Not a chance. There are guys in the league that have done way worse. Tyreek Hill plead guilty to punching and choking his pregnant girlfriend and received three years of probation. He didn't end up on the exempt list.

Also, I don't believe they're making moves to show they don't want him, because they do (why wouldn't they want a stud RB?). They're just out for positive PR, especially when it comes to any instances with women being physically assaulted.

I don't think anything is obvious at this point.     The memo about not allowing people with criminal records to come to the combine came out a year ago.     This is NOT designed to keep Joe Mixon or anyone else like him from being in the NFL.     It's designed to try and keep the NFL's image a little cleaner during a marquee event like the combine.     And it's designed to give at least some incentive for athletes to try and stay clean and out of trouble or risk not being invited tot he combine.      Players want to be at this event.    Not being there is not helpful.

Goodell won't touch the kid unless either something additional surfaces in this case,  or a new case happens.

Joe Mixon will not be an any exempt list unless something new surfaces and that is not expected.....

Agree completely about it being a positive PR move. Also agree on him not making it onto any exempt list should he make a final roster.

My problem with people like Mixon who abuse women usually do it more than one time.

Did anyone really think Ray Rice only did it one time? Theres a good chance Mixon has probably done it before the time we saw it on video, and theres a good chance he will do it again. Abusers don't usually change unfortunately, a lot of them do it their entire life.

If the Colts draft him, and he does it again, the same people in this thread wanting him drafted, will be killing the GM for drafting him.

Ask the women in his life how they feel about him and they will tell you the exact opposite in regards to him. Taylor and his mother, friends from school they'll all speak for his character. He's never done anything prior of this nature. I don't believe one instance should mark him as a woman abuser either. He made one serious lapse of judgment in a violent situation and he's marked as a abuser. We don't mark people who speed once or have a traffic ticket reckless drivers, we don't mark someone who has said one racy joke as a racist, we don't mark someone who has gotten drunk one time as an alcoholic, why is this any different? He made one terrible dumb and violent decision, he has served a suspension (say he basically Red shirted if you want but it was a year of his life wasted without football), did a lot of community service and has faced scrutiny from everyone who knows the situation for what he did. Whether or not what he has done to pay for it is enough of a punishment is irrelevant because he met the prerequisites and served the consequences put before him to be given a second chance from his team.

I will not kill the GM for drafting Joe regardless of what happens afterwards because I believe he should be given a second chance. I also don't want to attack you for this post, I just want to respond to the situation so if it felt like I was I'm sorry.

I want him not only for his immense talent but for the fact that half this board would be disgusted by our team for drafting a kid who did ONE bad thing when he was 18. That is the ONLY character problem reported on him and he was 18 years old. Give the kid a break

He's a great guy honestly. Constantly visiting sick children in the hospitals in Oklahoma, to doing work with the community. Always caring for others dating back to high school and beyond. He made a mistake, a big mistake, and has learned from it. He'll tell you how big of a mistake it was. He understands. He deserves a second chance imo. I would love for us to draft him, not only because he's a great player and my friend, but also because I would like for the team I support to give second chances like I wish anybody I know would. People aren't perfect and while I do not support what he did (nor should the colts) I do believe giving someone a second chance should not be frowned upon.

  4. I don't care if he's a #1 or a #2, 1400 yards is 1400 yards. He's our clear number one threat, NFL defenses treat him as a #1. I couldn't care less what the media and NFL.com calls the man. TY is gonna TY. TY is gonna ball out. And if he keeps this pace up for 5-8 more years he may very well find himself in Canton.

I'm a fan of Samaje Perine in the 3rd or 4th. Excellent back who had some great seasons before getting overshadowed by Mixon this past season and dealt with some injuries. I also kinda like Jamaal Williams.

Oklahoma fan here. The problem I have with Samaje is that he had quite a bit of wear as well as his share of injuries at OU and it's consensus from everyone I've heard speak on him that they aren't sure how long he will last in the league. He is a big back and runs very hard though which is great if he could stay healthy. He is an excellent person as well, just thought I'd throw that in.

The question isn't if he has the talent to be THE guy, it's the baggage that comes with him that makes him a risk. He will either be the smartest pick of the draft or the dumbest. If I'm a new GM I'm not sure i take that risk unless he falls a lot. I think if he somehow falls to our 4th round comp pick then we shouldnt even think twice about it. But anytime before that is a risk. Especially if Jimmy raye gets the GM job. He's connected to the Grigson regime so any pick he make is going to be highly scrutinized by both the fan base and the media.

TL/DR: Mixon is a risky pick for a new GM, and before he falls enough for it to make sense, he will be scooped up by someone else.

He's received a first round grade from draft advisory so if he falls to the third I believe that he'd be a steal. I don't believe he actually goes that high but from a talent standpoint I think he's there. I agree it's risky from the standpoint of the media claiming it's a risky pick. But in all honesty I don't believe there's anything to really worry about with him. Knowing him personally I know his mistake was a unique action rather than the norm. He's grown since the incident and I've been around him quite a few times since when he's been home and he seems legitimately sorry for what he did. I'd take him if he's there in the third for sure, possibly the second.

  7. I used to take losses very poorly. I by no means would call myself a good loser, but the losses don't hurt quite as bad as they did when I was younger. I've been to a few games (never in Indy) such as the SF game in Lucks 2nd year and the Oakland game in late 2010 (Manning's last away game playing for us) but I prefer to not deal with the traffic and just watch from home. I talk to the tv as if the players can hear me lol

  8. If he falls to the 3rd I would take Joe Mixon. I've seen some talk of people not thinking he can be THE guy, and I humbly disagree. He's a big back and has explosiveness and big play ability. I see some Le'Veon Bell in some aspects of his style, particularly his versatility. Depending on players available I'd even take him in the 2nd. I don't really want a back in the 1st and would prefer defense, but for me Mixon and Cook are the best fits for us at running back if we were to take one.

  9. Hello, I've been frequenting the forum for some time but only just made an account. This is my first post so what's up everyone!

I personally believe that we should go defense with the first pick as clearly our defense leaves much to be desired, especially in the pass rushing department. However if we do go running back I prefer Cook to Fournette. Fournette's style I'm not so sure is a good fit in our offense, as constructed. Cook is a much better receiver and the better fit imo. My favorite back in this draft however is Joe Mixon (though I am biased as I've known him growing up through high school). Watching him throughout high school, as well as being an Oklahoma fan my whole life (family is from there) I've gotten to see quite a bit of him. I believe he is a perfect fit in this offense and adds the big play ability we have been lacking at the position, as well as an exceptional receiving threat. I know I'm going to be paying attention to where he goes, hopefully to Indy somewhere in this draft.
