  1. Its a good discuss, Steel.  My take is Grigson is considerably better.  I don't want to be mistaken for a Grigs defender.  Truth is, he's unfortunately had more misses than makes and that just can't happen.  But, I don't think many of us disagreed with his choices until after they were clearly misses.  I mean, I felt like Herremans was the 2-3 year end-of-career interior anchor we needed.  I didn't like the Dre Johnson signing, but felt he'd have one good year.  Many of us thought Trent Richardson would be a good back.  Trent Cole seemed like a good pass rush fill-in.  They're just bad misses.  OTOH, take away Ze German and Grigs' drafts have been pretty darn good.  His defensive draft this year has us with 3-4 really good starting players for the next 5-10 years (Anderson (pro bowler in making), Perry, Geathers.  Hopefully Dijon cuts the mustard as he progresses).  Denzelle Good looks, uh, good too.  He's had some FA hits too. Langford, Doyle, Lowery, Adams, Gore.

For me, I truly felt like Chris Polian was nepotism at its worst.

  2. So, in reality, the only difference is that we'll play Pittsburgh in Indy and the Jets.  All the other teams the o/p mentioned were permanent scheduling opponents.  That, over the Bengals and Patriots.  I'll take that, and the higher draft picks (in all rounds, BTW) over getting blown out in the playoffs.

Really tough schedule though for 2016.  Still think we dominate next year, especially with a new coaching staff.

  3. Would not have signed TY.  He's not a #1 WR, let alone top five (money). Guy disappears in big games, especially deep playoff runs.  #1s are not capable of being taken out of games.  Simply put, TY is moderately game-planned around.   Elite speed. Good, not great, hands.  Very poor size and strength.   Could be the best #2 WR in league.  Would love to have him on our team as that and paid as that.

  4. I'll take heat for this.  I've got a much "worser" scenario.  Colts win, get the 4th seed.  Host Pittsburgh in WC round in Indy.  Colts "fans" sell their tickets to Pittsburgh fans in droves because, "hey man, I can pay for a 'hoah' season of my Coates' tickets by sellin' one playoff game."  So its 50% Pittsburgh fans and we get blown out by 30 at home in the playoffs.  We're embarrassed as a team at home in the playoffs, we're embarrassed as a city (despite being an awesome city and great fan base) and we have a 1st place schedule, 26th pick in the draft, etc.  We live with that awful (and incredibly likely) feeling all winter-summer.  Does that feel better to anyone than getting a 2nd or 3rd place schedule, Top 12 draft pick, higher 2-7th round picks, getting everyone back healthy for 2016 and making a deep playoff run?

because having a shot in the playoffs is better than no shot.  Last time I checked around here the goal is to win the Super Bowl not get high draft picks and have two easier games next (that's the only difference in schedules from the division champ and any other team).

That doesn't mean the Colts are going to go on some kind of miracle run but look around the AFC if the Colts can get healthy and get in and some how get past probably the Chiefs at home they are probably going to go play a beat team in the next round, if it's the Bengals or Broncos maybe a team without their starting QB and two teams the Colts matchup very well with.  Anything could happen in that game and if by some miracle they got to the AFCCG game anything can happen at that point.

Again, I'd agree none of that is likely but at least if they are in the playoffs they have a shot of it happening.  I'd rather have that and a shot than no shot at all.

Fully respect your take.  That's the way a fan should feel.  I just look at it differently.  While you're right about two games you left out all the other valuable future benefits.  We're spoiled. I get it.  But no one here wants a blow out at home in WC round.  Almost positive that'll happen.  I'll take my kicks now with a bright future over dismal playoff loss and resultant degradation in future impact.  My $0.02.

  6. Could not agree more.  Top 12 draft pick, high 2nd and 3rd rounders.  New coaching staff. 2nd or 3rd place schedule.  Healthy starters returning at many positions.  Great defensive draft of 2015 has a year under its belt.

How are the above points countered by a crushing home loss in Wild card round, coupled with 1st place schedule, low draft position, #ChuckStrong retained?

  7. Keyed on Good from my seat at LOS. Tons of positives. I'd describe his feet as something close to ballerina-like. Future bookend RT opposite Castonzo for a decade. We can move Reitz inside to RG or let him be the incredible 5-* super sub plus 6th lineman-jumbo. We draft the best C in draft. We have a good oline going into 2016. I'm one who thinks our line is decent now. Got a ton of incorrect/lemming critique due to Peps stupid vertical route trees and Luck's ball-holding.

  8. I'll take heat for this. I preface with saying Reggie Wayne is my favorite Colt of all-time. Anyone else a bit disappointment with his in-game acknowledgement from the crowd today? If you were at the game? Incredibly "meh" and basically took Brackett's urging to even acknowledge. No smile, two finger "wave." He always has been so good to the Indy fans. He gets a pass but

  9. A spike or fist pump out of emotion I understand, but the insane ridiculous dancing is nonsense, for a TD or a sack, & I'm super over it personally...

I see kids in pop warner doing it now and its nonsense...

It devalues the team aspect of team sports, and glorifies the already ego-centric, me attitude...

High five your teammates for good plays all day long, but the end-zone dance got old a long time ago...

Be a pro and act like you've been there before...

    +100 and applause.

  10. I'll share a story on Good. This is simply a repeat of a cool Grigson inside story. I'm taking no position but must admit it intrigued and excited me. Good was one of Grigson' diamond in the rough scouting finds. He absolutely loves the guy and feels he could be a 10-year starter at LT or RT or be an incredibly versatile backup tackle. Guy can dunk a basketball. Grigsy described his feet as elite ("dancing bear"). Very raw because of tiny college system. Believe he was a basketball player.

Grigson called him to let him know they were going to make him our first UDFA signing. He got intel that the Jets had discovered him and we're gonna spend a 7th. (If memory serves maybe one or two other teams). Several others were going to make him #1 UDFA signing. Gig was up, he'd been discovered. So happy to spend a 7th on a huge upside prospect.

Reitz has played really well, IMO this year. Great game against Atlanta. Second rated RT by PFF for November. I love Reitz. Always have. Versality may save an extra roster spot. Good sounds quite similar with way better feet than Joey. But with Reitz playing so well (injury prone til this year) and Castonzo being a future probowler (yeah poor year this year until recent), Good won't see the lineup for a bit. And that's fine.
