Simple question, simple premise. On one hand, you're already late in the playoffs with an aging QB & a good chance to make/win the Super Bowl, and you're cheated out of it. On the other hand, a Super Bowl-caliber roster is left in potential QB limbo for several years.

What NFL QB of present or past would you compare Kelly to? I haven't watched ANY of the preseason so far.
The form of Philip Rivers, the legs of Steve Young, the arm of Joe Flacco, and the heart of a lion, if said lion was born in a college frat.

It sounds like Ballard and Reich are exhausted and ready to move on from Luck. Irsay looks like a jilted ex boyfriend who go cheated on but would take the girl back who dumped him.
Was there a press conference yet?

Who the hell is Mel Kiper, anyway?

You know how Ballard spoke about the value of guys who were exceptional at a few things and the importance of playmakers? Darnell Savage fits those criteria perfectly. He's a little small (5'11", 201) but his closing speed is RIDICULOUS and he pops on film. His head-on tackling is inconsistent, but his run and pass fits are great, and he can tackle fine from an angle. Thing is, I hear almost nothing about him. Am I just too high on this guy or is he buried behind other safety prospects?

N'Keal Harry reminds me so much of Nuke Hopkins. Do any of y'all have any college players that you see shades of another player in?
-
No! He jumps in the defense pictures! He can't leave!
In all seriousness, he seems like he loves it here. I wouldn't trade a proven QB who has bought in unless he wanted to be a starter elsewhere, especially with Andrew Luck one year removed from surgery.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I didn't have a problem with any of Reich's 4th down calls.
If it works even one of those times, we would've likely won. It's a boom or bust philosophy. Sunday was a big-time bust, but there will be games it helps us greatly. Plus, the players seem to like it.

The team? I don't think so.
The fans? Definitely.Maybe "full of ourselves" wasn't the right adjective. Lackadaisical? Trap-game candidate? I dunno

I can't be the only person who doesn't mind today's game, right? Honestly, I think it was sloppy, but a good wake-up call for a tough stretch to end the season. I think this team/us fans got a little too full of ourselves, and this was a moment for us all to realize we can't win like we did for the past month. I think our young leaders step up and we finish strong, playoffs or not.

We're a young team. This was our crash down to Earth moment. We have young, strong leaders, and they'll help this team regroup this week. I think we'll see a better Colts team all-around than we have all season over the next few weeks. Maybe that's just the optimistic fan in me talking.

Of course we did. We're Colts homers!

Coach Reich has instituted himself as a go-for-the-gusto type play caller. That philosophy will win us games we have no business being in and lose us games we have no business losing. Sloppy game overall, but it's to be expected. On to the next.

Mike Mitchell obviously was a misfit at FS. Hopefully he moves back next week.

Youtube and Reddit are both blocked on my Mac. Are there any good websites to watch college tape of specific college players?

Why are the Redskins pretty much the consensus pick everywhere I go? Maybe the Redskins are better than the Colts, but I just didn't see much last week from the Redskins that would warrant a +6 spread.

Nick Bosa/Ed Oliver is not the worst result for this season, let's be honest

There is a difference between a back having "power" and having a good stiff arm. Power to me speaks of leg drive and finishing a run. That said Mack had a bad shoulder and I think we really wanted to limit his snaps last year. If his shoulder is healthy he should see more carries. I think Wilkins has a lot of promise. I think we would like to slowly work him into the offense but the Turbin situation perhaps has pushed up the time frame. Hines I think is a gadget back that won't see a lot of traditional carries but should see lots of passes and other opportunities where we get him out in space.
Mack bounced outside a lot at South Florida as well. I think it fits well in our supposed Eagles-type three back system - Wilkins for in between the tackles, Mack for outside runs, Hines as a playmaker

I didnt see a everydown RB last year in Mack.
Maybe that was the injury.
He didnt do well between the tackles
He clearly has talent......
I wonder if he puts some time in the weightroom..... like adding 10-15lbs
If HE can be the guy......
He definitely has the frame to add that weight. Good ole' Rusty Jones can make it happen.

Nelson keeps getting compared with the best of the best...
John Hannah... the greatest guard of all-time.
Steve Hutchinson and Alan Fanaca... I think they were on the all-Decade team and are widely expected to be in the Hall of Fame someday.
Now this story talks about Marshall Yanda and Zack Martin. Pretty elite company.
I'd be thrilled if we can draft him. But I'll understand if we don't.... this guard class is very good, and there should be a number of quality Day One starters in R2 and R3. If Ballard grabs one of those guys, I'll be OK with that as well.
You got a preference for one of 'em?

You can't spell Chad Kelly without lead, which is exactly what he'll do on our way to Super Bowl 54!
