You make it sound like Irsay is kicking Manning out of town. We dont know the details yet so I dont think its fair to play the blame game yet.
agreed
-
Im not sure. Might be a stretch
-
I would be there if it wasnt for living in Massachusetts
-
I'm not sure Blair White is a 'product of Manning'
I agree White is a terrific player with a lot of potential I think
-
Wallace would be a great addition, but not at the price of a first round pick
-
I'm really confused, we could lose Manning, Wayne, Garçon, Saturday, and Freeney and STILL be in a bad cap situation? How does that not free up unbelievable cap room if all those guys are released? It makes absolutely no sense to me, to not to hit the FA market and sign a couple solid players if we lose all of the aforementioned fellow Colts. If so someone must have really been doing a bad job.
Yes, his name was Chris Polian

I hope this isnt true
-
Its true.
We have been spoiled by success..
..but there's a hard reality in the air here this week and it says that breaking up the old core (Mathis, Freeney, Clark, Saturday, Wayne, Manning, Addai) and starting a rookie quarterback may take us to the dark side of the moon..
Dallas is still high profile...but what do they have....one playoff win in 17 years..
I think its insane to 'move on' from a proven winner like Peyton Manning...if he's even 90% healthy
So many here are eager to start over and start from scratch but we dont know where 'scratch' is.
We haven been there in this century.
I want to keep the core together for 2 more years...I've said that.
BUT..I admit there's a chance Irsay does not agree.
Soem of you see Manning's injury, our cap room struggles and Andrew Luck's availability as a 'perfect storm' of opportunity/...
So go there. ...If we 'start over'...If we start a rookie QB and retool (no Saturday no Wayne. No Clark. No Garcon) at the offensive skill positions...
..what is your guess at what will happen.?
I know 2012 will not go well. That's the NFL. You cant do a makeover and make the playoffs with a rookie QB. (maybe you think we can?) But 2013, too? What about 2014?
Are you ready for that?. Its easy to SAY you are but remember last fall??
Is the Indy fan base going to saddle up and ride with us through the 'black forest' of 6-10??
Once you go 'black' could be years before you come back.
I dont care about 'being competitive'
If we tear it up...when can we reasonably EXPECT (not hope) to go to the playoffs again?
Even if we keep all those players on the team and peyton, we could still go 6-10. There is never a guarantee that just because the players are good the team will win. I think the Patriots and Cowboys are pretty good examples of this.

I heard it was 4 p.m. on Friday
-
none. the opposite even
i see the colts quietly not paying the $28 million dollar bonus. then a frenzy of speculation will build up leading up to & into the free agency period
the media circus hasn't even begun
I agree
-
Unfortunately, I think it will be Colts fans who will have a tougher time
-
We worked hard to lose that game!
LOL
-
not to get off topic but why is bethea mathis and garcon dressed as women
It was for a really dumb skit they did for Jimmy Fallon's show back in February
-
I think that's a fabulous idea.
I agree
-
I'll have to contemplate this for some time. Perhaps you're right but I really wanted to keep Wayne and not tie up our tag on a guy that will probably be signed in a few weeks.
Agreed. Mathis was only going to be a free agent on the 13th, so they had time to work out the details. They definitely should have used the tag to keep Reggie
-
According to Adam Schefter, not sure how accurate it is, but apparently the Colts and Mathis are trying to get a new contract worked out, but if they cant, the Colts will use a franchise tag. If this is true, the announcement should come shortly because the franchise tag deadline is 4:00 p.m.

Except that Dungy has said this all year, so it's not a reaction to the bounty system.
True
-
Has Peyton ever blamed that play? I know Dungy did, but I don't know if Peyton ever publically said that. Also, that first game of 2010 against Houston probably had something to do with the current state of affairs.
What happened in the first game of 2010?
-
The first time I ever got to watch Peyton and the Colts in person was Dolphins vs Colts MNF in 2009. The first play of the game Peyton finds Dallas and he's off to the races. TD 80 yards. I'll never forget it.
Thats a great memory to have!
I think my favorite was just the entire 4th quarter in the Colts/Pats game in November 2009. The way Peyton lead the team in that come back being down by so much so late to advance to 9-0 was incredible
-
What else is Archie going to say, "Oh yeah Peyton, he is doing horrible. He cant throw! He cant even tie his shoes."
This is pretty insignificant
-
I'm cool with Peyton throwing in Florida, but if he is throwing for Jax and Miami than it's tampering.
Ultimately, maybe Peyton will feel guilty right before he leaves our franchise and restructure with us so that we can trade him. I believe Peyton has wanted to leave for a few seasons now, and that is why coaches like Fisher and Rex started to court him awhile back. This is primarily due to terrible drafting strategies leading to a very top-heavy roster. Those within the organization knew they were one or two injuries away from being average. Unfortunately we learned to what extent our competitiveness falls when we lost the Sheriff, everyone was exposed.
The Colts are a sinking ship, and I can't blame Peyton for wanting to leave. I just hope he doesn't leave us in the dark.
How are we a sinking ship? If anything we are a ship that has already sunk and is now coming back
-
Drafting any player is part skill but also part luck. When u are presented with the chance to draft a player the quality of Andrew Luck based off all the information all teams have and you are in need of that position he plays you cannot for any reason pass on that chance.
Dead on

I'm ok with symbolic gestures.
Agreed

Man, we're hungry for news, aren't we?
Starving actually, JC
