, big ???'s with the front 7. Hopefully Hooker and Geathers are back to full health. We need Wilson to grow into #1 starting CB quick, after losing Melvin. We need our offense to be clicking on all cylinders to be competitive. I hope Luck has the Manning ability to make recievers and TEs better because we need it. Outside of TY there is no proven startering WRs on our team.

I loved Anderson.  I hope he is awesome for the Bills.  At the same time, I'm exited about a faster defense.  No more clunky linebackers struggling in space, and waves of fast defenders attacking the gaps.  For those who question a drastic scheme change, it is not like we were a piece away from making the 3-4 work.  Now was the perfect time to make the switch.  Overall, I felt this draft was offense heavy, and with our picks the Oline got nastier, our running backs got faster, and we increased our speed overall.  I'm going to like a faster offense and defense.  We will be more aggressive on both sides.  Best of luck to you Henry.

    Anderson went to Jets Lol.

  3. I think Ballard nailed it on the first 3 picks. I didn't like all the picks after that or  the order of need for position. But I must say his strategy of getting two of every position was very smart. But I still don't get the Anderson trade, says it's a scheme fit issue but then drafts Turay who himself is a 3-4 DE lol. Plus Turay had two shoulder surgeries so throws out the excuse of Anderson being damaged goods too.

I really don't understand all the "wasn't a good fit for the new scheme" comments. He was an athletic lineman who had dropped weight to become even more athletic. The 4-3 scheme depends on athletic linemen to penetrate. I also think cutting Hankins was a bad move. I think he could have been very disruptive in the new scheme.

    Ballard's questionable moves:

    • Not resigning Rashan Melvin
    • Cutting Hankins
    • Trading Anderson for a god-forsaken 7th rounder

He blames scheme fit then drafts Turay who is a 3-4 DE lol. Also we got Hankins from Giants were he was in a 4-3 D but for some reason he can't do that in Indy??? Something is stinking here, I think players are wanting out.

Let me know when he trades a first for Trent Richardson.

At the time of trade every one was pumped about not one person was saying it was dumb till Trent didn't show up. Trent failed not Grigson, not saying Grigson was good lol.

We have 10 wide receivers on the roster right now not named Hilton. Just how do you know what we have and don't have?

    Dres Anderson 6-2 190 1 yr

    K.J. Brent 6-3 202 1 yr

    Ryan Grant 6-0 204 5 yrs

    Krishawn Hogan 6-3 222 2 yrs

    Seantavios Jones 6-3 200 1 yr

    Justice Liggins 6-1 210 1 yr

    Kolby Listenbee 6-0 183 1 yr

    James White 6-0 183 4 yrs

    Chester Rogers 6-1 184 3 yrs

    DeAndre Smelter 6-2 227 2 yrs

You say Luck has crap to throw to but I highly doubt you have any knowledge on who there guys are and what talent they have to offer. They all were signed for a reason but don't let that get in the way of your negativity.

Rogers is the only one with any upside, he's had flashes and I hope he steps up this year. But the rest are all unproven garbage and your delusional if you think otherwise.

    Camp bodies lol.

  7. The Rutgers DE had 7 sacks in three years and two shoulder surgeries. I have every right as a fan to be like wth. We have Anderson Simon Sheard Autry at DE already. Makes 0 sense. First three picks were good. We should have grabbed Chark from LSU 6'3 200lb+ WR, guess who got him Jacksonville smh. Luck has crap to throw to besides ty. And we still need an ILB and CB. I hope the picks pan out but doubt it.

Wait till the day of the draft CB and till we are on the clock and take in a kings randsom for our #6. But what’s the point of moving up to 6 if there are no QB’s left? If barkley, Chubb, Nelson or Fitzpatrick are available at 6 don’t trade!!!

You got the order right too. Barkley, Chubb, then Nelson. I would consider more picks if these three are gone. Fitzpatrick is good but we already have Geathers and Hooker, and it would be hard not getting a stronger need like MLB, OL, WR.

  9. Zero, I truly believe the Browns won't risk the Giants taking him 2nd. I say they take him number 1 and get their favorite qb left at 4. If they don't get him with the first there is no way he will ever slide down to six. Colts will take Chubb or Nelson with 6th pick unless they are both gone in which case then they'll trade down for more picks. But if by some slim chance he is there Ballard would be a fool not to draft him, he's the best RB prospect ever hands down.

Slausen was a immediate upgrade over anyone we already had not named Castonzo, Kelly or Mewhort, so I’m not too sure what you’re on about there. Another decent oline pick in the draft and I feel like we’ve vastly improved over anything Luck has fully had at any point so far. Also, I’m fairly certain Ballard and Luck are both sure of Luck’s future, otherwise we wouldn’t have traded down and picked up more 2nd round picks, nor would we be discussing trading down again.

Yeah but he is a back up player, pretty much on any roster. I understand we need depth. But we need some real talent up front. I hope your right about Lucks, I just don't see it that way yet. If they know Luck is fully ready, then Ballard dropped the ball getting a couple quality free agents. If luck is ready and the promising young talent we have on Defense (Hooker, Wilson, why we let melvin walk i dont understand)we could be competive again with a few veteran aquisitions. When you lose Hankins the 5th best DT against run last year your best acuired free agent is Ebron you dropping the ball in my opinion. All we are doing is signing garbage players no one else wants and calling it competition, and losing half of the few talented players we need. They say Hankins doesn't fit scheme but I don't buy it, he wanted out. What's that say about the what we're building

Living in KC I've seen quite a few chiefs games the past few years and he gets picked on quite a bit. He plays soft and pensive, does not have good awareness, doesn't make many plays when the ball is in the air.

I'm not sure why Ballard signed him.

Ballard isn't going to spend a dime until he is certain of Lucks future just my 2cents. Be ready for another year of mediocrity. I really think he should have at least got one quality veteran lineman though, I'm done with Irsay if Luck gets hurt do to our Oline play. Maybe no lineman wanted to come here.

I would take Barkley if-and-ONLY-if we solidify the line through free agency.  That means improving at least two of our three question marks (LG, RG, RT).  Barkley can’t be a bust right now (before the draft?  Really?), but he could easily become one if he’s thrown into the wrong situation.  We are currently the wrong situation.

Ding ding ding winner... someone who gets it.

    10 sacks/21 TFL as a junior and 10 sacks/23 TFLas a senior isnt production?

TY, his tfl are overlooked and he is good against the run. I just don't feel like Barkley will be succssful behind our line and developing offense. He may be the better player potentially but not starting his career in indy. I know everyone says take best player over needs. But there has to be some bend to that theory, because we really need pass rush. With chubb your getting a guy who can shut the edge down on runs and is constantly in the back field. I believe we have a young talented and shutdown  secondary blossoming and chubb complements that perfectly.

With the arrival of Reich and his (and the rest of the NFL's) likely copying of the success the Eagles had on offense, Ryan Kelly may well be the most important part of our offense who doesn't have a #12 on their back.

Firstly, let me say, Ryan Kelly is not Jason Kelce, but he is a great young player and someone we can build around for years to come.  My question is, does he have the ability to get outside the "bull-rush center" skill set we have seen him do so well?  That could be massive for us in 2018, especially with the explosive skill set of Marlon Mack and the potential for it to wreak havoc in an RPO based offense.  Imagine if we can get Mack out wide in a screen with Doyle and Kelly leading the way........

The one thing I will say (aimed at Mr Ballard) is we need better guards!  There is no way we can expect Kelly to be able to slide out and help in the open field if he is having to cover for the guards due to their lack of ability.  Mark my words, if I see Le-Raven Clark at RG at the start of next year, Ballard's goodwill is gone! haha

This also leads me back to believe we will trade back from the #3 spot in the draft and take Nelson where we can get him, and add more depth elsewhere (probably defense).  Whether we go for Norwell as well, I don't know, but we need to address this area this year, especially with Luck hopefully back under center.

Anyway, thought it was an interesting discussion point so wanted to share......

    :coltslogo:

Your dead on about Kelly. I think we should consider bringing in a very good veteran or two in free agency. Definitely need more depth and better competition up front.
