1) CB Desmond Trufant, WR Tavon Austin or DT Kawan Short
3) WR Ryan Swoop, FS Bacarri Rambo, LB Cory Lemonier
4) G Alvin Bailey
6) QB Sean Renfree
7) WR Brandon Kaufman
7) RB Rex Burkhead
Another offensive draft year with Alvin Bailey probably being our best draft pick outside our 24th selection in first round.
-
Lately we have been pursuing lots of former 1st round picks so my gut says it's DHB
-
IMO project keeping Angerer and letting Conner go hoping we draft a ILB this year with picks 4th to 6th rounds. We should be able to replace Bethea as well.
-
Hopefully Sean Porter will be available in the 3rd for us he's projected at the WILL position. May be a stretch with more teams moving to a 3/4 this year. A year under Mathis would be good. Think we have Mathis signed til 2015. If Porter works out better than expected could try trading Mathis mid year to a team struggling for an extra draft pick.

IMO here is new draft scenario after recent FA pick ups:
1) DT draft to replace Cory Redding am liking Kawann Short with Grigson's Purdue ties
3) OLB Sean Porter to replace Mathis
4) G Alvin Bailey moved to LG
6) QB Sean Renfree due to his coaching background with the Mannings and Luck's comparison
7) WR Brandon Kaufman a tall target with upside from a smaller school with speed and skills
-
Based on spending money we got 3 picks whom I thought and posted in previous threads. Figured we would take 2 corners and Cherilus which still leaves us some room to grab a safety and a WR.
First pick in draft looks more like a DT but if Rams and Cowboys pasd on guard Cooper strongly think we go that route.
-
Expect some draft considerations for ILBs this years as both will be FAs next year. Expect to replace one ILB next year if not taken care of finding replacement this year. We have been notorious for rotating our ILBS after a few seasons.

Reference Andy Dalton and the Bengals over 49ers new starter

Not uncommon for teams to ask a good player to "take a dive" and hoping teams will over look them long enough they drop to you namely choosing another.

Said long ago we should target Cooper and still am high on him. Good to see him move up the board. Not impressed with Fluker especially after watching some of his combine tape. At this point still a toss up after Cooper either going with future DT, DE/OLB or starting strong safety. Elam and Cyprien both talented backs but wish had a 3rd player with combination of size, speed and talent. IMO were over paying our current SS. Time will tell and look forward to what FA can produce us. Rather pay a vetran more money knowing he's done in 2-3 years so we can reload our salary and extend Luck's contracts when it expires.

My 20M in cap picks are:
SS William Moore
CB Cary Williams
RT Andre Smith
CB Greg Toler
TE/FB James Casey
DT Sen'Derrik Marks
Alternates are:
RT Gosder Cherilus
CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
-
Never hurts to gives tryouts and although William Moore is injury prone would not mind adding him at strong safety. Thinking Moore will be looking for 3.5M/yr based on his current salary. This year is cornerbacks plus LBs and next year will be safeties and ILBs that we need to addresst. Am hoping we can pick up 2 corners in FA and draft 2-3 LBs.
-
Hopefully we can draft Carradine in 3rd or Davis Bass. Lerentee also has later 3-4 potential but will need developed.
-
based on analysis of all 32 teams 16 are in need at the safety position. the Rams and Patriots are expected to take the top FS & SS in the first round. the Colts should select strong safety Jonathan Cyprien with the first pick. otherwise he will fall to either the 49ers the first round or even more likely to Eagles in the second round.
3) DE Cornellius Carradine, ILB Nico Johnson (3/4 run stopper)
4) DE/OLB David Bass, G Alvin Bailey, OLB Lerentee McCray (3/4)
5) DT Kwame Geathers, CB Tyrann Mathieu
6) CB Terry Hawthorne, RB Cierre Wood, CB/S Sanders Cummings
7) K Caleb Sturgis, WR Brandon Kaufman

Extra moeny to spend on all these free agents and future draft picks is now a luxury for us. However be cautious about how you spend your money now cause in the future we will need this extra money to address current stars ho will command larger salaries in 3 to 4 years from now. If Luck is every bit as good as Manning then he too will wipe out most of our cap space. Let's try not to repear history and become these other clubs who over extend their spending and can not resign star players down the road. Typical Americans we are we got extra money in our pockets and majority in a hurry to blow it on something new.

After reading article on Cooper on how much of a role model and giving back to the community helping kids I am more sold on Cooper. He's a guy that will knock you down and offer to help you back up for the next play. Rather have more players like this than somone opt to having issues on/off the field.
-
Cherilus from Lions would be an upgrade for RT but can he get past the bust label or was last year his coming out year. Either way still an improvement and finding decent RTs is more difficult.
-
I am high on Cooper but more concerned with penalties as a drive stopper. Were they attitude, jumping the snap count, chop blocks?
-
Agree Pace has age concerns and needed help finishing off his tackles.
-
Colts have a DT outside of the NFL currently evaluating but also looking using 5/6round pick on Kwame Geathers would appeal more. We have other areas to focus on early rounds.
-
The Jets sound like the have cap issues upcoming and Calvin Pace could be available as a short term stop gap. He's used to the ROLB in a 3-4.
-
Any way we look at it we need to get younger at outside with players excelling in a 3-4 base. Jerry Hughes has shown he can play. Another LOLB option is Texans Connor Barwin. Spencer from Dallas would be good pick to replace Mathis. Wonder if Hughes can move to ROLB then trade Mathis for mid round pick. Try to do something to make up for 2nd round.
-
Thought all teams are required to spend 85%? Better to spend on many than 1 major FA keeping in mind future $ that Luck will require to be resigned after his rookie contract.
Paul Kruger looking good to replace Freeney and former ties to Ravens may help us.
-
We have lots of needs agreed but the new OC already wants us to be more physical running and the Colts have always got guys that can receive as well. Fully expect us to go after Levitre in FA and and draft two more offensive players to help. We got 43m to play with which means more freedom to be more active in FA than in previous years. Obviously we can upgrade a lot of areas with 20m to 25m.

Why we trust management to make final decisions. Colts can go different directions with their first two picks. Correct me if I am wrong but thought Tavon was highly compared to the likes of Reggie Wayne and if so IMO could see that as an option in round 1. Since we reloaded our DBs not really expecting us to go Trufant. At this point a DT with our first pick makes most logical scenario after our FA additions.
