  1. I would rather wait for cuts and bring someone in. Maybe Ballard can talk to his buddy and bring Garett Gilbert over from Cleveland he's most likely not making their roster.  He looked great against our 1st string defense in pre season. I still like Kelly as the #2 QB though.

  2. From what i saw at 3 days of camp its going to be hard to keep Ya-Sin off the field. I kmow its just practice but even as a rookie he jumps out at you.  He looks bigger, faster, more athletic, more physical than anyone we have on the roster right now including Desir.

How can any player ever be a bust after 1 season??

I would agree after one season. And it also depends on what is considered a bust in the value an organization has in a player.  I would say after two seasons of injuries and productivity that the Bengals realize already what most of the NFL experts were saying about Ross. Thats hes a great athlete but a one trick pony as a WR or they wouldn't be trying to deal him as a first round draft pick so soon.

Colts didn't draft Ross...so it doesn't matter. What I am saying is people are writing off Ross after two seasons (one of which was a rookie season he missed). Cain is in a very similar scenario...heading into his second season after missing his first season. So if Cain doesn't light it up next year...will people write him off as well? I don't think they will.

My point is no one should. With Cain being a 6th round draft pick just making the roster is a plus for him and the team. Unlike Ross who was a 1st.

Regardless of how you sugar coat it Ross has been a bust.

Different players with different skill sets. Boyd would be a great plug and play receiver on any team. His hands are good, and he can run pretty much all the routes and get open. Ross is smaller and relies on straight line speed to get open for deeper passes. He doesn’t have all the tools in the box that Boyd does, but the tools he does have stand a chance to be real dangerous at peak. Scheme goes a long way to making the most of that tool, and I don’t think Bill Lazor impressed anyone last season with what he did as Bengals OC.

Another team to watch in this is the Bucs. Bruce Arians would put his speed and deep threat to use. With the Bucs receiving corps it wouldn’t be a bad fit by any means.

Yeah its obvious that Boyd and Ross have much different skill sets. Still doesn't change the fact that one has produced and the other hasn't.

Ross also missed his nearly all of his first season due to injury. So if Deon Cain doesn't light the world on fire next season...I assume we call him a bust too.

Injuries are definitely a concern with Ross now...but I would gladly take a flyer on him if it's cheap.

Hard to be a bust when Cain was a 6th round draft pick not a 1st round draft pick like Ross...

The only way Ross will be cheap enough is when he hits FA.

So? That's gtd money is less than what Ballard guaranteed Ryan Grant just for last season...a mediocre WR entering his age 28 season who hadn't shown much in four years in the league.

I don't seem to remember the pitch forks coming out for that move. In fact, most people really liked it (for some strange reason)...especially at the price.

At least Ross is young (24) with elite speed and upside. I would much rather roll the dice on a guy like Ross than pay market price for a mediocre WR like Grant.

It's not like they would be relying on Ross to become the WR2 next season. It would be an upside play...the type which people have consistently praised Ballard for. If he made that deal...very few people would take issue with it.

Regardless...since when are the Colts strapped for cash?

The huge difference is we signed Grant in FA to a one year deal. Plus Grant has shown more promise in the league than Ross. If Ross was a FA okay but hes not worth much if anything in trade.

  8. As far as Dalton not being a good QB for the reasoning on Ross performance. I agree Dalton is not good. But Tyler Boyd sure looked great this season in Cincinnati with Dalton at QB. And with the absence of AJ Green, Ross still couldn't contribute to the offense...

I wouldn't even trade a 6th round for him honestly. For the reason we drafted Cain in the 6th round last season. Cain hasn't even played a NFL regular season game yet and i wouldnt trade Cain's upside for Ross.

  9. Its going to be interesting to see who is going to be there at #26. I say if some teams reach for a couple more QB's than expected and some of the OL start moving up we will stay if not and alot of DL gets drafted early like expected to dominate the draft I'm all for trading down for more picks.

I think us Colts fans will all be okay for trading down if we make somewhat of a splash on the DL in FA.
