  1. You know how Ballard spoke about the value of guys who were exceptional at a few things and the importance of playmakers? Darnell Savage fits those criteria perfectly. He's a little small (5'11", 201) but his closing speed is RIDICULOUS and he pops on film. His head-on tackling is inconsistent, but his run and pass fits are great, and he can tackle fine from an angle. Thing is, I hear almost nothing about him. Am I just too high on this guy or is he buried behind other safety prospects?

There is a difference between a back having "power" and having a good stiff arm. Power to me speaks of leg drive and finishing a run. That said Mack had a bad shoulder and I think we really wanted to limit his snaps last year. If his shoulder is healthy he should see more carries. I think Wilkins has a lot of promise. I think we would like to slowly work him into the offense but the Turbin situation perhaps has pushed up the time frame. Hines I think is a gadget back that won't see a lot of traditional carries but should see lots of passes and other opportunities where we get him out in space.

Mack bounced outside a lot at South Florida as well. I think it fits well in our supposed Eagles-type three back system - Wilkins for in between the tackles, Mack for outside runs, Hines as a playmaker

I didnt see a everydown RB last year in Mack.

    Maybe that was the injury.

He didnt do well between the tackles

    He clearly has talent......

I wonder if he puts some time in the weightroom..... like adding 10-15lbs

If HE can be the guy......

He definitely has the frame to add that weight. Good ole' Rusty Jones can make it happen.

Nelson keeps getting compared with the best of the best...

John Hannah...   the greatest guard of all-time.

Steve Hutchinson and Alan Fanaca...   I think they were on the all-Decade team and are widely expected to be in the Hall of Fame someday.

Now this story talks about Marshall Yanda and Zack Martin.      Pretty elite company.

I'd be thrilled if we can draft him.     But I'll understand if we don't....    this guard class is very good, and there should be a number of quality Day One starters in R2 and R3.     If Ballard grabs one of those guys,  I'll be OK with that as well.

You got a preference for one of 'em?
