  1. Those calls on the last drive may not be called all the time, but nevertheless they are still the right calls. Orlovsky had the out of his hands for a second or two and he was still within the hashmarks. To make matters worse, Watt hit him low which is a double whammy. They have to call that everytime.

Watching a lot of games, I see this play ALL the time and RARELY is it called.

Talking with other fans a few weeks ago and there is a strong need in the NFL for full time refs (the NFL can afford it). It might make things a bit better than these part-timers calling games right now. The worst play I saw this year was an incomplete forward pass ruled a laterial and the other team awarded control of the ball?!? Took a coach's challenge for the refs to make the correct call that everyone on the field, in the stands and watching TV to realize.

Overall, I don't know a team this year that hasn't complained about the refs ability to call the game.

  2. One thing interesting about Texans, I get to watch them every week. They have a great pass rush, something that isn't talked about. After watching a Texan game the next game on I'm constantly wondering where the pass rush is for other teams. Its in every play, not just a blitz. I doubt Texans go far in the playoff though, not from lack of talent, but experience. However, if this team gains any confidence, they could be very dangerous even to the Packers. (Also remember, their early losses they were still learning the defensive system.)

  3. Oakland 23 Dallas 21

In surprising move Dallas coach calls TO in final seconds allowing Oakland to put their FG unit on the field which the kicker makes giving Oakland the victory. JJ later says he stands by his coach's decision before firing him an hour later.

  4. Hypotheticaly speaking if Manning was healthy and the Colts were losing it would mean something else is wrong with the team (O-line, D-line, WR, RBs,, etc). The draft picks then should be used to draft players which should help in those areas. Picking a QB (even Luck) would be a wasted draft pick. If Manning was healthy then the Colts realistically would not be looking for their next QB for another couple of years.

  5. Apparently Dallas' special teams coach saw the play clock running down and was worried about getting off a clean kick and asked Garrett for the timeout. It's still funny but like someone mentioned, their biggest blunder was not calling a timeout with 25 seconds left to try and get closer. A 49 yarder should be made by any kicker but it's still not a chipshot. Oh well. Early Xmas present for me!

This nails it! He also had Romo spike the ball to stop the clock with TWO timeouts left! Though I personally love listening to my Cowboy fan friends whine about this one (music to my ears).

  6. The biggest problem with the Colts and Vegas is Vegas has to give enough points to lure gamblers to put money down on the Colts. The problem is the Colts are unpredictible, they've been 'decent' to just down right bad. The Colts are probably giving oddmakers fits because they have show they can lose by 7 or less agianst good teams, or be blown out by more than 14. I think the oddmakers are looking at the fact Baltimore is more than capable of shutting down the Colts to about 10 points while scoring more than 24.

  7. Yates actually knows the system here in Houston which was also similar to what he ran in college, so he will be the starter. The veteren is in case something happens to Yates you have a someone with some NFL experience.

Here in Houston, the talk isn't of some veteren QB starting, and most of us don't want Farve at all. The good news is we're going back to a right-handed QB for our offensive system which should make things easier.

  8. If a team that is comfortable with their QB has a chance to draft Luck, I'd say they would not do it. There is no guarantee that Luck will become a superstar, he has the talent, but why would a team with a good QB take a risk on an unproven QB. Taking Luck would probably cause more disruption in the team. Football is perhaps the one sport where your picks must address your team needs. You can't really have two great QBs, it does not work out as running an offense with two QBs leads to more problems than solutions and that QB is not going to want to play another position unlike what you can have in another sport.

It all comes down to does the team with the draft pick need a QB.

  9. To me, it's not quite a failure from Manning but the coaches. Its a failure because it's looked like Painter was not ready to take over this team, despite the fact he's been on the team now for over two years!!! Its obvious that the coaches, or Manning, never cared or thought of what might have happened had Manning been injured during a game. It has become clear that if that had happened Painter would not have been able to run the offense. Again, a failure of the coaches for not making sure he was ready regardless of what Manning thought or wanted. Sometimes a coach has to push his star player's ego aside for the better of the team.
