  1. I mean no disrespect to Vinatieri, but it's time to move on. If Ballard and Reich are serious about wanting this team to compete they need to pull the trigger and sign a new kicker. Vinatieri has shown 10 times this season that he is no longer consistent enough to be a starting kicker. Yes he is the GOAT but all great things come to an end at some point. He is hurting this team more than he is helping them.

  2. This is pretty concerning to me. You have a star linebacker questioning retirement when you've already had your franchise player retire. Sounds to me like our training staff isn't doing the best job of getting these players where they need to be health wise and reassuring them. I know that concussions aren't your typical rehab, but it doesn't sound like our training staff was doing all it could to make sure he was getting healthy. Just my two cents.

  3. Personally looking at where the defense is at I'm disappointed so far. Austin Ekeler, Josh Jacobs, Devonta Freeman did whatever they wanted. We have a seriously problem of getting bullied around right now and I'm not sure it's a quick fix. Margus Hunt looks below average again, Autry gets man-handled defending the run. Our defense needs some more play-makers. I think in 2-3 years we will be better defensively after a 1 or 2 more good drafts. Also I know he's a rookie but Bobby Okereke looks like a lost puppy trying to play out there.

  4. I watched Haeg all four years at NDSU, the guy is a stud lineman. Smart, technically sound, mobile, great first step. He is a pulling guard in this league, yes he got overmatched in year 1 but give him a full off-season of NFL strength training and you will see major improvement. I'm saying he will be our RG of the future and Clark will take over RT until we get rid of Castonzo and slide Clark to LT and put Banner and RT that's my prediction for the future. A road grading Oline.

  5. The tight ends we have this year are a perfect fit to our offense, and Ballard will draft Troy Fumagalli out of Wisconsin next year. That guy is an absolute stud TE.

  6. The sad thing is, is that Grigson put us behind the eight ball with numerous bad drafts all while the Titans, Jags, and Texans have been adding talent. I love the Colts but I'm seeing a comfy place at the bottom of the division for a few years. The titans are a scary good team now that mariota has some receivers at his disposal. The jags are no joke if the Bortles of 2015 shows up they're a playoff contender. I'm saying 8-8 is our ceiling...6-10 is my prediction. Just trying to be a realist.

  7. Love the mock you put up here. Just want to throw a little insight being a colts fan from Wisconsin. I would love to trade back with Green Bay and snag TJ Watt. He's so underrated in this draft. Absolute game wrecker in every game he played. I see a lot of names like Derek Barnett, Tak, Dalvin Cook being linked to Indy, but I think the true steal would be getting Watt. You know he's going to bust his tail playing in the same division as big brother. Why not take the shot.

  8. In my opinion any team who drafts an O-lineman in the first round is really reaching this year. Compare these lineman to last year's first rounders, not great. Forrest Lamp is solid but it would be a waste of a 1st round pick. Build the defense...our O-line is developing better than the experts think. Look at our last 6-8 games last year we were really moving people and coming together. If Gore had more burst we would have been really gaining some yards. Focus on the D Ballard that's what wins champions.

  9. I think about this off-season in terms of having a competent GM with an understanding of how to build a real roster vs the old GM who probably couldn't build a D3 football roster. Ballard has brought in guys who will grind everyday to win a starting job and gain their incentive money. Whereas Grigs brought in guys like Ricky Jean Francois, Laron, Todd Herrmanns, the list goes on...as well as guys who didn't have knowledge of the game to come in and try to "compete". My case in point is that we finally have a guy who is building from the ground up! Rome wasn't built in day my fellow Colts fans.

  10. What I have noticed and dove into contract wise is that all of these signings aren't just giving away money. They are all really incentive based. Ballard is giving these second tier free agents a choice to go out and earn your spot, earn your money. Unlike Grigson who handed out money just because he had it. I love what Ballard is doing, he is essentially forcing his coaches to coach and his players to compete in order to earn their paycheck. Do some research dig into how the Patriots sign players...we're using the same incentive based contract formula they're using.

  11. Without a doubt we have wasted some of Luck's years. We had one of the most if not the most incompetent GM's in the league with no eye for talent. It's a shame it took Irsay this long to see it and now it's going to be another 2-3 years before our roster is contender worthy defensively.

  12. I played NT in college what I learned from day one is to occupy and create space for my backers to have clear lanes to tackle. It's not about stats, it's about being a space eater. Poe is one of the best. He commands a double team which opens everything up for one on one's on the edge and for clear tackling lanes for our middle backers. All the great 3-4 defenses have had a nose tackle that eats up blockers. Parry is solid but he's a rotational guy, gets worn down quickly. Having Poe would make Morrison, Pound Cake, etc look and play way better.

  13. The hoodie is always ten steps ahead of every other team...they will get back in the first round by trading Jimmy G to the Browns so essentially giving up nothing to get Cooks. I'm guessing they'll get the Browns number 12 pick moving way up from where they were before. I love my Colts, but the Patriots do everything right.

  14. Allen is expendable in my opinion. He disappears for long stretches in games. Whereas Doyle and Swoope showed the ability to stretch the field and make plays consistently. Allen needs to take a pay cut or get cut. With that extra money we could have wiggle room to sign more defensive players. This draft is deep enough in the tight end group we could find one to replace Allen.

I have been saying this on the Grigson fired thread all along. I say the most likely thing to happen is Raye being promoted to GM and having the choice of keeping or firing Pagano.

What is the alternative? Peyton (not happening guys, not unless someone works with him for a year or two or more)? Gruden (ship has sailed imo)? other GM candidates (we would have heard rumors and no way he does so without a formal interview or meeting)?

I don't think Raye is going to fix things. I want to go out of house and hire Elliot Wolff from Green Bay...the success that franchise has had how could you not look the guy over.
