    Dungy Shocked About Caldwell Firing.

    Okay, heres the thing, and I know this may offend some people but let me be clear and say I mean no disrespect. Tony Dungy is/was and always will be a "pro african american" and there is absoloutley nothing wrong with that. I just feel that "The Rooney rule" is out dated, as are so many of Tony's views. Racism is not a problem in the NFL, maybe at one time but not now. Caldwell was an awful choice as a replacement, he is a good guy and I have nothing personal against the man. We win that superbowl with better coaching, the colts were simply outcoached by NO. And 2-14 is completely unacceptable in the NFL, How any one could be "shocked" he got fired amazes me.

    I was never a Dungy guy, not because of color or beliefs, but simply because I didnt feel he gave a us a great advantage, say what you want about a guy like Belichick but that team is always well prepared for everything. Coach Dungy always felt just a little complacent to me, and the team was unprepared too many times to handle new looks in the playoffs by teams like SD and NE. Tony is a great man and wonderful role model, I just wish he would focus more on the people instead of their color, if idk say Matt Ryan got caught running a dog fighting ring, would he say anything? The NFL transends race and religion and I just hope we get to the day where we dont have a rule saying you need to interview a minority, you just interview the best man for the job.

    For the type of budget we are going to have this off-season in all likely hood we aren't going to be signing other teams free agents. We are going to run out of money trying to keep our own and thus probably have to let some people go.

    I know Irsay said he would be open to the new GM going after free agents but really what else was Irsay going to say before he even knows who the guy the is going to be?

    Like Irsay said there are some real cap concerns here and we just don't have the money. To me that's always been the biggest thing that stopped us from playing the free agent game is we just didn't have the money. When we had the money Polian would go get a guy like AV, Bratzke, Reagor, Stokley, etc.

    Also if notice most of the people interviewing for this job they seem to be people who come from system that have built like the Colts have threw the draft so I don't think there is going to be a major change on the free agent system the Colts have used. Keep your own and fill in the gaps with a key free agent here or there both because that's what these GMs believe and it's what the Colts can afford.

    We drop everyone including manning and bam! Tons of cap room... It all just depends on what direction we take.... Personally I would be ticked if we just didn't sign manning... Can't let someone like that go for free

    Yea I feel like I know pretty much know all there is to know about football.... As a fan.... I couldn't tell you any pros or cons of any gm anyone talkes about.... Irsay made the right choice letting polian go... We will just have to have faith he doesn't find te next Matt millien :-p.... I don't think he will.... I just want a guy with a fire in his belly with the will to win!

    I don't know if he will become elite... But with some improvements I could see him at pro bowl level of play... He has the size for it.... Really I'm just happy he is already a solid enough starter... More then we can say about out last few draft picks... Gotta love upside :)

    I've been flipping and flopping over this for awhile but now that it's all said and done... I would take luck.. We will have to restructure and or release a lot of our beloved colts players... But a good draft with a couple fa moves... We could be on a huge upswing soon... And having him behind manning for a Year will only help luck... I don't know if I would have him sit any longer then that... Change is good... Just scary... And we needed change.. Thank you Irsay for making the right decision... I havent been this excited about a colts off season in 10 years

    That used to be the way it was all the time.

    Honestly I would think any young quarterback would love to learn from Peyton or Brady for a couple years. Not only will you be learning from one of the best but you are going to be taking over a very good offense and not have to rebuild it.

    Its a win win really.

    I agree completely.... There is no reason they can't work together and it's looking more and more like that's going to happen... Like you said luck should feel privileged to learn behind someone great for a year or two... Look at Rodgers... Worked out great... But all in all if he is a professional he will do what he has to do... If god forbid you sit behind a future hall of famer... Then make the best of it and learn! But in my opinion we will have both on roster at the start of next season... It's the only play that makes sense

    I voted no... As Irsay said " we are rebuilding" do I think we will be a top ten team soon.. Yes I believe so... If manning comes back, we get some good draft picks, and we get a good coaching staff.. Then yes maybe even as soon as next year... But as of right now no.... We had the worst record in football, fired our gm and director or football operations, and are rebuilding... How can anyone say we are a top 10 team right now?

    And quit saying "bad season" this isn't a bad season... A bad season is 6-10 5-11 this is one of the worst if not the worst season in football history.... Someone has to be held responsible... Learn from the past.. Live in the present.. And plan for the future... The present sucks.. That's obvious.. Now our past few draft picks have been busts...( yes brown has looked decent...I would be happy if we grabbed him in the third or even second round... But not number one...) the present sucks (maybe slightly cuz of the horrible draft picks... Hmmmm no way there can be a connection there..) and what's our plan for the future?? Are we just going to be like eh let's just hope it all shakes out and do nothing??? That's the worst idea I've ever heard.... We need change.. Esspecially our defensive Scheme... Cuz this cover 2 is worthless... Listening to people defend Caldwell is a joke... If you walk into your boss's office and say well I have lost every client I had last year, you would be walking out of that office jobless...

    For everyone confused about garbage time... It's the point in the game when the game is over... The winning team is usually running the ball.. Wasting time bla bla bla... At that time, the losing team usually puts up some points... Not the winning team cares... Cuz its over...We played a Good quarter... Not a good game... I'll say we played a good game when the score board says colts>opponent... This season is just garbage... Let's just pray that the FO has some sort of plan.... I'm not sure if they do and I'm terrified...

    I just want one win... Just one... If you ask me that's saving caldwells butt right now.. Cuz the only reason they are out there trying is cuz.. No one and I mean no one wants to lose every single game.. If we were 1-10 idk if the players would show up to the games

    I guess I kinda feel bad for Caldwell... I feel worse for the players and mostly my self the fan... He is without a doubt being replaced.. I think that's been established with the 0-11 record... I know a colts organization we are nice and all that good stuff... We can be the nicest team to not win a game in history... I'm not happy... We need change all across the board... Offense..defense...special teams... Luck won't make the defense better, wont make the play calling better.. Won't make the special teams better... We need real change.. Change in attitude.. Change in scheme... Even if manning comes back.. The era is over..
