  1. Um, Actually they do. America has killed way more Natives than any country combined when you want to go into specifics of genocide.

No one likes to bring it up cause they'll say "but it happened a long time ago" but it did happen. All that flag waving nationalism don't erase the blood stains that birthed this nation. This country was founded on the blood shed of mass genocide to the original occupiers to the land. America killed way, way more Natives and Africans (slave trade) than the Nazi's killed of the Jews, and even if you combine all the deaths of the communists in the Eastern Bloc that the Nazi's murdered (they killed plenty of Eastern people too, the first people the Nazi's murdered were the communists, if you want to be accurate) it still don't come close to the numbers of America the great's death toll to what they did to the Natives. In fact the Nazi's even praised the founding fathers for their extermination of the Natives. Hitler wrote nice things about them and praised them for it.

Besides this, I always find it ironic and sometimes hilarious that America is the one country likes to remind everyone in the world about who kills people, but no one can ever bring up the bloody history that founded this very own country where we still are one of the most racist and sexist countries in the world, and it's all in the name of profit. Thank you capitalism!

America has a very long history of being cruel to anything that's not white, (and women too, seeing we still treat them like second class citizens) if you want to go into this, when the Irish and Italians first came to America, they too had to face racial discrimination from the white Christians, cause according to them, the Irish weren't white enough for them. There is books and historical documentation written about this. Same goes for the Jewish people too, America was pretty mean to them too before the Third Reich even existed, and still to this day, we have stereotypical imagery of Jewish people and even Italians, though it's no where near as bad as all the sexist objectification of women that we see everyday in advertising and entertainment.

It all goes back to capitalism and the exploitation of race, religion, and gender.

If they changed the name, it would make a lot of people happy. As the only ones unhappy would be the typical "this is muh Murica!" group of people who's opinion mean absolutely nothing to me.

It's still a terrible comparison. He compared Redskins to Nazi's... not Redskins to Jewish People.

The term "Redskins" is predominately associated with a football team. Whereas swastikas are associated with Nazi Germany/ Adolph Hitler / Mass Murder... etc etc...

    Terrible comparison.

  2. 1. If it is not racist why then don't we ever hear that word except when describing the football team?

    2. Is there a single sign or plaque on any reservation with the word "Redskin" on it?

    3. Why have 50 senators signed a petition to have the name removed?.

    4. 80 years ago this nation had slurs for every race and nationality on earth. Search for one today.

    5. As one post here stated have the sponsors threaten to pull out and I guarantee a name change over night.

    6. "Decency" apparently means nothing to the responders here and to the rest of the give-a-damns none of which have a trace of Native American blood in them.

    7. Racism takes many forms and is easily disguised and what the NFL is doing is playing verbal "gymnastics" as Keith Olberman defined it.

    8. What strikes me as the most curious of all is the apparent insistance in keeping the name. Why? Recall the Atlanta Braves owner getting hammered for the tomahawk salute in Braves game which they stopped doing.

    9. Last, it is repulsive to even contemplate whites and blacks deciding what is best for the Native Americans as this used to be the status quo when whites decided what is best for blacks. Remember?

Argument 1 actually goes against the point you are trying to make. It can be argued that "Redskin" is not a derogatory name because it is NEVER used as a direct racial slur the way other prominent racial slurs are. I'm 28 years old and I've never in my life heard the term "Redskin" used in the same context as words like "cracker, white trash, the n word, etc... "... I've never once heard, in popular media or in person, a native american referred to as a Redskin for purposed of degradation.

In all honesty, if the Washington Redskins were not around, most folks would probably associate the term "redskin" with potatoes... as funny as it sounds.

Also, it's been said and said countless times, but no one really has an issue with the team name other than politicians and a native american group that owns and operates, of all things, casinos. So this whole fiasco is just being done for publicity reasons in my opinion.

There are 70+ highschools nationwide that use the mascot Redskins... some of them being majority native american populated.

Numerous native american groups have stepped up in support of the name and noted that they have always been Redskins fans and the name is fine. The national approval of the name is something like 87%.

With all that said, clearly the name is not even intended as a racial slur. Dan Snyder isn't trying to degrade native americans, he's simply keeping up the tradition of one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the NFL.

  3. just because mcgylnn is in Washington doesn't mean he will start or even make the team.

As far as the south bring garbage. I don't disagree. But what was the colts record against the superbowl teams last year?

The fact that Washington signed McGlynn to compete for a starting job should tell you about the state of their offensive line.

Washington does have arguably the best left tackle in the NFL, but outside of Trent Williams, their offensive linemen leave a lot to be desired.

  4. Yeah, luck had a worse oline that bob.

You have no clue what you are talking about man...

Where is Mike McGlynn right now?

Also, to suggest that the Colts had a worse team than the Redskins last year is laughable.. let's not forget the Redskins could not make any free agent additions at all last off-season.

Let's also not forget that, while the NFC East has definitely seen better days, the AFC South is arguably the worst division in the history of the NFL. Titans, Jaguars, Texans... that's atleast 5 guaranteed W's for any mediocre team each year.

  5. Thats exactly who you shouldn't listen too. Nobody in the locker room is going to publicly say anything against Bob. They all know that Bobby boy is Danny's favorite and aren't going to put their job on the line. It cracks me up when people actually believe players about controversial topics. They never say what they truly want too.

It cracks me up that you believe "unnamed sources" from media personalities about a story that has no concrete substance behind it...

All the players involved said the story was completely fabricated... I saw Garcon and Deangelo Hall doing TV interviews the past few days and they shot the story down completely...

I think their view points hold a lot more weight than what a media personality reported from their "unnamed sources"....

It's just another attempt to try and shoot down the kid RG3.... I'm kinda tired of the media just piling nonsense on the guy right about now... Time to talk about something else

Last year they loved him, this year they hate him..... it's eerily similar to what happened to Cam Newton in years 1 and 2.

  6. Giants are eating him alive in the second half.

Looks like the offensive line is breaking down. RG3 is progressing through his reads and finding the open guys. He's 18/21 for 165 yards passing and has 90 yards rushing... if anything I'd say he's the only reason the redskins havnt been blown out of this one...

  7. I rarely watch RG3, but for a guy so fast, he really doesn't seem to have many open field moves. Or at least doesn't us them much for whatever reason?

Would probably explain the difference between speed and quickness...

Every guy who runs a 4.3 40 isnt cut out to be a punt returner..

  8. So, the Redskins have the 4th best offensive line in the league according to PFF

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/11/20/ranking-the-2013-offensive-lines-second-quarter/4/

This makes me even more skeptical that RGIII can become a real pocket passer.

Anyone who has watched a Redskins game would look at that as a joke. That line (outside of Trent Williams) is dreadful...

I've watched a handful of Redskins games and Morris has to break what seems like 3 or 4 tackles to get 3 yards.... Also seems like every time RG3 drops back theres a middle linebacker or defensive tackle coming up the middle almost untouched.

And LOL @ the tyler polumbus mention... I think everyone in the league knows that he is the worst RT in the NFL...

  9. I'm just tired of NFC East teams dominating football headlines. I'm not sure that anyone outside of NY, Philly, DC, and Dallas really care what's going on with any of these teams. They're all pretty bad.

It's where the money is in the NFL... get used to it because it's not going to change... of the top 4 most valuable and revenue generating teams in the NFL, the NFC East has THREE... (Dallas, Washington, New York)

  10. I not basing my choice of QB on wins, or stats, but solely on how good I think their are as quarterbacks.  I think Wilson is leaps and bounds better than RG3.  Wilson is far superior at reading coverages, he's a much smarter player, better game manager,  is a better teammate and leader, and is almost as athletic.  Newton I would take over RG3 but by a much smaller margin.

Eh.... basically everything you named is subjective... I don't see how it can be proven that he's better at any of those qualities...

When I watch russell play, I see a guy who is great at buying extra time in the pocket and extending plays... he's also probably the best in the league when it comes to throwing 5 yard touchdown passes.... I swear he's gotta have atleast 10 of those this year... lol....

But on a serious note, I havn't seen any conclusive evidence that wilson reads coverages better... he really doesnt have to... or that he's a better team mate or leader... we aren't in either locker room so theres no way to guage that...  and Wilson is not nearly as athletic as Griffin... Griffin is a guy who's a lot bigger and a lot faster (I can't say stronger because we have nothing to guage their strength on).. Griffin is also an Olympic caliber sprinter/hurdler... I recall reading something saying he was #1 in the country before giving track up to pursue football full time...

  11. Based off what I've seen from from all the QB's mentioned, I wouldn't...

Not to take anything away from Russell Wilson, but he's probably got the easiest QB job in the NFL...

Russell Wilson can throw for 80 yards and still win by 20 points.

RG3 has to have a near flawless game, and put up nearly 35-40 points for the Redskins to even have a chance at winning...

    Let's be fair a little...

  12. I agree with you except I would take Newton and Wilson over RG3.

Do you think if you inserted Russell Wilson or Cam Newton as Washington's QB that they would fare better?

  13. Outside of Luck, I would still take him over any other young QB in the league.

agreed... i'm not sure how anyone could say they'd take tannehill over griffin... that's just bitter spite.. lol.

  14. I think saying Tannehill or Kaepernick are better than Griffin is little bit of a stretch... kaepernick has been AWFUL.

Also, out of all the "young" QB's who all get compared, Griffin is easily in the hardest position to succeed. He's certainly got the worst defense and worst offensive line... and probably the worst group of wide receivers.

He's also playing in Washington, DC.... where the spotlight is ALWAYS on the guy. He could decline an interview and it would probably make the front page of ESPN... he doesn't have the luxury of a little bit of anonymity that guys like russell wilson or even Luck have.

Griffin is also the youngest out of all other QB's by at least a year I think, he's only 22 or 23 if i'm not mistaken. I think he will be fine ultimately.

Going into this season I expected the Redskins to fall back down to reality... they really have not been able to upgrade their team in free agency for the past 2 or 3 years due to the salary cap penalties, so all of their additions have been essentially draft picks. With the cap penalty being removed this year, I think I read somewhere that the Redskins will have upwards of $40 million in free cap space. I expect them to heavily upgrade their OL and at least be able to field a mediocre defense... and push for a playoff spot in 2014.

  15. Philly played a prevent the entire second half.

they were only up by 13 for the majority of the 4th quarter.. why would they have been in prevent for the entire second half?

are you saying that philly didn't blitz not one time in the entire second half? that they had 5-6 DB's 30 yards off the ball on every play?

if so, the coaches in philly are *.
