Great post interview by Matt. He loved playing tonite. It meant so much to him.
-
Pep looking half confused reading his plays off and not covering up his mouth. Why?
Because Hasslebeck is calling better plays at the line than pep ever does.
-
Funny. I saw an open receiver on the replay in the slot for all that bluster he was blowing about great coverage.
-
Wow Davis great job helping him get out and stop the clock.
-
By extension then the issues previously are on Luck and his calls at the line.
I think some of us realized already that Luck is very bad at reading the defense and calling plays. Its obvious Luck usually just calls the default play no matter what he sees the defense do.
-
>what Pep is dialing up tonight
It is what Hasslebeck is calling at the line that is different, not anything Pep is doing.
-
More super smart play choices at the line by Hasslebeck after reading the D.
Luck just does not have that ability.
-
One of the most impressive things has been Hass play changes at the line. I think his experience really shows in him making better decisions than Luck probably would in the situation.
Luck I think tends to just go with whatever Pep calls and if he calls something its almost always a pass with him trying to force something in a pressure situation.

Someday....someone in Indianapolis will figure out the entire offense comes down to the Oline.
A good oline can make a mediocre QB and average receivers have big pass completion numbers.
A good oline pushes the defense and makes holes so any average RB can run effectively through them. And a good running game makes opportunities for even average receivers to get open more and makes them that much more successful than great passing team with a bad o-line. It all adds up.
Without a good o-line, then you end up with a star QB and fantastic receivers, and top notch RB, all running into a wall and never doing much at all in comparison to their average counterparts on a team with a good o-line.
That is what has happened in Indy since Peyton was drafted.
Until the O-Line is fixed, nothing will ever work consistently or well no matter how much you spend on the scoring players.
Give a team a fantastic Offensive Line, and mediocre QB/Receivers and they will be more successful than the Colts.

I could juke and make the colts miss tackling me.
-
Patriots get the ball after half.
-
Mike Carey rule... Whatever he says is the opposite of the truth.
-
Once again the D makes a mediocre running back look like Franco Harris.
-
Damnit butler!!
-
Still playing way back off the receivers. Ugg.
-
Whoever came up with this game plan sucks.
-
Am I wrong that TY has zero touches?
-
Umm. Where is Ty?
-
God dammit. The CBS taking heads(Cower, JB etc) all picked the colts and have now jinxed us.
-
Am I the only one who thinks either the colts or Patriots will kill the Seahawks in the SB? They won but they were terrible.
-
This game is all on the packers D.
-
It's going to be tought to leave this and watch the colts game. They usually start slow anyway.
-
Greenbay needs to shake off whatever funk they were in there.
-
Greenbay dominated this game. The Seahawks played horrible. How in the world can they win?!
I feel obligated to say....good job!

I think people are giving way way too much credit to Pep having made some miraculous changes to his poor game plans he never has shown the ability to do before. I bet pep hardly did anything different than usual in his game plan.
The REAL honest difference has been the fact that this has been a dramatic display of how poor Luck is at reading D and making play changes at the line. It always seems Luck usually just takes whatever play is called by pep and doesn't ever change if the D does something different.
In contrast we saw a huge difference when Hasslebeck used his experience and made big play changes at the line when the D did things he saw. In fact THOSE play calls Matt made at the line is what was responsible for nearly every single big play Thursday nite.
If Luck would have been playing those big plays would never have happened. Luck just does not have abilities to do that crucial play calling at the line and it shows. It shows even more after watching Hasslebeck do a good job at it for two games. You watch, when Luck comes back it will be back to the way it looked before.
Hasslebeck deserves the credit for better game execution, not Pep.
