There were times in the first half against JAX where JB had four or five seconds to throw the ball and held it.  It could be because no one was open or it could be because he can't process his progressions fast enough.

Either way, a lot of it is on him.  Agreed that he should always have a checkdown option, and from what I've seen he usually does for the first couple seconds.  Even throwing it away is better than a sack.

Not saying the O line is good by any means.  Just that either Brissett has to get the ball out faster or Chud needs to put a lot more checkdowns, dump offs, and screens into the playbook (and hopefully Mack can catch them).

This is the truth right here.  JB has to get the ball out as soon as his back foot hits, trust it and let it rip. WRs were open early.

Drafting a qb in the first round is a terrible strategy.

Not always. It depends on the league (start 2 QBs or superflex), but I never draft a QB early.  I pounded the RBs pretty early and sloughed WR until the 3rd or 4th.  I targeted Doug Martin as my RB3 or 4 after the 7th or so and waited on QB and TE.  I ended up with Stafford in two leagues.

  3. First, I'll add that I hate when there is a challenge and they immediately cut to commercials then come back and make the call.  I want to see the replays of that play while the refs are deliberating.

Second, I also hate when they come back out of commercials and then the TV announcer gives a couple more commercials about some new crappy TV show or what's on 60 minutes tonight.  Ugh...

Third, The LOS experience is unbearable due to commercialization.  Those in stadium, inescapable commercials are over the top loud and in your face on every single break.  I would love it if they would cut that % out and give us a more College/High School like experience.

  4. In my opinion since football is a team sport, there shouldn't be any faces at all on the stadium. I think the horseshoe looks good where Sanders used to be. I cringe every time the TV promos say something like, "Peyton Manning and the Colts face Tom Brady and the Patriots."

  5. The reason why these rookies play right away is not because they deserve it but because their team is so terrible. The reason why their team is so terrible is the lack of a franchise QB. Case in point is the 2011 Colts we all love. These Colts are in the extremely unique situation of quite possibly having 2 franchise QBs at the same time. If this quite fortunate situation ends up becoming a reality the football decision every GM would make is to sit the rookie in lieu of the established vet. Although rare In the sports world there are couple of similar positive examples. In the NFL we can compare this too Favre/Rodgers or even more aptly this is a David Robinson/Tim Duncan Spurs redux.

  6. Obviously the NFL is a quarterback driven league. Look at our beloved Colts without Manning. The formula is already out there when you look at the best QB in the NFL playing on the best team in the NFL right now. I'll bet Favre wasn't too fond of the Packers drafting Rogers either. Look how that move turned out. The Colts would be foolish to not follow the Packers script and draft Luck.
