  1. It's impossible to deserve year 4 when you didn't deserve year 1. One more year would just be a waste to the franchise and they could make a quality hire that would allow for them to move forward as opposed to treading water with a lame duck coach for another year.

A lame duck who unless the Pats win the superbowl will of got his team to the playoffs as many times us Bellichick in the last 3 years and will have a better or the same playoff record

  2. Same ol same ol. I for one was looking for change. Even WITH Peyton I thought our offense was starting to REGRESS the last couple of years. No multiple formations or imagination in the play calling. If Peyton was given a REAL oc or head coach I'm sure he'd be putting up INSANE numbers with a MEDIOCRE run game just like Brady, Brees and Rogers. Even Eli is putting up crazy numbers. Instead we are left with grind out EVERY possession counts with NO room for error (i.e bad timeouts, non challenges or do what we do game plans) More of the post game not to down when we lose and the philosophic spin on the outcome. Let's not forget as we watched on national tv that coaching staff TRY absolutely NOTHING different as the Saints dropped 62 POINTS on the Colts. Hopefully the new gm can at least SURROUND Caldwell with some up and coming star assistants so that his input will be MINIMUN at best. If the Colts start moving in the direction of the BIG, strong, AGGRESSIVE defense with a couple of headhunters sprinkled in, MAYBE it will give SOME glimmer of hope that things will TRULY start changing as Irsay stated.

What are you on about Manning does put up crazy numbers for the two years he has played under JC with a non existent running game and he would of done the same this year but he was injured. If you really think Jc is holding Peyton back he must be awful at it as he has won an MVP and got to a superbowl in his 2 years under Caldwell. Yes he does need an agressive DC but only because he isnt a defensive minded guy.

  3. Sure they can.. 16 wins is more than 3 losses, but Jim Caldwell's negatives are far more than Jim Caldwell's positives.. I know you have trouble comprehending things and that will stump you.

Your simplistic approach of Colts 16-3, Caldwell coach of the Colts = Caldwell great coach doesn't hold much water... Zero logic! That is on par with the Dilfer with a ring being a better quarterback than Marino without one. Illogical.

It's quite simple Caldwell has had 2 great years he took a team to being basically unbeaten in his rookie year as a HC and had the guts to rest our starters when most of the fans wanted them to go for the unbeaten season and go to the super bowl. Also I fined it interesting how people say he got out coached in the Sb despite our receivers dropping a lot but so that all the wins against some of the best minds in football weren't on him. I know our season records have gotten worse but so have our injuries. He got us to the play-offs with as battered team as you will see and we narrowly lost to a team that got to the championship match. This year we lost all three of our captains one being Manning and had a bad year yes but our team didn't give up and stressed you out about losing the 1st pick with our only proper leader left being Saturday so yes Caldwell is a leader. You don't need to get emotional to do this how did that work for Haley and Ryan when they team was under pressure. He kept us going and restored some honour to this franchise. So yes has achievements over the last 3 years means he deserves a chance to prove himself once more even if it's just one more year.

All I want us Caldwell to appoint himself as offensive co-ordinator and fire the one we've got so its only him and Manning and Hire a good big name defensive co-ordinator (Spags, Del rio or Singletary)

  4. When it comes to Caldwell, I don't see coaching brilliance. I can name several times when he actually cost us a game due to his poor decision making, and cannot name a time when I thought we won a game directly because of a decision that he made.

Let me give you a few examples:

In the Super Bowl against the Saints, it was clear that he was out-coached by Sean Payton. Coach Payton made a bold decision to go for an on-side kick after half time. That was a bold move and worked in his favor. That's an instance where if you are a Saint fan, you can say that you won that game because of coaching.

This weekend, the Forty Niners were trailing the Saints in the fourth quarter. They ran a bootleg, which caught everyone off gaurd, and they scored on that play. It was a brilliant play call. You can argue that the Niner's won due to their coaching.

When have we won because of a coaching decision by our coaching staff?

Also, the argument that the players like Caldwell is not a good arguement. We as Colts fans can see that Norv Turner is not a good head coach, right? However, the players want to keep him in SD. It's because people don't like change.

So which ones of the offensive plays are Caldwell's calls and which are Manning's calls you don't know only they do half of the time so it's impossible to say which one of those plays are planned by which. So no I can' tell you which were Caldwell's call but that doesn't mean you can claim that all of the good calls were Manning's and the bad ones were Caldwell's

  5. You mean other than take him by the arm in practice, work on his throwing motions, 3-5-7 step drops, selling the playaction, looking off receivers, etc.? A good coach, whether it be the head coach, QB coach, or Offensive Coordinator, should be able to have trained Painter better than that. Caldwell is a bad coach and Painter is a bad Quarterback. Needless to say, they make a bad combo.

There clearly is someone, other than Peyton Manning, who doesn't know how to train quarterbacks, and that has me worried for Andrew Luck's future. Thankfully, Luck already has a standard set of QB traits and talents, but that will only get him so far without professional NFL coaching, which we sorely lack.

So how come a 7 year vet who had been constantly moving around the league that no one wanted and was yet to win a game cam into our team and win 2 when he only started for a couple of games yes he can coach qb's. Ohh and whose that other one he coached that Manning guy how did he turn out i heard he got a couple of MVP's. The reason Painter was so bad was that he is the worst Qb in the league is there anyone you'd not rather have. I he had any talent he would not be soon to be no longer an NFL player

  6. Several coaches would have faired better. Belichick went 11-5 with Matt Cassel, and Cassel went on to do mediocre at best for the Chiefs and who has lost his job to Orton, so we realize Cassel's success was a by-product of Belichick's ingenuity. Jim Harbaugh for the 49'ers has changed people's opinions on Alex Smith. Point is a developing QB needs a good coach, and clearly Caldwell isn't a good coach.

Why dont we compare all HC's to one of the greatest football minds ever. No he is not as good as Belichick but there is a massive difference between Curtis Painter one of the worst Qb's ever and Bellichick had Matt Cassel who has been to a pro bowl of course it's not going to be close results wise. I do think that we deserved a better record this year but costly mistakes were made like Garcon and Carter fumbling the ball when we had a chance at having a game winning drive and Painter threw two costly picks in the end zone in one game, those are costly mistakes that you can do very little to stop as a coach.

  7. The decision on Caldwell will be made this upcoming week so he very well could be fired, BUT if he stays im hoping the colts go for a 3-4 DC and a really disciplined ST coach.

I dont understand why you would want to go 3-4 we have two of the best DE's in the buisness who we are our 2 best players on defence who get all of our pressure and cause most of our turnovers and you want to get rid of them both leaving our defence with what no pass rush or big time players. All we need to do is get Spags or Del rio to use them more effectively look what Murphy did whith our defence so what could a top quality co-ordinator do with it.

  8. The problem is , his "last run" could last a year, two, three, OR never get started.

And the 3 "1sr rounders" would be mid or late round.

I'll take a stud QB over 3 "other" positions. Didn't this year teach us anything?

If we traded Luck to the :browns: we would get the 4th overall pick and that's not near the middle or the end of the 1st round and then even next year even with the Luck they would still have one of the worst records. The :falcons: pick will be a late one but thats the only one. This would put is in a great positio n to rebuild and challenge for a SB

  9. For one thing, im convinvced it is broken. Also, There is no way they would fire Caldwell as HC and make him the OC.

Secondly, Caldwell did not take the team to the super bowl and everybody knows that. It was Manning and that is 100% obvious. Caldwell, however did lose the superbowl. I know Caldwell supporters hate that argument, but I honestly do not care. Its the truth and anybody that denies it, simply does not live in reality. Yet, the same people will say "If Manning was playing this yr. we would have won 10+ games and made the playoffs", so you tell who is the real reason why this team has been successful. Here's a clue, it has nothing to do with Caldwell.

Lastly, Im not convinced at all that Manning will even be a part of the team next season, I know many Colts fans can't face that as a possibility, but it certainly is, so keeping Caldwell wont have any effect on offensive upheaval(as you say). That almost is comical because caldwell without doubt does not have that kind of influence.

Obviously Peyton won us every single game except the SB which Caldwell cost us because everyone could see that onside kick coming  . Or Peyton won us games with Caldwell's help and the reason we lost that SB was bad catching and a costly Int and no one could seee that onside coming.

  10. I would love them to win it all the play great football on both sides of the ball and it could spur Peyton on with sibling rivalry just to have as many SB's as Eli. I'm also getting annoyed with cocky Packers fans

  11. WHAT? You want to keep Caldwell for the sake of saving the new coach his job? You get a new coach so you don't lose games, you install new systems around the players you get/have. Keeping Caldwell makes ZERO sense. NONE! He is one of the worst coaches in the league. Get a new coach!!!

Caldwell has got to the playoffs as many times as Mike Tomlin and Bill Belichick in the last 3 years and he has the same playoff record as Tomlin without dick Lebau running his defence and probably better than Belichick's as well. He has an arguable better record than Rex Ryan and never lost our team and commands respect from his players and inspires them to keep going. There is a reason why both Manning and Irsay back him. So he is far from the worst coach in the league which is why Manning and Irsay are backing him. Get him a DC (Spagnuola) quick and we will get a :lombardi: !!!

  12. Does the coach with the worst record have to go even if he is surrounded by a set of completely incompetent co-ordinators (easily the worst set in the league) and a set of awful Qb's. Look at the difference when he got even a remotely competent Defensive co-ordinator

  13. Everyone says that Caldwell is incompetent that the players only want him as they can just do what they want. He has far more control over his team than Hue Jackson did, the Raiders couldn't of given away any more penalties. Caldwell is a good coach and a great guy who his players who know a heck of a lot more than us want because he is a good coach. The big mistakes this year were getting Collins and starting Painter and i think its more likely that those were the Polians decisions. Ok his time management isn't great but that didn't cost us the super bowl or lose us any games this year give him more time to prove himself with someone competent calling our defence ( Polians mistake again) which is what lost us that superbowl. Save JC he will be our savoir

  14. Could it not be that Caldwell did help Manning i hate the idea that Manning would of been able to become one of the best QB's ever without anyone's help even the greats need someone's help to reach their potential. I think Caldwell is an above average HC and all he needs as an good defensive co-ordinator to help him on the side of the ball he doesn't know as well (Spagnuolo, Raheem Morris or Tucker). He got us to a superbowl and it wasn't him that dropped those passes or threw those interceptions and no HC could of guessed the onside kick.
