  1. Nobody is talking about this but our other teams in the afc south are building monster defense's to bang on the Colt's offense.I expect Houston and Jacksonville to be in the top 10 in defense so we have to keep tightening up our strengths as we bring up our weakness. I think our defense is already better (on paper) than last year so If we need one more piece to make our line elite we should do it imo. We have to worry about winning this division  and it is going to be harder and harder to do with these defenses in the division.

  2. It has NOTHING to do with me being a  "Better" fan, the point is everyone is so quick to jump on the ol forums and spread negative nonsense. Yes Luck is having a bad season but the fact is this team was in a rebuilding phase they overachieved Lucks first few seasons now the obvious issues such as a horrible offensive line/Bad play calling/0 overall team discipline and many other issues are beginning to really show.  Hate all you want talk nonsense all you want I know what Luck is capable of and I still fully support him........

I do to, 100%! My main point with your post was that none of this is his fault. No one would fault him if he threw the ball out of bounds if no one was open, or just took off running because when he runs the defense has something else to account for, it makes them hesitate, But what he is doing is making bad choices and that is on him and even he would tell you that. I love this team, moreso than the player but I still believe he is the right guy, he has shown it in the past!!!!

  3. What really surprises me here is the amount of our fan base that have itchy trigger fingers with anything or anyone that twitches or moves where it concerns Andrew Luck. It frankly makes me suspect of the football savvy here.

I'll just say this. Any, and I mean any, NFL team that does not have a franchise QB with Luck's caliber would trade away their firstborn for his services. The problem does NOT lie with our QB. Get that through your heads. Now, take a look at the offensive play calling.

Now you can aim your guns.

Then who is at fault for throwing interception after interception, who is at fault for staring down receivers, who is at fault for these horrible rookie mistakes. If you want to be honest, a play call for a franchise Qb is just a set of options, that's all. The Qb has to find the best of several options on each play, after the ball is snapped, he not doing that this year for what ever reason and everybody that watches football can see it except for a few fans that think it's somehow disloyal to say our Qb is not playing up to his potential right now. After Andrew takes the snap, Pep is out of it, it's him against the defense.  I, like most Colts fan hope he gets it sorted out soon cause we need him to be the Luck from before this year

  4. When Andrew is back to form everyone with the negative comments will again praise Luck, Happens all the time.

Not trying to be funny, but isn't that the time for praise. The fact is most of us love the Colts win or lose, some express it with anger an make outrageous statements and because you don't criticize it somehow makes you a better fan. Not true. Andrew is not playing well, its true. It's the same offense that was leading the league for a while last year. It doesn't matter what Pep calls,  Andrew is the last one with the ball in his hand before the throw. You gotta know Pep's intention was not for Andrew to throw passes into triple coverage with open receivers running free underneath!

  5. Bull. All those crappy throws from Luck and you blame this on Pep just because you don't know of anything else to do.

This!! Luck is the last one to have the ball, he can throw it to whomever he wants!!!  It's not Peps fault for who Luck throws to!!! All the receivers are live!!! We need to stop throwing this all on Pep, A good QB scours the field and makes the best choice to be successful on every play! Our Qb is not making good choices, I can see this from my couch,I see the open underneath throws that he doesn't even look at, That's also part of Peps play call. On every play he has 2 or 3 options and he doesn't take the move the chain yardage always looking for chunk yardage. Pep ain't great,  but most of this stuff he's getting blamed for is a Qb not going thru his reads!!!

  6. Im going to go a step further since I'm out here. I don't think all that game plan fail is on Pep!!! When Matt played, the short passing game was in full effect, I think we can all agree on that. Well I don't know how many passes were batted down at line of scrimmage but I think it was at least 4. That's Andrew's version of that same passing game! They tried to give him some easy throws to get him going, but he was telegraphing those throws. He has to learn to look off defenses. The Dlineman found out that if they weren't getting there to just follow his eyes and bat it down. He had those guys looking like JJ Swatt! If our QB is going to reach his full potential he is going to need a coach/ mentor who he trusts, to help him with the finer points of Nfl quarterbacking and he, and we will be fine! Go Colts

  7. Andre has dropped a lot of catches

I haven"t seen him drop a lot because he isn't thrown to a lot, when he has been thrown to I have seen enough to see he can still play! He , as many others have said, is open a lot in the flat areas and not given a look. That is where I expected him to make his money. My only point is even though I don't post I have been here since the 80's and I know that if a poster that everyone likes says something it gets repeated and becomes fact.AJ is not a burner he has to get accurate passing in the short areas to prosper and move the chains! Hey,Im not trying to do anything but present another point of view

  8. Johnson needs to hang it up. The 8 or 9 million were paying him is a ludicrous contract.

Especially if you don't cater to what he does well. I thought he would be the possession guy, but the chemistry has to be off the charts to work.

  9. I haven't seen anyone post this, so I thought I would. Much has been made of AJ not contributing much since he's been here and most of the talk is centered on his ability or inability to get separation. The truth of the matter is that for AJ to effective, the quarterback has to be accurate!! He game is built on positioning, Like a power forward or center in hoops, when he has the defender pinned he has to receive the ball in the right place to have a clean entry. When the ball is behind him or not on time, you have a disconnect. Ironically that was one of the reasons AJ wanted to come to Indy was to play with a top flight QB, he had never had that. In another post on here someone timed Lucks throws at 3.2 secs and that's late. Our QB is in a slump for several reasons and we all hope he comes out, but these things need to be added to his game imo.many people say that when he is ready to throw the recievers still have their backs to him, He has to make anticapated throws, Peyton has made a living on that!!! When the reciever turns the ball has to be there. That ten yard back shoulder throw Peyton use to throw to Reggie, unstoppable. I guess that's coaching and spending hours working with your recievers. Thats the kinda thing AJ hoped he would get here. Not trying to start a fight just the other side of the story. Our qb has to learn to throw his guys open and then he wont have to hold the ball so long!!

  10. 29........

I'm sorry that my tone lately has not been very pleasant.    I find myself incredibly frustrated,  both with the state of the team and with the posters here.    Even worse,  I fear this is going to be along difficult year for everyone.    The franchise and the fans.   Even if we win 12 games,  advance to the AFCCG before losing to New England,  I think the journey this year will not be a fun ride.

And I think the Pagano lame-duck status is what is hanging over the entire franchise.

I typically enjoy visiting the site,  but the threads now have such a silly, foolish,  ridiculous and nonsensical tone to them that it's very difficult to take much of this seriously.    But I'm going to have to do much better.    Your comment is noted and appreciated.

As for my new best friend, "Realtor"....   I think he's made a series of ridiculous posts in this thread,  not just to me,  but to other posters as well.    You are correct,  the number of posts makes no difference.   But I honestly thought he was knew.   I've only noticed his posts recently.    So, I was surprised that he's been a member since 2011.    I would've thought he'd read enough to get some sense of the posting community, but apparently not.

I think he's got a Bull in a China shop approach and I don't think it will work well for him,  not as a new poster, which he basically is.    You can throw your weight around when you make a post and a large number of people agree with you,  or don't disagree with you.    But it's hard to do that when almost no one is agreeing with you,  and I think that's where "Realtor" finds himself.

So,  this being our first exchange (at least,  that I'm aware of)  I'll take your comments to heart and try to do better.   But this year is not going to be easy......    not for anyone......

Thank you, for understanding where I was coming from and not ripping my headoff. I figured it was frustration, but I thought I would ask respectfully because sometimes you can get in so deep on things that you lose your bearings. It didn't seem like you! Again,I probably won't post much, but I hope read many more inciteful posts  from you! Go Colts

  11. I don't post much, but I am on here several times a day to stay up with everything. I wanted to see tonight if posters would put the blame where it should go or blindly blame the offensive line. That line held up against intense blitzing all game long !! Andrew was hit a few times and pressured a ot but he was bad today, very inaccurate and bad decisions. And wait, before you jump all over us that seen it true, he must get better if he is to reach the level that everyone has put him. With the blocking he got today Aaron Rodgers ,Brady, Rivers ,Brees or any top-notch QB would have shredded that defense today. Face it these are the guys he is susposed to be comparable to or better than! I don't think he has ever been very accurate, but today he was just bad!!!

Having said that I think they will get better as the season progresses!! Go Colts

  12. Two different times with the Colts he was playing well... not great but well and two times he replaced in the lineup for no reason other than the coaches wanted someone else to play and both times the replacement played worse than he did.

That is being treated poorly.  You guys may think it's nice the Colts didn't cut him but when a guy earns the starting job and then it gets taken away for no reason that rubs people the wrong way.

Or maybe you guys don't see the frustration when he tweets something like, "One play one TD".

Maybe he's late for meetings, disrespectful to authority, a lot of things could have got him pulled. Doesn't mean he was mistreated, it means we don't know what he did! Im in a small band and even tho a guy may be a good player,  he can disrupt the harmony of the group for some of these reasons. Guys may not want to play next to him. Offensive lineman are tight,  it would be easy to upset that group. It has to be something like this because the coaches are not dumb enough to not play him if he was working well for them. Im sure that the "one play, one td comment didn't help his cause! They brought him back so they must like his ability, so it has to be atitude or something of that nature.

  13. I'll take both with a upgrade to the offensive line. No matter who we bring in, the offensive line has to be fixed. Not even the great Barry Sanders could run behind this line

    :colts:

You guys keep saying this ,but if the great ahmad bradshaw can run behind this line, then I imagine barry could scrape out a few yards also. Bradshaw did it two yrs in a row before getting injured. It's been right there in front of everyones eyes to see but few recognize this. The line has improved, it's not great by any means but a great back can run behind it. Good backs look for holes,  great backs look for a crease. If you want to fix the run, you can try to get five good linemen to grow together and gel, ala Dallas,  or you can get a decent line together and get a special back. There are a few special ones in this draft. If we get one of them our offense will soar, thats all we're missing on offense. Your not gonna get that guy in the third round or later as many posters keep spouting off about! These type runners in the top of this  draft are rare to come by. We should grab one and not look back. Just because Trent didn't work out doesn't mean it wasn't the right move, right move wrong player, lets get it right this time!

  14. We've spent 3 first rounders in the last 9 years on RBs, let's not make that 4 in 10.

I'm not big on giving 8+ million a year to a free safety either.

Honestly, in my professional opinion, RB is the least important position on offense, and Safety is the least important position on defense.

In my professional opinion, you couldnt be more wrong! I keep hearing how the running back is devalued, but if you look at Seattle they have one of the best young qb's in the game, who is more important? The beast! Brady didn't beat us, Blount did! We need to quit spouting out the same stuff people are saying and watch the game! If you have a great oline yes a 4th or 5th round runner will do great, but if you get a special back he can be more impactful than a qb because he impact the passing and the run game. Polian knew this, Irsay know's this and I hope Grigson knows this. That is why the trade for Richardson was made. He failed, but the idea was right. Put a prime running back with Luck and he will even make the defense better,  ie time of possesion, more rested defense when they hit the field. Now you have REAL play action, the rushers slow down , the oline looks better but it's really just one guy. I think this draft has some of those guys up top, and we would be foolish to pass on them. The boom Herron's of the world can't do this, I'm sorry but they can't. I know many don't want to believe it but that line that played the last three games had an outstanding back, we would never talk about the oline again we'd be fine!

  15. Nothing wrong with being a dinosaur.  A back has to establish a rhythm, so I can see the benefit if one guy gets most of the carries. If he gets tired or worn down he can simply take himself out for a breather.

Exactly, then you put in Herron and he will be even more effective cause the defense will be tired of tackling our monster back.

  16. That stands to reason. But when you build a good offensive line you can plug and play RBs. You don't have to depend on one RB. Plus the passing game improves with better line play. You are talking about one player. When you improve the O-line it makes the whole offense better. And yes if you have a good O-line you will steamroll the defense. Did New Englands O-line steamrolls us? Did Dallas's O-line steamroll this year? Teams have not gone the route of putting all the load on just one RB. He goes down then your whole running game is gone.

I don't think New England's line steamrolled us ! If you look at the highlights that ESPN run endlessly, all you see is Colts defenders falling off Blount!!!! not many linemen in the shots. We need a playmaker at running back, all running backs are not equal.A true fourth round back is not going to elevate the team like a true first rounder, he may run hard, but he's just a guy. He runs right into the Dtackle and lays down. When Edge stepped on the field in that first preseason game ,the Colts offense was transformed immediately. A Great Running BACK makes the "good line" better.they hold the blocks a split second longer because they know their guy can take all the way, Its the same as saying we didn't need to get Luck til we got a better line, it's absurd, great individual players elevate the players around them  I have watched football for over 50 years and a great running back makes you miss!!! The backs in the late rounds don't have that ability, We've had those guys, still do. If the line opens big holes the can pick up 4 or 5 yards before they get tackled. There are some great backs in this draft at the top. We should draft one and Ill bet that line that blocked in those last three games will look stellar. Now, Andrew has more time cause you might hand off on third and four the defense has to consider this.

  17. You know this Is twice in one day.... Normally I don't agree with much you post but I do think you have a point here. Unfortunately not in this particular case.

Think about doing your job where you work with a total * canoe who in whatever way knows how to push your buttons, this being on top of coming in as the "new guy". Now imagine that your boss for want of a better simile is not only not going to help you if you take this it him but is condoning AND contributing to the behaviour. Are you going to perform to your best? For all the internet tough guys out there going I'm a big man I can take it, even reacting with anger, aggression or violence is going to have a negative impact on your performance and quite possibly your career. There is a locker room environment and then there is the circus that is the Dolphins.

Now flip it around and look at it from the Colts view. Martin will most likely get cut, there would be no trade cost to pick him up. Will he be able demand big money? No. What's the harm on picking him up for cheap, especially as he has a security blanket in terms of players he knows here and seeing what he can do at least in camp. He doesn't work out you cut him. No harm, no foul, just a sensible speculation.

I would like to pick up on this point, because I read 5 pages before I seen anybody pick up on this angle. Suspose you were a devout christian an you went to college to be an accountant(or fill in the occupation). Now you graduate, get your dream job and move out of state where there's no family. But when you get to this dream job all the coworkers are drunks or druggies( ie a bad work environment). They are always going to the clubs after work and teasing you cause you wont party with them. They're always doing things together and you feel alone. Remember this is your fist big boy job so you have to think maybe this is the way it is. So what do you is, you try to fit in without losing your values. You say I will go, but I will only drink water. Believe me I don't drink and you wont believe how far many have gone to get me to take a drink. You always have that one person that decides they are gonna change you and will push very hard to make that happen. The sad part is that Incognito probably did look at him as a brother, like that big brother that pestered the hell out of you when you were ten, It wasn't funny then and it ain't funny now. The point Im trying to make is that some of you are mistaking size for adult maturity.Im 56 yrs old and I know exactly what he should of done now, but i might not of when I was  at 23 yrs old. Thanks

  18. Butler is playing that New England style corner that Ty Law used to do to a young P Manning. He is not that good on his man but he watches the QB and if the ball is not thrown to his man he leaves him and jumps the route. Stat wise it looks great , but he can be exposed if they figure out what he is doing. He kinda plays like a third safety. It is more effective if he is on the outside because he can roam to the middle and jump routes if his man stays on the sideline,or he will jump flat routes that he is susposed to have vacated. If he is covering the slot , he is too occupied to look around because those are usually quick hitters so he doesn't get the interceptions he would on the outside.I like it cause it gives us the ball back, but Im think Bellichick got tired of his gambling style

  19. .

Exactly it wasn't Ryan Grigson's call. I posted a quote from Grigson earlier in the season where he said he'd rather start a rookie CB than a rookie oline

Grigson was asked if he had to start a rookie CB or a rookie olineman, which way would he go, thats different that what you're saying. Different context

  20. Grigson may get fired at some point but I don't think it will be because of trading for T-Rich. I believe that to make a trade of that magnitude Mr Irsay had to be on board with it. And what no one is mentioning is that Mr Irsay is the one that brought Eric Dickerson here in his brief time as the GM. So he wants that big bad running back on his team. if you swing and miss , so be it.

  21. I would like to address the Rogers character issues thing: It really doesn't matter! Once the guy is evaluated and is put on the team, he is a Colt. You can't keep using the excuse of character issues when you are losing or at least struggling in games! My point is his issues can crop up while he is on the practice squad as easily as when he is scoring touchdowns so you use him while he is issue free and drop him if he falters. It's no different in reality ,than if a player is playing well and is then injured . He's just gone. Now if he can't get the playbook thats another story.
