  1. In summary for this thread I think most in here are happy that JT has returned; I for one as much to see what Steichen can do with so much talent in our backfield that he was already showing he was capable of playing chess vs checkers prior to JT lacing up.

I think we are in for a show!

Sad to see the thread devolve into the land of keyboard warriors. :(

  2. The way I see it is there are two scenarios.

    1) He washes out and everyone feels better about not taking a chance on him.

    2) He ends up a home run trade for the Patriots, with minor investment, and people will still say “We are a character team and don’t want that kind of guy on our team”.

I hope everyone at least wants the guy the guy to pull his life together first and foremost.

First off do you forget who we now have as our Our O line line coach who I'm sure had much imput into the linemen we selected. The guy knows a thing or two about Offensive linemen. You act if grigs makes the picks based solely off his scouting and his information. AND that's faaaaar from the truth.

And to try and say there is no ability in Green is rediculous. He's got HUGE ability...especially physically. He's new to the position and still learning. A guy who with more coaching can turn into a great rangy saftey. Physically he is a blue chip player.

Also our offense was a laaaarrge part of the reason our defense looked as bad as it did last year. Constant 3 and outs giving the opposing offenses more possessions and making our defense stay on the field alot longer than they should have to thereby wearing them down. Also the costly turnover's in our own zone giving them short fields. And what was a large reason behind this...hmmmm maybe our horrible offensive line. And our offensive coordinator for the first half of the season. Our Defense actually kept us in a number of games and gave us a chance. People don't realize or remember for some reason how much pressure was on them for about 12 outta 16 games. Yes there are definitely holes and our defense isn't great by any means but from what I watched and know they are far from horrible.

And how important is it to you to protect our most valuable player who means everything to our franchise? Because that's very likely what Kelly goes a long way in doing for us. Also helping our offense be able to perform to its potential. And there were reports out there that on some boards Kelly was a top 20 prospect.

Great post. Last years 24 hour med clinic (largely effected by our O-Line) shook things up in management philosophy. Especially like your mention of our new O-Line coach / 3 and outs etc.

    Looking forward to training camp.

  4. It's been this way for three years. It's an odd form of torture giving us a QB that has this much potential and an open door to plant him on his back week in and week out.

Its would be Herculean effort for most QBs in this league to not crack and go off on the crap line that's in front of him. That to me is part of the Legend that is Andrew Luck.

  5. Pittsburgh did their homework. Our pass rush to this point has been mainly through zone blitz packages - and not anyone beating their man one on one. Big Ben today and any other top tier QB the rest of the season will expose this.

Without Mathis there isn't an elite pass rusher on the team and Gosder at tackle is going to get our QB knocked out for the season.

Positive note to end on : Moncrief is the real deal. By the end of the game you could see the respect he was starting to get (the TD where Hilton was open on the corner comes to mind)

  6.

The comback victories; yes, coming back implies that you were not doing something right to begin with, hence have to play from behind (why I called him mistake-prone). As a Colts fan, Luck gets too much of a pass; his mistakes and accuracy issues are overlooked because he is the succeessor to Manning, hence us fans are quick to grab onto any array of hope. Yes, I understand that we were a lottery team prior to getting Luck, but I truly believe the orgainzation tanked it; we clearly

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/13994/cam-newton (Historic rookie season,Won a tough division last year; consistent passer, best young gun imo when you consider his lack of weapons; no Wayne, Maclin, De-sean, V. Davis, T.Y, etc. His rookie appears to be a stud. The team also lacks a run game which makes Cam that much more impressive; he is the offensive)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14001/colin-kaepernick (Constantly goes deep into the playoffs/SB appearance; beat GB in frigid temps at Lambo)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14875/robert-griffin (Offensive ROTY; this guy is scary, he utterly destroyed SEA in the playoffs, until the injury. Health a major concern though)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14877/nick-foles (Not the athlete Luck is, but appears to be a polished passer.)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14012/andy-dalton (Very consistent passer, constant playoff appearances)

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14881/russell-wilson (SB champ; yes...already....)

Gonna get burned for that, but the stats do not lie; his accuracy and decsion making has been an issue thus far, hence we are usually fighting from behind. Could things change from now til say...2017, of course, but for now, Luck is what he is. Luck is not the top young gun; not even close according to the stats. Luck's greatness lies in his potential; potential does not represent acuality. Us fans not judging him by potential, while other young guys are judged by actuality. In reality, Luck is a slightly above average QB. Luck is on a golden pedestal, immune to any criticism; if any young QB (Or QB in general) whom was not hyped up/replacing Manning had his comp % and RAT, it would have been laughable to deem them the next great thing. Dolton takes a crap-ton of flak, but look at his stats compared to other young QBs.

Luck's biggest attribute imo is his athleticism, we should allow Luck to use it more often and stop trying to make him Peyton Manning.

I know it seems harsh, however, I am extremely frank; I like Luck, but have to call it like it is.

You do realize that those come from behind victories were late in games where we were forced to abandon the run and turn Luck loose, right?

  7. Only from people wanting to display their ignorance.

These men have lives. They are fighting for jobs to earn a place. They might not be what the Colts need but show them the respect they deserve for chasing their dream.

  8. The year we won the Super Bowl we didn't show to be a good defensive team until we got into the playoffs.  As a matter of fact we went into the playoffs with the media and everyone else laughing at the defense.

And then Bobzilla got healthy for his usual 3 or 4 games a season in time for our Super Bowl run. The man blew his own body up with those hits but MAN could he hit.

  9. Same old, same old =  playoff team.

No team is going to be perfect.  Every team can improve.  We obviously have weaknesses, it doesn't mean we can't win.  That's a fact, not an opinion.

There was no quit in our team last night. I think some of the fans had quit but not the Colts. I especially enjoy Luck has FIRE and you could see is extremely competitive and animated.

I think the team is overall better than last year and when Mathis gets back I think the D could be rock solid (other than a cover safety). When was the last time we could say that?

  10. If fairness to Werner he is still a second year player who went up against arguably the best left tackle in the league. He at the very least seems to have made some progress from last season, especially in run defense.

Werner is better against the run than he is a pass rusher. He simply lacks the speed to beat people on the edge.

  11. This game is not a crucial win for us but it is definitely a barometer game for how the front office did in the off season on the O Line and our defense. I hope I'm wrong but I see us abandoning the run by early in the the 3rd quarter.

  12. I couldn't care less what his rating has been. Luck wins games - as evidenced by having the record for most comeback wins in his first two years. He has been closing the deal with a patchwork O Line and no run game whatsoever.
